I Died and Became a Noble's Heir

Chapter 365: Slyph vs. Jack

Jack’s form blurred as Abyssal Step activated, reality folding to place him directly in Sylph’s path. The wind spirit tried to redirect, her agility responding with speed that would have outpaced any mortal opponent.

But Jack had already anticipated the movement.

Another Abyssal Step, this time to her left. Then her right. Above. Behind. Each teleportation lasted barely a heartbeat, but the cumulative effect forced Sylph to constantly adjust her trajectory while avoiding something she couldn’t see.

’He’s herding me,’ Sylph realized, her black-and-green eyes narrowing as she recognized the tactical pattern. ’But toward what?’

The answer came when her wind currents suddenly destabilized.

Sylph flew directly into the invisible Static Orb field Jack had deployed, and the moment her essence touched the first sphere, it detonated.

[Static Orb - Triggered]

White lightning exploded in a four-meter radius. The blast caught Sylph completely, her small form engulfed in crackling energy.

[-29,240 HP]

But the explosion triggered a chain reaction.

The shockwave from the first detonation impacted three additional orbs, strategically positioned to overlap for maximum damage. They exploded simultaneously, their blast radii intersecting to create a kill zone where escape became geometrically impossible.

Sylph screamed, but this time it was from pain. As four consecutive explosions seared through her mythical essence.

She tried to generate wind barriers, but the orbs detonated faster than her defenses could form.

And Jack wasn’t finished herding.

Another Abyssal Step placed him above the explosion zone, and his boot came down in a devastating axe kick that drove Sylph deeper into the trap field.

Two more orbs detonated.

The cumulative damage, over 176,000 in the span of three seconds, actually caused Sylph’s health bar to visibly drop.

Not catastrophic against her million-plus total, but enough to prove Jack’s tactics had substance beyond raw power.

When the explosions finally cleared, Sylph hovered in the air with smoke rising from her singed outfit. Her yellow hair stood on end from residual static electricity, and she was visibly flustered now.

”Clever,” she admitted, brushing ash from her shoulders. ”Forcing me into a pre-positioned kill zone. Very smart. You’re intelligent and strong. Rhys never had a chance against you.”

Through Soul Link, more notifications flooded Jack’s awareness.

’Almost there,’ Jack thought, feeling Pho’s methodical slaughter accelerating. ’Just one more.’

[Enemy Defeated by Bound Soul]

[Sanguine Accelerator: Stack 10/10]

[BONUS ACTIVATED: 10% Magic Damage converted to Lifesteal]

[BONUS ACTIVATED: +10% Movement Speed]

[Crimson Recovery: +188 HP/sec for 4 seconds]

[Crimson Recovery: +376 MP/sec for 4 seconds]

[Demonic Frenzy: +938 HP/sec]

The synergy clicked into place like a key in a lock. Jack’s sustain reached critical mass. Every point of magic damage he dealt would now heal him, stacking with the already absurd regeneration from Pho’s hunting and Demonic Mastery.

’Pho, stop,’ Jack commanded through Soul Link. ’That’s enough for now.’

’Spoiling my fun?’ Pho’s mental voice had this sarcastic, disappointed vibe. ’I was just getting into a rhythm.’

’Save it. I might need more later.’

’As you command, master.’

Jack refocused on Sylph, who had begun gathering wind with renewed intensity. The atmospheric pressure dropped so dramatically that several remaining intact windows in the garrison shattered from the differential pressures.

”Let’s see how your tricks handle raw power, human.”

Five wind blades materialized around Sylph. Each one was ten feet long, glowing with condensed energy that made the air itself scream in protest.

They launched simultaneously from different angles, creating a pattern that blocked any normal escape route.

[Static Shroud - Activated]

White lightning erupted across his skin, forming a second skin of pure electrical energy that crackled with intensity. The coating was thin, perhaps a millimeter thick, but the power density was absolute.

The first wind blade struck his shoulder.

It evaporated.

The compressed air making up the technique ceased to exist the moment it contacted the Static Shroud.

Instant dissolution as electrical energy overwhelmed the wind magic’s coherence.

The second blade met the same fate. Then the third, fourth, and fifth. All five attacks dissolving against Jack’s armor without leaving so much as a scratch.

Sylph’s eyes widened. ”What...”

Jack was already on the move, his enhanced movement speed from Sanguine Accelerator making him faster than before. He closed the distance to Sylph in a blur, his right fist driving toward her tiny form with precision that left no room for error.

The punch connected and the moment Jack’s Static Shroud-covered knuckles touched Sylph’s chest, the armor discharged.

Concentrated white lightning flooded from Jack’s fist directly into Sylph’s body, the full force of the shroud’s stored energy releasing in a single devastating pulse.

[-288,960 HP]

Sylph flew backward like a bullet, her small form creating a sonic boom as she broke the sound barrier. She crashed through one of the garrison’s support pillars, the reinforced stone shattering on impact, and embedded herself in the wall beyond.

or a moment, she didn’t move.

Then the wind exploded outward with a force that cracked the entire wall. Sylph extracted herself from the impact crater, and her expression had shifted to something Jack hadn’t seen yet.

Genuine anger.

”Enough games,” her voice had lost all playful mischief. ”You want to see what a mythical spirit can actually do? Fine.”

Her hands moved so subtly, it looked like she was dancing. The wind responded with apocalyptic force.

A hurricane formed. The wind speeds exceeded anything Jack had experienced, and debris caught in the vortex became supersonic projectiles.

The technique screamed toward Jack with the weight of divine wrath behind it.

Jack’s hand rose, fingers splayed, and lightning gathered in his palm with desperate speed.

[Call of the Lightning]

[Stack: 10]

[Stack: 15]

[Stack: 20]

[Stack: 25]

Every bolt in the storm clouds overhead answered his summons simultaneously. The sky itself seemed to empty as lightning converged on Jack’s position, pouring into his extended hand until the power threatened to overwhelm even divine channeling’s capacity.

The hurricane pressed closer about to hit Jack and Slyph could see a shit eating grin through the hurricane. ’Fuck me.’ She thought to herself. She realized by seeing this grin, she knew that Jack had cooked something up to stop this.

[Arc Reversal - Activated]

[Incoming Damage: 100,000]

[Reflection: 100,000 × 1.2 = 120,000]

[Lightning Enhancement: 6,880 × 25 × 1.5 = 258,000]

[Total Reflected Damage: 378,000]

White lightning exploded from Jack’s aura to meet the hurricane head-on. The reflected attack carried not just the hurricane’s own power bounced back, but twenty-five stacks worth of divine lightning enhancement.

The two forces collided in midair with an impact that shattered every remaining window in the garrison and sent cracks spiderwebbing through the floor. For a moment, everything was balanced. It seemed like the world stopped for a moment.

Then the reflection went back in full force.

The hurricane destabilized, its carefully orchestrated wind patterns disrupted by the lightning’s opposing force. The technique collapsed into chaotic gusts that scattered harmlessly, and the reflected lightning continued toward Sylph with inexorable momentum.

Her eyes went wide as she realized her own attack was coming back at her. She tried to dodge.

The reflected lightning caught her mid-evasion, divine power punching through her hastily erected barriers like they were tissue paper. The damage had left a serious mark on her.
