Chapter 2068: Chapter 286: Scholar

”Yeah, even Master Nanyu and I find this matter quite perplexing. In our view, Master rejecting the Four Divine Masters might be because he has never had any dealings with them. Moreover, when the Northern Divine Master came seeking divine medicine, his tone was arrogant, showing no respect to Master, almost like issuing an order, which naturally displeased Master and led to his refusal! However, I distinctly remember the first time I met the Holy Son; not only was he handsome, but he was also very amiable. After Master politely declined, the Holy Son was not upset at all. He even expressed envy for Master’s free and unrestrained lifestyle, stating that if he weren’t in his position, he too would wish to live freely and that he wouldn’t trouble Master to serve him. He even said he would come back often to have tea with Master if there was a chance. Even though Master refused him, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything harsh in return. Still, Nanyu and I could never understand why Master would refuse the Holy Son! We both felt that if Medicine God Mountain were to align with the Holy Son, its prospects would be more promising...” Nan Feng said, still greatly puzzled to this day.

Mo Jiuli’s eyes flashed slightly upon hearing this; it seemed this Medicine God was indeed somewhat unusual...

To Mo Jiuli, the Medicine God’s rejection of Mo Ziyang was not surprising. After all, in her view, Mo Ziyang was not the most senior in the Divine World. However, the fact that this Medicine God, now her Grandmaster, dared to refuse even the Four Divine Masters was quite enigmatic. Who exactly was this Medicine God, to be personally sought out and refused the Four Divine Masters’ attempts to win him over?

”Master, how long have you and Master Nanyu been following Grandmaster?” Mo Jiuli asked casually.

”About tens of thousands of years, I suppose. It’s said that the two of us were picked up by Master in the Underworld and have been by his side ever since. From as far back as we can remember, it’s always been us two on Medicine God Mountain, along with you and the Scholar who brought you up here, and Master. Then there are a few Transformed Divine Beasts from the Beast Clan who often visit Medicine God Mountain; they are the Ancestors of the Beast Clan and have a good relationship with Master...” Nan Feng explained.

Mo Jiuli, upon hearing this, thought of the Scholar who had just brought her and Di Minghan up the mountain. He appeared just a young, unassuming boy, yet was older than even her masters!

”That Scholar seems much younger, cough cough, a lot younger than the Masters...” Mo Jiuli said a bit shyly.

”Hahaha, you little girl, what’s there to worry about saying the truth? The Scholar’s name is indeed Scholar, and he is far older than us. What’s peculiar about him is not only that his name is Scholar, but his appearance hasn’t changed at all in tens of thousands of years. When we were children, he looked like that, and now we’re old men, yet he still looks the same. Master says it’s due to his constitution, but even Master doesn’t understand exactly why! The Scholar takes care of Master and our daily needs, and though he looks like a mere scholar, his strength surpasses ours...” Nan Feng said with a smile.

”I can tell! By the way, Master, how did Grandmaster get poisoned?” Mo Jiuli smiled and asked, keeping a mental note about what was said.

”We don’t know about that either. A few years ago, Master went into seclusion, and shortly after he finished, he became like this. Scholar and both of us have tried countless ways to cure Master, but nothing has worked. Worse still, since last year, Master has fallen into a coma, and the situation has been getting increasingly severe without any signs of improvement...” Nan Feng’s mood instantly sank as he said this.
