“I wonder if I could consult that Senior in the shadows; I have some doubts regarding my Saber Intent Cultivate.”

No longer discussing the matter of the expelled army, Chen Zhan remained silent for a while before cupping his hands to request Xue Qinghe.

Xue Qinghe was startled; he didn’t expect this person to be so bold as to actively request guidance upon their first meeting.

Tang Shan’s eyes flickered. Saber Intent and the Lance Intent on Snake Lance Douluo were exactly the opportunities he had been looking for to potentially Breakthrough to Elixir Strength. However, because he wasn’t well-acquainted with Snake Lance Douluo before, he hadn’t felt comfortable asking. Now that Chen Zhan had taken the initiative to ask, perhaps he could take this chance to learn more about it.

After communicating with Snake Lance Douluo via secret transmission for a moment, Xue Qinghe nodded. “Fine, you may exchange ideas, but from now on, you must be loyal to me.”

Chen Zhan only hesitated for a moment before quickly making his choice. He stood up and bowed deeply to Xue Qinghe: “Greetings, Your Highness.”

He thought it through clearly. He was originally from the Heaven Dou Empire, and since he was no longer in the army, swearing loyalty to the First Prince of Heaven Dou was not a problem at all. Not to mention, the First Prince not only had a disciple he thought highly of but also a Senior with unfathomable cultivation and astonishing Lance Intent.

“Since you’ve sworn loyalty, you must never betray it, otherwise the consequences will be more than you can bear.”

Silently, an old man with a posture as upright as a pine tree stood beside Chen Zhan, gently patting his shoulder. His tone was flat but carried an unquestionable deterrent Aura.

Chen Zhan was startled. To have someone appear beside him without him noticing at all—how terrifying must this cultivation be? The other party’s strength might be even higher than he had imagined.

“Let’s go to the training ground; the space is open,” Snake Lance Douluo instructed calmly.

“Yes, Senior,” Chen Zhan hurriedly agreed, then looked at Xue Qinghe and said respectfully, “Then Your Highness, I shall go to consult the Senior first.”

Xue Qinghe waved his hand and stood up. “Let’s go together. I also want to see what Lance Intent is and broaden my horizons.”

“”

“Count me in.” Seeing that even Xue Qinghe was going to observe, Tang Shan didn’t hold back and hurriedly spoke up to follow, the anticipation in his eyes impossible to hide.

“What do you think Saber Intent, Lance Intent, or Fist Intent and the like actually are?” Snake Lance Douluo stood on the wide training ground, looking at the middle-aged man in front of him with his hands behind his back, and asked.

Tang Shan, standing by the edge of the field, was delighted. He hadn’t expected Snake Lance Douluo’s first question to pique his curiosity. If he could understand the essence of these “Intents,” he might be able to reverse-engineer a corresponding cultivation method to help himself Breakthrough to Elixir Strength.

“It should be the sublimation of weapon or limb techniques after reaching a certain level.” Chen Zhan’s answer was also Tang Shan’s understanding. Having read so many novels in his past life, anyone who possessed so-called Saber Intent or Fist Intent had basically reached the peak of technique; this was a very common perception.

“Wrong.” Snake Lance Douluo’s words left Chen Zhan stunned. He didn’t dare to refute immediately and hurriedly bowed: “Please guide me, Senior.”

“The so-called Saber Intent and Fist Intent are not some sublimation of technique; the core is your thinking and thoughts.” Snake Lance Douluo still had his hands behind his back, his eyes as sharp as a keen Snake Lance.

“It’s not that you comprehend will through extraordinary technique, but rather, after first comprehending will, your technique naturally becomes extraordinary. Because at that time, your will is the will of your weapon or limbs. The goal of your will is the goal your weapon or limbs must achieve. When the two become one, the weapon or limbs gain thought, and the technique naturally improves.”

Tang Shan fell into deep thought. Snake Lance Douluo’s words seemed to open a door to a whole new World for him, allowing him to vaguely grasp some key points, yet there was still a sense of blurring, like looking at flowers through a fog.

“Then how should one improve this will?” The thoughtful Chen Zhan bowed once more to ask, his face showing clear excitement. Obviously, these few short sentences had already benefited him greatly.

However, Snake Lance Douluo did not continue answering but changed the subject: “After you have made the proper contributions to Your Highness, I will guide you on the subsequent methods. This explanation today shall serve as a meeting gift for your loyalty to Your Highness.”

“Very well then, thank you for your guidance, Senior.” Chen Zhan was somewhat disappointed. Although they had exchanged fewer than ten sentences, he had already gained much. He had wanted to ask more about his doubts in cultivation, but in the end, his wish was not granted.

“Go back and rest, or you can stay here. In a few days, follow me back to Heaven Dou City; there will be arrangements later.” Hearing Xue Qinghe’s words, Chen Zhan was very tactful; he respectfully took his leave and turned to depart.

“Tang Shan, feel free to ask Senior She any questions you have, don’t hesitate.” Xue Qinghe looked at Tang Shan with a smile, his tone friendly.

Tang Shan was taken aback and felt a bit embarrassed. “Your Highness, is my little intention that obvious?”

“The joy in your eyes can’t be hidden at all; it’s not like I can’t see it.” Xue Qinghe pursed his lips, his tone carrying a bit of teasing, without the air of a prince.

“Then Your Highness, I won’t be polite.” Saying this, Tang Shan turned to Snake Lance Douluo with a respectful attitude: “Senior She, I wonder how one should comprehend this will?”

Previously, he had thought that so-called will was the sublimation of technique, but Snake Lance Douluo’s words undoubtedly shattered his guess. He had also explicitly told him that it wasn’t technique sublimating into will, but will driving the improvement of technique. This couldn’t help but remind Tang Shan of a saying: It’s not that the older it is, the stronger it is, but the stronger it is, the older it is.

“That is naturally no problem.” Looking at Tang Shan, Snake Lance Douluo agreed very readily, without any of the coldness he showed Chen Zhan earlier. A faint smile even appeared on his face, and his attitude softened considerably.

What a joke. Both being subordinates of Xue Qinghe, could a minor Chen Zhan compare to Tang Shan? One is the owner of a first spirit ring that appears once in a thousand years, while you have ordinary spirit rings of however many years. One’s master is the World-renowned Grandmaster, while who is your master or father, and what background do they have? One is young with outstanding talent and an unlimited future, worthy of focused nurturing, while you are already middle-aged with slowing cultivation progress and a limited future ceiling. Is there even a need to say who is more important?

The thoughts in his mind flashed by, and Snake Lance Douluo composed himself, quietly waiting for Tang Shan’s question.

“Senior She, how specifically should having one’s own thoughts be understood? Is it attaching mental force to one’s limbs?” Tang Shan went straight to the point, asking the part he was most confused about.

“Naturally not. mental force is mental force, and the will of thought is the will of thought. Although the two are related and can assist each other, their essence is still different and cannot be conflated.” Snake Lance Douluo stroked the beard on his chin, his tone peaceful, clearly having expected Tang Shan to have such a doubt.

“I know it’s hard for you to understand the concept of limbs carrying thought; you always feel there’s some mystery hidden within. But I can tell you, there are no complex mysteries; the core is very simple. You must first think clearly about why you strike, why you use this weapon, why you act. You must have a clear and firm goal in your heart, anchoring your consciousness firmly to this goal without deviating or wavering. This is the foundation of carrying will.”

“Anchor.” Hearing these two words, Tang Shan’s heart jolted. Countless thoughts intersected and wove together, and his understanding of will instantly made a leap forward. Most of his previous sense of blurring dissipated.

“In fact, some Spirit Masters unconsciously carry their own will in their attacks during life-and-death struggles, and the will does indeed take effect. It’s just that they don’t realize it themselves, and they can’t actively maintain this state.”

Having figured out the essence of will, Tang Shan thought for a moment after hearing Snake Lance Douluo’s words and gave an understanding that made the other party very satisfied.

“Like Killing Intent. When one truly wants to put an opponent to death, the attack will contain a thick Killing Intent. This is the most basic will. People with weak hearts will be deterred by this will, becoming flustered before the fight even begins.”

“Exactly. In fact, attaching will to offense and defense is not difficult. Spirit Masters who have truly fought to the death have all had such experiences. The real difficulty lies in maintaining this temporary state for a long time and being able to actively control and utilize it.” Snake Lance Douluo spoke slowly, detailing the essence of will.

“We must find the original intention behind our strikes and actions, determine a practical goal or a belief worth holding onto, and then continue to practice it. Every future battle is a practice and reinforcement of this grand goal. Over time, the will will naturally become stronger and more stable.”

Just as he finished speaking, a giant Snake Lance suddenly appeared in Snake Lance Douluo’s hand. A terrifying Aura emanated from him, instantly enveloping the entire training ground.

“Talking is useless. Let me give you a feel for my Lance Intent!”

With a low shout, Snake Lance Douluo slowly thrust out the long lance in his hand. The movement was slow but carried a Qian Jun force. Tang Shan felt his whole body stiffen, as if he were being stared down by a prehistoric giant python, and he was instantly unable to move. Although he didn’t feel any spirit power pressure, his entire body seemed to be forcibly bound by some invisible force. Even his breathing became stagnant, and he could only watch helplessly as the tip of the Snake Lance approached him inch by inch, a suffocating sense of pressure washing over him.

“This is the power of will. It is not restricted by spirit power, yet it can strike directly at the heart. In my view, my Snake Lance can be insidious and venomous, catching one off guard, or it can be fierce and peerless, indestructible. This is the core of my Lance Intent, the belief I have always held onto.”

The sharp Qi pricked Tang Shan’s forehead with a burst of pain as Snake Lance Douluo’s voice slowly rang in his ear.

In the next second, the invisible force binding his body quietly dissipated. Tang Shan couldn’t help but let out a long breath. Without him realizing it, his back—despite the great control he should have over his body—was already soaked in a dense layer of cold sweat, and his heart was still thumping wildly.

“Thank you for your guidance, Senior. Only today have I truly witnessed the power of will; I have benefited greatly.” Tang Shan hurriedly tidied his somewhat messy clothes and solemnly expressed his gratitude to Snake Lance Douluo.

“It’s nothing. These things are nothing compared to the help you’ve given His Highness; this simple guidance isn’t a big deal at all.”

“Senior overpraises me. I only did what was within my power,” Tang Shan said sincerely. “I only proposed a crude plan to Your Highness. The subsequent allocation of manpower and execution were all personally arranged by Your Highness. I truly didn’t make much of a contribution and don’t dare to take credit.”

“The Young Lord and this kid are really alike, both always thinking the other’s contribution is greater.”

Porcupinefish Douluo’s voice rang in Snake Lance Douluo’s ear via secret transmission.

“His help is real, and his talent is good; he’s worth nurturing with care.”

Snake Lance Douluo looked at Tang Shan with a serious expression and said solemnly, “In the future, if you have any doubts in your cultivation, you can come and ask me anytime. Don’t be restrained.”

Seeing Tang Shan nod in agreement, Snake Lance Douluo then transmitted back to Porcupinefish Douluo: “Exactly. When the Young Lord supported this kid back then, that’s what he told us too, always saying this kid was a big help and he hadn’t done much. Their personalities really get along.”

“With a talent like Tang Shan helping, the Young Lord’s great undertaking will surely succeed.” Porcupinefish Douluo’s tone was full of joy.

“Your Highness, are there any other instructions?” Looking at Xue Qinghe standing aside with a smile, Tang Shan felt a bit awkward. He had just been so focused on pondering cultivation and consulting Snake Lance Douluo that he had left Xue Qinghe, his golden thigh, to the side—it was really inappropriate, so he hurriedly tried to make amends.

Xue Qinghe curiously observed the somewhat nervous Tang Shan. His gentle smile held a bit more heartfelt sincerity, and his tone was as friendly as ever: “No instructions. As I said, as long as you Cultivate in peace and grow up as quickly as possible, that is the greatest help to me, more useful than doing anything else. Also, there’s no need to be so polite with me. You don’t always have to treat me as a prince; just treat me as a friend. Don’t be so stiff.”

“Then Your Highness, I won’t be polite. I certainly won’t fail Your Highness’s trust. I will go all out to Cultivate and grow up as quickly as possible.”

Although Tang Shan’s words still carried some politeness, his body had completely relaxed, and his tone was much more natural, devoid of his previous stiffness.
