Civilization Chronicles: Rise of the Divine Creator

It was the first kiss the two had ever shared.

Hell, it was the first kiss either of them had ever had!

But it didn’t last long, maybe a second, maybe 2.

It was more an innocent peck than a passionate declaration, but to Trevor and Jessica, it was an enormous leap in their relationship.

Up until that brief moment, they had only been ’friends’.

Now, they were... something else.

What that something else was, neither of them really knew, nor did they care at that moment.

Pulling back from one another, the pair opened their eyes again, stared at each other as they both blushed, then suddenly broke into a fit of laughter.

Half-a-minute later, Jessica shook her head and smiled sweetly, ”Well, we kissed, and didn’t die, so I guess that’s good.”

”En, we’re both still here,” Trevor chuckled in agreement, his arms still wrapped around her slender waist.

”When I was made Director of this project,” Jessica mused, ”I swore I would do everything I could to make it a success.”

”I still feel that way, but I also know that some things are just... beyond our control.”

Lifting her hand and placing it on the cheek of the man in front of her, Jessica whispered, ”But this isn’t one of those things. This is something we get to decide.”

Feeling the soft touch of the woman he was embracing, Trevor asked, ”So, what have you decided?”

”If...” Jessica hesitated, a look of indecision flashing across her face before determination set in, ”If the worst were to happen, I don’t want to have any regrets.”

”En,” Trevor closed his eyes, leaning his head against the palm cradling his face, ”It’s funny, I was just thinking the exact same thing.”

.....

This wasn’t the first time Trevor had visited a room Jessica called her own, but it was certainly the first time he had entered under such intimate circumstances.

True to their words, the pair wasted no time making their way back to Jessica’s private quarters.

How they made it here from the observation deck without running into anyone else was a mystery to both of them, but neither was going to complain about it.

Everyone else, aside from the annoying pretty-boy Joon, pretty much already considered them a couple, but they saw no reason to feed fresh meat to the gossiping hyenas.

As for why they chose Jessica’s room instead of Trevor’s, that was because her room was nicer and more private.

Being a military research facility, it wasn’t like any of the rooms on the station were particularly luxurious, but being the Project Director, it made sense that Jessica’s accommodations were among the best.

Slipping inside, the first thing Jessica would normally have done was flip on the lights, but tonight, she didn’t feel the need.

As soon as the door was locked behind him, Trevor couldn’t help glancing around, his eyes drifting nervously as he kept clenching an unclenching his fists.

Despite being 46-years-old already, in this moment, Trevor felt like he was an adolescent teenager again, completely in-over-his-head as he stumbled ahead blindly, consequences be damned.

Jessica wasn’t doing much better, mind you.

In public, she was normally the epitome of composure and professionalism, but here, in this extremely private setting, her cream-white skin flushed so red that it looked like steam was going to start puffing out her ears.

Glancing back over her shoulder, inadvertently meeting eyes with Trevor, Jessica felt her heart nearly leap out of her chest as she hurriedly averted her gaze.

Trevor did the same, his vision practically swimming as he desperately sought for something to say.

Eventually, under the dim glow of holo-screens and starlight, Trevor noticed the rather tidy and organized state of the room and commented in an off-handed manner, ”Uh... I see you cleaned up. That’s new.”

Instantly, Jessica blushed even brighter before pursing her lips, spinning around, placing her hands on her hips and snapping, ”What’s that supposed to mean? I always keep my room clean!”

That was a bold-faced lie, and both of them knew it.

Jessica was competent, confident, a super-genius, and an incredible beauty, but she definitely wasn’t perfect.

She had a hot-temper, cursed freely when irritated, and was more than a bit of a slob when it came to her personal space.

Back in their university days, there was one time Jessica had gotten totally sloshed at an end-of-semester party which led to Trevor having to carry her home, only to arrive at her dorm room and find what could only be described as a disaster zone.

Books, papers, terminals, data-pads, holo-screens, take-out containers, unwashed dishes, and dirty laundry were scattered about everywhere.

Trevor would admit he hadn’t kept his dorm particularly clean either, but at least he could still see its floor in most places.

Needless to say, the next day, while she was nursing a terrible hangover, Trevor couldn’t help teasing her about the teddy-bear-panties she had hanging off her desk.

That, as one might’ve expected, earned him a punch in the face and the silent treatment for over a week.

It was painful at the time, but was now a precious memory, one of many moments from their past they shared together and cherished.

Tonight also promised to be a night to remember, a new memory that would be added to their shared archive, one neither of them would ever forget.

The staring contest between the two only lasted a couple seconds before they shared another round of laughter, the earlier tension fading into something much more comfortable.

”So, uh... how do we, I don’t know... do this?” Trevor asked the critical question.

Between the two of them, he’d always been the more passive, but this was definitely a time for him to take charge, so that was what Trevor tried to do.

Too bad he was a clueless virgin so he tripped right out of the starting block.

Both he and Jessica knew what was supposed to happen next, and they had both privately acquired some... ’textbook’ knowledge on the subject before, but now that the moment had actually arrived, it was as if they had forgotten everything they knew and were now drawing a blank.

”I guess we should... strip?” Jessica proposed eventually.

With no better suggestion to offer, Trevor simply agreed, ”Alright.”

Of course, being acutely aware they were still watching each other, neither of them moved other than to fidget nervously.

”Should we turn around?” Trevor proposed after a few seconds.

Thinking that was somehow better, Jessica nodded before turning towards her bed.

Staring out the window, which had a clear view of the stars, Jessica took a deep breath before removing her glasses, unbuttoning her lab coat, then allowing it to slip off her shoulders.

Trevor, like any other man, couldn’t resist peaking over his shoulder, but instead of a quick glance like he intended, he found himself totally mesmerized by the scene and couldn’t help staring.

Only after Jessica also glanced back over her shoulder and let out a cute pout did the man snap back to his senses and hurriedly face the other wall.

The rustling of clothes continued as the pair of inexperienced lovers stripped down to their underwear before turning back to face one another again.

Previously, Trevor had frozen up at the mere sight of Jessica’s bare-back, so it wasn’t hard to imagine his reaction to seeing her in nothing but a simple pair of black panties, the galaxy itself illuminating her from behind in a kind of ethereal glow.

Thanks to the style of dress she had chosen for tonight, Jessica hadn’t been wearing a bra from the start, so right now, her twin peaks were completely bare, and in Trevor’s eyes, they were nothing less than perfect.

She wasn’t particularly busty, at last not compared to some of the women in the ’reference materials’ he had studied in the past, but Jessica’s breasts were round, perky, and definitely big enough to fill one’s hand with.

Noticing him staring, Jessica swiftly used one of her arms to cover herself, feeling extremely embarrassed for some reason even though she knew this would happen.

Having the mountain paradise before him suddenly shrouded in fog drew a whimper from the poor sop, but it also allowed him to peel his eyes away from the mystical valley nestled between those peaks and meet eyes with their owner, only to discover that Jessica was also now staring somewhat hungrily at him.

As an active-duty soldier who never missed a single day of training, Trevor naturally had quite the cut figure. He wasn’t Adonis reborn, but at 180 cm tall and with some lightly-defined muscles, he was still quite easy on the eyes.

His face was rather plain, quite unlike a certain annoying pretty-boy on the base, but it was intimately familiar to Jessica, which was somehow comforting to her in this moment.

However, none of that really mattered right now, what mattered was the ambiguous mood which now filled the room, one that seemed to whisper in their ears and stoke fires in their hearts, promising wonders they had never even dared to dream of if only they had the courage to seize them.
