I Build a Top-tier Fishing Destination

Chapter 50: Chapter 52: Even Mr. Three Seconds Isn’t as Quick as You Guys

”Boss Chen, your fishing ground is Level 0 right now, isn’t it?”

The foreman took out a pack of cigarettes and handed one to Chen Yuan.

”Is there a problem?”

Chen Yuan didn’t deny it, nor was he surprised. The man was a worker robot customized by the system, so it was hardly strange for him to know the fishing ground’s status.

”The fishing ground needs to be upgraded, right? At the rate you’re going, don’t you think the upgrade speed is a bit slow, Boss Chen?”

A flicker of understanding crossed Chen Yuan’s eyes.

’Is the upgrade speed slow?’

’It really is slow. It’s only just over one percent so far, and the fishing ground has been open for several days. At this rate, I’m afraid it’ll be very difficult to complete the upgrade.’

’The key is, what kind of construction is needed to upgrade?’

’A million points... that’s equivalent to about five million yuan. How can a single fishing ground reasonably spend that much on construction?’

’This damn system would never allow any loopholes.’

”The better the fishing ground’s construction, the higher the system’s evaluation will be after the upgrade. The corresponding rewards will be better, too.”

The foreman puffed on his cigarette with a smile, his soft chuckle carrying a hidden meaning.

”You want to take on the contract for the fishing ground’s construction?”

Seeing that smile, Chen Yuan instantly understood.

”It’s not out of the question.”

The foreman didn’t deny it, his face breaking into a brilliant smile. ”You don’t need to worry about the engineering side of things, Boss Chen. Our survival depends on the system. If the upgrade fails, we’ll be the first ones to disappear.”

Chen Yuan didn’t doubt that.

If the upgrade failed, the system would probably explode. He didn’t know what would happen to him, but anything related to the system would surely be obliterated.

”Besides, the better you do, Boss Chen, the more perfect the system becomes. We also get to earn some points and live a little more comfortably. So our loyalty is absolute.”

’So he’s pledging his loyalty,’ Chen Yuan thought.

’He just wants to secure the construction contract for the fishing ground. That way, his future will be guaranteed.’

”Alright then. From now on, you’re in charge of the fishing ground’s construction. Do a good job, and there’ll be a bonus in it for you.”

Chen Yuan thought for a moment.

He would manage the business, and the foreman would handle the construction. This division of labor was indeed an excellent choice.

There was no need to doubt the loyalty of these robots.

As for their engineering skills...

’They’re a product of the system. Is there any reason to doubt them?’

”Thank you for your trust, Boss. Chen Yuan No. 1 will not let you down.”

”Chen Yuan No. 1? What the hell is that?”

Chen Yuan’s eyes widened in shock.

”I am the first simulation robot hired by Boss Chen and the first exclusive worker for the Chen Yuan Fishing Ground, so I was automatically assigned the designation No. 1.”

Chen Yuan felt his face darken.

’That name is way too random.’

’First there’s a Chen Yuan No. 1, next there’ll be a Chen Yuan No. 2, and then a Chen Yuan No. 3... It’s like I’m cloning myself or something.’

”That’s ridiculous. From now on, your name is Wang Tao.”

’If you don’t have a name, I’ll give you one. Just don’t try to mooch off my name.’

”Wang Tao... that’s a good name, too. Thank you for bestowing it upon me, Boss Chen,” Wang Tao said, grinning from ear to ear.

”Alright, stop grinning like an idiot and get the construction work done right. Just tell me what you need, and I’ll buy it.”

Chen Yuan flicked his cigarette butt away and waved his hand dismissively.

”Actually, there are a few things I need.”

Wang Tao didn’t hold back. He flicked his own cigarette butt away and rattled off a long list of items, leaving Chen Yuan completely stunned.

’Holy crap, this guy is really asking for the moon.’

’Is he building a private clubhouse or a fishing ground?’

”Boss, for the sake of the upgrade and the rewards, the Chen Yuan Fishing Ground has to be high-end, stylish, and classy.”

Wang Tao’s face was alight with excitement.

”You’re asking for too much. I don’t have enough points in my account. I haven’t even scraped together enough points for the permits yet.”

Chen Yuan was tempted.

With the system at his disposal, how could he be stingy? If he was going to do this, he was going to create the Hermès of the Fishing Realm.

And he trusted the system’s workers.

The problem was, points were just too scarce.

”How about this? I’ll lay down some of the pipes and wiring first. That’ll save us the trouble of doing it after the concrete is poured. It won’t cost too many points, either. We can do the rest after you’ve slowly earned more.”

”Fine. You arrange the construction work.”

After a moment’s thought, Chen Yuan nodded in agreement.

Building up the fishing ground wasn’t something that could be done overnight. If he didn’t have points, he could earn them slowly. As long as he managed the business well and kept the revenue up, what was there to fear about not being able to build the luxury brand of the Fishing Realm?

”Oh, right, you’ll have to buy streetlights. We can’t do without those if we’re going to open for night fishing.”

Wang Tao reminded him as he pulled out his phone.

”Okay.”

Chen Yuan made an ”OK” sign with his hand. No matter how much he scrimped, he couldn’t cut corners on the essentials.

”Get an excavator and a road roller to the site. For the roller, make it a small, walk-behind vibratory one...”

Wang Tao dialed a number and immediately started making arrangements.

Watching him, he really had the air of a head contractor.

Chen Yuan smiled without saying anything and ran over to help unload the goods. He felt a great weight lift from his shoulders.

Now that the pressure of construction was off his back, all he had to do was steer the business in the right direction and manage the fishing ground well. How could he not feel relieved?

”Found a construction team already?”

Chen Jun looked up, his face covered in dust.

”Wang Tao and his guys can take the job. Their price is pretty reasonable, so I contracted it out to them.”

Chen Yuan pointed at Wang Tao, who was still on the phone, then rolled up his sleeves to help.

After they finished unloading one truck, Chen Yuan lit a cigarette while waiting for the second. He offered one to Chen Dequan, who thanked him repeatedly as if he’d received a great blessing, leaving Chen Yuan rather speechless.

’When this is all over, I need to have a good talk with the couple.’

”Hey driver, you’ll have to turn around over there. There’s no room to turn here.”

Chen Dequan was full of initiative. Seeing the truck slowly approaching, he quickly ran forward to guide it. Liu Fang wiped the sweat from her brow and got ready to get back to work.

It took the few of them a solid two hours to unload three truckloads of materials.

Ultimately, it was because of the limited space; otherwise, they could have just tilted the truck beds and dumped everything directly on the ground.

”Have a bottle of water and take a break.”

Chen Yuan had just gone back with the second truck and returned on the third, carrying a case of drinks. Now that the work was done, he handed a bottle to everyone, including Chen Dequan and Liu Fang.

”Whoa, it’s already almost five o’clock.”

Sipping his water, Chen Jun noticed that some of the anglers at the fishing ground were starting to pack up their rods. He pulled out his phone to check the time—it was already 4:50. He was surprised they’d spent so much time on this little bit of work.

”Time to clear the grounds.”

Chen Yuan chugged a large gulp of his drink, tossed the empty bottle into a trash can, and got ready to get busy again.

Chen Jun and the others understood immediately.

If they were going to open for night fishing, they’d need to clear and reset the grounds in between sessions. They could use this opportunity to see how long it took to clear everyone out, which would help them schedule the night session later.

Chen Dequan and his wife didn’t stay behind either. They dusted themselves off and followed along.

”How’s the fishing, everyone? Anyone get skunked?”

Chen Yuan said with a chuckle, looking out over the entire pond.

”Who are you looking down on, Boss Chen?”

”If you get skunked at a fishing ground like this, you should just quit the Fishing Realm altogether.”

”Getting skunked at a two-acre mixed-fish pond... yeah, you’re definitely not cut out for the Fishing Realm.”

”Boss Chen, reservations open at five on the dot, right?”

The reservations were what the anglers really cared about. No wonder they were all packing up their rods early—they were getting ready to scramble for a spot at five.

”Reservations open on the dot.”

Chen Yuan nodded and also @-mentioned everyone in the group chat.

The quiet group chat instantly burst into activity.

”Time to unleash the hand speed I’ve honed over twenty-plus years of being single.”

”Only twenty-plus years? I’m at thirty-plus.”

”Trying to compete with my speed? You’re all just amateurs.”

”Pfft, Three-Second Man... no, I mean, Three-Second Bro. You’re definitely the fastest~”

The chat banter died down as quickly as it started, and all the anglers prepared to snatch a fishing spot.

But the silence didn’t last long.

A few seconds after Chen Yuan opened the reservation function in the mini-program, the group chat exploded.

”HOLY SHIT, what kind of speed is that?! The second I logged in, it already said all the spots were booked.”

”Damn, you guys are faster than people snatching red envelopes.”

”Not even Three-Second Bro is as fast as you guys.”

”Boss Chen, I’m begging for a spot!”

”On my knees begging you to open for night fishing! These spots are impossible to get~”

Both in the group chat and at the fishing ground itself, anglers were wailing and begging for a spot, strongly urging Chen Yuan to open for night fishing immediately.

Anyone who failed to get a spot would have to wait at least another day.

The itch was unbearable.
