My Youth Began With Him

Then, she scanned the crowd with disdain. “How old are you all? In your twenties or teens? Are you even fully developed? Why are you chasing after celebrity gossip rather than studying for your future? Are your hearts really so made of glass that you can’t take it when your favorite celebrities date? Let me ask you, if Ni Yang doesn’t date Jie, will he date you? You are all perverted little brats! Your parents didn’t raise you and pay for your tuition just so you can come out and do this to other innocent people! I thought you liked Ni Yang, so why would you attack the person he likes and harass her! Are you human? You should all be old enough to know better!”

“Who the hell are you, what gives you the right to lecture us!” a fan spat back at Huo Mian.

“Who gives me the right? Let me tell you, Ni Yang is as good as my brother, and Chen Jie is my long-time assistant. They’ve been in love for a long time and have kept it under the radar until now. Their relationship is stable, and the only reason Ni Yang didn’t announce his relationship is that he wanted to protect her. He didn’t want her to get hurt, and now you’re hurting him! Ni Yang would die of sadness if he found out what you’re doing!”

“You’re lying! Ni Yang would never fall for an ugly duckling like her! We won’t believe anything you say!”

“I don’t care if you believe me, and I’m too busy to say anything else to you. But let me tell you, don’t you dare harass my employee here, or else I won’t let you off the hook easily!”

Huo Mian glared at the reporters. “What are you looking at? Go home! This is a hospital, not a place for you to dig up scandals!”

Then, Huo Mian pulled Chen Jie into the hospital, and dozens of security guards blocked the troublemakers outside.

The two of them went to the emergency room, and Huo Mian carefully applied medication to Chen Jie’s wounds.

“Does it hurt?” Huo Mian felt bad.

Chen Jie shook her head.

“You really underestimated Ni Yang’s fans, they’re crazy and don’t care about anything. I told you not to come and hide until this scandal passes, but you didn’t listen,” Huo Mian lectured.

“I didn’t think they’d be so scary…” Chen Jie replied, regretting her earlier decision.

“Where’s Ni Yang? Does he know what happened? Have you seen each other yet?”

“Not yet, but we’ve been talking on WeChat. He’s promoting his new movie in Jing City and won’t be back until tonight. He’s really surprised as well and has no idea how Imperial Star is going to deal with it. I’m really worried, Chief… I really don’t want to be the woman that hinders his career, I don’t want him to lose everything because of me.” Chen Jie loved Ni Yang very much, so from day one, she had felt incredibly inferior. In the beginning, she didn’t even want to accept his feelings but now, she took care of him like they were a married couple.

Ni Yang, on the other hand, was a loyal boyfriend. When he first met Huo Mian, he suffered from depression, and it was Huo Mian who helped her become the optimistic man he was today. After meeting Chen Jie, he smiled even more than he used to.

Therefore, Chen Jie was incredibly important to Ni Yang…

“Don’t think too much, he’ll be fine… Idols don’t need to hide their relationships in this day and age, they now use their children and marriage to expand their reputation and show to the world that they can be a good father and husband. Ni Yang’s not a child anymore, he’s okay to assume this responsibility. Stop worrying and wait for him to come home. Then we’ll decide what to do,” Huo Mian quietly consoled Chen Jie, who nodded.

Huo Mian then gave Chen Jie the rest of the day off, and the latter went home after leaving from the side door.

After a brief phone conversation with Ni Yang, they decided to meet up once he got back to the city in the evening. At the end of the day, he had only Huo Mian to discuss with when something of this magnitude happened.

After lunch, Huo Mian went back to her office to see Su Yu standing outside alone.
