Reborn into the 70: Turning Adversity into Her Dazzling Path

Chapter 318: Chapter 318: Awkward Temperament

”I knew this brat wouldn’t be so obedient.”

When Grandma Yao and Gu Lingling returned, there was no sign of Yao Jingsong at home.

Grandma Yao angrily cursed.

”I think he must have finished memorizing.” Gu Lingling glanced at the book on the table; it was the last page of today’s content to be memorized.

”Grandma, why did you come back so late?” Yao Jingsong came in from outside and immediately smelled the braised pig’s trotters, ”Grandma, you’re the best.”

After speaking, he ran to the kitchen and soon came out with the braised pig’s trotters, ”Where have you been? You’re back this late, I’m starving.”

”Where did you go?” Gu Lingling had already seen the things Yao Jingsong was carrying when he returned.

”Zhui Zi came back and brought me some food,” Yao Jingsong said with a laugh, ”Grandma, you should try them; they’re all Capital City snacks. As expected from a big city, they’re much tastier than the snacks we have here.”

”You should try them too.”

The latter sentence was directed at Gu Lingling.

”Is he going on a long journey?” Gu Lingling glanced at the items in the bag and asked.

”How did you know?” Yao Jingsong asked.

”Bringing so many things at once, it’s like he’s delivering New Year’s gifts in advance.” Gu Lingling said casually.

”That kid is really quite pitiful.” Grandma Yao had met Zhui Zi, ”When is he leaving? Let’s have him over for a meal.”

”He’s leaving tomorrow.” Yao Jingsong said while eating pig’s trotters without lifting his head, ”Fine, I’ll go tell him later. Grandma, why don’t we have dumplings for dinner? He loves the dumplings you make.”

”Alright.” Grandma Yao smiled and went to the kitchen.

”Take this money and give it to Zhui Zi.” Gu Lingling handed some of her saved pocket money to Yao Jingsong, ”Hide it somewhere for him, just don’t let him find out.”

If you gave it directly, his pride is so strong he definitely wouldn’t accept it.

”Okay.” Yao Jingsong thought for a while and went to his room to take out his private stash and rolled it together with Gu Lingling’s money.

In the past, he was somewhat unwilling to accept Gu Lingling; they were clearly the same age but she came out a few minutes earlier, always acting like an adult in front of him and always lecturing him.

But after several incidents, Yao Jingsong had no choice but to admit that Gu Lingling was indeed a bit better than him.

Uh... he only admitted a tiny bit.

For instance, with Zhui Zi’s case, she could deduce from the items he brought back that Zhui Zi was going on a long journey, and the money was probably because the road is poor and she was worried it might not be safe for him.

Of course, what Yao Jingsong didn’t know was that when Zhui Zi was truly in danger and difficulty, the little bit of money he and Gu Lingling gave really saved his life.

”I’ll definitely beat you tonight.” Yao Jingsong wiped his greasy mouth, ”These braised pig’s trotters are incredibly tasty; Grandma, save the other one for Grandpa and Zhui Zi to eat tonight.”

He devoured one by himself and only realized after finishing that Gu Lingling actually...?

”You eat it. I don’t really like it.” Gu Lingling’s airy voice floated over, and then she went to the kitchen.

Yao Jingsong laughed.

She always says he’s awkward, but actually, Gu Lingling is just like him, she’s quite awkward too.

Clearly, she’s really nice to him, yet she always pretends not to care that much and even often acts disdainful towards him.

Awkward, immensely awkward!
