Chapter 1695: Chapter 997. Ghost World (2)

Chapter 997.

As they spoke, Dawen and Xiaowen had already brought Mo Jiuli and Lingling to the riverside of the Huangquan River. Mo Jiuli looked at the waters of the Huangquan River and the vibrant red Equinox Flowers on both banks...

”Legend has it that a long time ago, guarding the banks of the Santu River were two spirits, one was a flower sprite named Man Zhu, and the other was a leaf sprite named Sha Hua. They guarded the Santu River for thousands of years but could never lay eyes on one another...

Because when the flowers bloomed, the leaves couldn’t be seen; and when the leaves grew, the flowers were not in sight. Between the flowers and leaves, they could never meet, eternally missing each other, lifetime after lifetime. Yet, they missed each other madly, tormented by this deep pain, until one day, they decided to defy the gods’ decree and secretly meet once.

That year, the red-blooming Manzhu Shahua flowers were set off by the alluring green, blossoming in extraordinary beauty. However, for this, the gods laid blame upon them. Man Zhu and Sha Hua were cast into the cycle of reincarnation and cursed to never be together, condemned to suffer by the banks of the Huangquan River for all eternity.

Since then, Manzhu Shahua came to be known as the Equinox Flower, meaning a flower that blooms in paradise, its shape resembling hands praying towards heaven...

Henceforth, these flowers only bloom on Huangquan Road. Every time Man Zhu and Sha Hua are reborn, the scent of the Equinox Flowers on the Huangquan Road reminds them of their past lives, making them vow not to be parted again, only to fall into the cursed cycle once more...

These flowers are truly beautiful, incomparable in their desolate brilliance and poisonous beauty, as if alive. Yet, they are poignant, flowers that have never been blessed, much like some feelings that receive no blessing.

The eternal separation of flower and leaf is like fated love missed, the seemingly dazzling red resembling flames evokes the aura of death in people, the perfect exterior unable to conceal the bleak soul...

What they guard eternally is just repeated missed opportunities, they cherish each other, know each other, and yet never see each other. Even in sadness, it bears witness to the existence of the truest love, thus, the Manzhu Shahua is also called the Equinox Flower.” Mo Jiuli said indifferently.

Dawen and Xiaowen were surprised to hear this and unknowingly, when they looked again at the Equinox Flowers they often saw, they instantly found them several times more beautiful than before! As they gazed at Mo Jiuli, their eyes held a hint of admiration. For a human to understand the flowers of their Ghost World so well and speak so eloquently was truly impressive...

After Mo Jiuli and her companions left, a man wearing a golden mask and dressed in purple appeared where they had been, staring dazedly at Mo Jiuli’s retreating figure. Recalling her words and looking at the Equinox Flowers beside him, a charmingly wicked smile appeared on the man’s lips...

”Master, we should go!” a person in black clothes said to the man from the shadows.

”Crane, stay behind to secretly protect her, but don’t let her discover you!” the man’s eyes flickered slightly as he said.

”Master, why? She’s so weak, even with the Ghost Envoy’s token, she’ll be discovered sooner or later, in a few days she’ll be devoured completely. Besides, we don’t know her, why should we protect her?” The dark guard named Crane appeared slightly displeased as he spoke.

”That’s an order, ensure her safety, and don’t let her find out. If anything happens to her, don’t bother coming back!” the masked man said coldly.

”Yes, Master!” The man in black lowered his head inside the room, then glanced in the direction of Mo Jiuli, and vanished from sight.
