Reborn into the 70: Turning Adversity into Her Dazzling Path

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Ground Vegetable Steamed Buns

As soon as school was over in the afternoon, Liu Miao hurriedly ran out of the classroom.

Gu Lingling sneered inwardly, is she rushing to report to Gu Juan?

Or does she want Gu Juan to avenge her?

I’m afraid Liu Miao will be disappointed.

”Are we still going?” Hao Lianlian asked worriedly.

”Of course, let’s go.” Gu Lingling carried her backpack and had arranged with a few female classmates to go to the mountains after school to collect some ground vegetables.

It had just rained a few days ago, so the ground vegetables in the mountains were probably already sprouting.

Thinking about ground vegetable buns, Gu Lingling couldn’t help but swallow.

It’s been so long since she last had them.

Seeing their excitement, even Liu Yating was tempted, ”Are the ground vegetable buns really that good?”

Her mom’s cooking was not tasty, and she had never genuinely enjoyed ground vegetable buns before.

”Yeah, if you add eggs or tofu, it’ll taste even better.” Gu Lingling salivates thinking about the ground vegetable buns she made in a hotel in her past life.

Their head chef was amazing at making buns, every time they were made, they sold out fast, and people had to reserve in advance just to get them.

”Lingling, can you make them?” Liu Yating asked, seeing her speak so confidently.

”I can, it’s actually quite simple.” Gu Lingling smiled. ”Why don’t you come with us to gather ground vegetables, and tomorrow I’ll come to your house to cut your hair and teach you how to make them.”

When it comes to cooking, nothing makes Gu Lingling more confident than this.

When they got to the mountains, there were many women with children also collecting ground vegetables.

Nowadays, almost every family had insufficient food, so anyone willing to gather something edible would do so. Seeing this, the girls didn’t hesitate, and Liu Yating, being her first time participating in such an activity, was somewhat at a loss.

Gu Lingling was busy with her hands, teaching Liu Yating the quickest and best way to gather the ground vegetables as she picked.

Nearby, other girls stopped as well, their ears perked up, listening to Gu Lingling, doing exactly as she instructed. Honestly, it was indeed faster and better.

Some of the previous grudges against Gu Lingling diminished quite a bit.

”So, I can do it too.” Liu Yating exclaimed excitedly, thinking she wasn’t gifted at this sort of thing.

When it seemed about time, the girls packed up and descended the mountain.

”Lingling, we don’t have eggs at home, these ground vegetable buns...” one girl said shyly.

”You can use chives.” In those days, eggs were quite a luxury, but almost every household had some vegetables planted, with chives being a must.

”If you have lard, adding a bit would make it taste even better.” Gu Lingling continued.

Everyone lowered their heads and stayed silent. In those times, making buns even once was a luxury, let alone using lard.

”Don’t be discouraged, everyone. I believe our lives will only get better in the future.” Gu Lingling smiled and said.

It wouldn’t take many years before their lives would surely improve.

The setting sun shone on her, as if casting a golden glow on her, combined with her confident face, it was truly infectious.

So much so that years later, when people recalled this scene, they would still feel confident about the future, full of enthusiasm to continue moving forward.

”That little girl is quite interesting.”

After the girls left, two people jumped down from a big tree. One leaned against the trunk and smiled at the other, ”Yunhai, how about we go to Lao Liu’s house to scrounge a meal tomorrow night?”

Ground vegetable buns?

Just talking about it made him drool a bit.

Yang Yunhai, who Gu Lingling had in mind, glanced at Su Ziqiao, ”We’ll see tomorrow.”
