My Youth Began With Him

Embarrassed, Huo Mian sat up and decided to stop clinging to Qin Chu like a piece of velcro.

Finally, they arrived at Café en Seine…

“Go ahead, I’ll wait for you here.”

Huo Mian nodded.

Then, she got off the car with her purse and entered the café.

Su Yu’s new car, a white Bugatti, was parked in the most obvious spot right in front of the café.

He arrived very early, 20 minutes earlier than their scheduled meeting time.

He canceled all his plans, just to meet with Huo Mian.

After all, it was Huo Mian’s first time asking to meet him…

“You’re here so early.” Huo Mian smiled.

“No, I just got here.” Su Yu felt a little shy.

Then, he immediately called the waitress over…

“Excuse me, please give her a hot cappuccino”.

“Thank you.” Huo Mian sat down opposite Su Yu and took off her white down jacket.

Underneath was a simple white blouse with a stand-up collar, with a bow-tie pattern around her neck.

“Did the sun rise from the west today?” Su Yu looked at her happily.

“What?” This question caught Huo Mian by surprise.

“You actually invited me to coffee.”

“Is that surprising?”

“Yes, really surprising…” Su Yu looked down while slowly mixing the milk and sugar into his coffee with a stirrer.

“I invited you out today because I needed to talk to you.”

“I know. You wouldn’t invite me out for no reason.” Su Yu looked up.

He had already mentally prepared before coming…

Someone like Huo Mian wouldn’t call him up and ask to meet him just to catch up.

Su Yu’s directness actually made Huo Mian a bit uncomfortable.

“So what did you want to tell me… are you pregnant?” Su Yu asked calmly.

He thought about it a million times and often wondered how he would feel after finding out that Huo Mian was pregnant.

Possibly happy for her? Or maybe he would feel a bit depressed…

But even he didn’t expect himself to ask this question so breezily.

“Ahem…” After hearing what Su Yu asked, Huo Mian started coughing.

Why did everyone pay so much attention to her pregnancy?

It made her feel like she was barren…

“No, you’ve got it wrong, it’s not about me. It’s something about you”.

“About me?” Su Yu looked at Huo Mian as he raised his eyebrows slightly.

“Yes, it’s regarding the beauty pageant your company is hosting.”

Su Yu cut in before Huo Mian could finish her thought, “Did my mom go and find you?”

“Yes,” Huo Mian nodded casually but calmly. She was not good at lying.

“Just ignore her, she old, so she’s suffering from menopause…”

Su Yu continued drinking coffee with his head down.

“But I think she’s just looking out for you, so why don’t you consider it…”

“Huo Mian.” Su Yu suddenly looked up into her eyes and called her by her full name.

Huo Mian looked at him quietly.

“You can choose to not love me, but please don’t control me and ask me to love another person… I don’t like other people controlling my life. I like to make my decisions with my own heart.”

Su Yu seemed a bit angry.

Once Huo Mian started talking, it was obvious to him that his mom had asked her to persuade him into agreeing to that ridiculous mass audition. It wasn’t like he was an emperor, why was he being forced to find a concubine?

“I’m not trying to interfere in your life. I just think it might be good for you… After all, you can’t be alone for the rest of your life.”

“But it’s not a rule that you have to get married and have kids in order to live life. Everyone has the right to choose their lifestyle… so why do I have to be the same as others?” questioned Su Yu.

Huo Mian remained silent.

Both of them stopped talking, making the atmosphere a little awkward.

Finally, Huo Mian bit her lips and looked up at Su Yu. “Su Yu, let me ask you, does your promise to me still stand?”
