Reincarnation Of The Strongest Sword God

Chapter 989 – Fourth Divine Set’s Might

“Did Tarnished Wind redeem it?” The cries of the players in the plaza momentarily stunned South Lake. Then, confusion appeared on his face as he muttered, “But that shouldn’t be possible! Red-Tailed Dragon should still be short of several million Undying Souls! Even if it raised its purchase price to 30,000 Star Coins, there’s no way it can collect so many so quickly!”

“Could Tarnished Wind have reached an agreement with the other powers?” Apocalypse wondered, his expression turning ugly.

Several million Undying Souls might not be a significant amount, but it was by no means little, either. There was no way Red-Tailed Dragon could get such an amount through the various powers’ members alone. The only explanation was that it had purchased the Undying Souls in the possession of the other pseudo-apex powers. However, if that were the case, it would be the worst possible news for Holy Dragon Spear.

Holy Dragon Spear had expended considerable resources and Star Coins to obtain the Undying Souls it currently possessed. If these Undying Souls ended up becoming useless, the adventurer team would suffer severe losses.

“That shouldn’t be the case,” South Lake said firmly, shaking his head. “If Tarnished Wind decided to accept the other powers’ conditions, Red-Tailed Dragon wouldn’t have needed to announce it was raising its purchase price. The other powers would have gladly sold their Undying Souls at the previous price.”

“Tarnished Wind must have put a lot of work into keeping his actions a secret to finish collecting the remaining Undying Souls without the other powers noticing,” Apocalypse sighed.

Unlike Holy Dragon Spear and Red-Tailed Dragon, the other pseudo-apex powers had long since given up on competing for the Flame God Set. To dispose of the Undying Souls in their possession, they kept a very close eye on the Undying Souls Holy Dragon Spear and Red-Tailed Dragon possessed. This was so they could ensure neither power could collect the necessary 50 million Undying Souls.

Yet, Tarnished Wind had collected 50 million Undying Souls for Red-Tailed Dragon without the other pseudo-apex powers noticing. This came as a huge surprise to Apocalypse.

While Apocalypse was lamenting Holy Dragon Spear’s situation, a young man walked into the Advanced Tent occupied by Apocalypse and South Lake. Despite looking no older than 20, the young man was already a Level 236, Tier 6 Ranger who had reached the fifth-floor standard. He was also fully equipped with Fragmented Divine Artifacts, and his strength was no weaker than the chosen ones nurtured by apex powers.

“Dayspring, did something happen on Red-Tailed Dragon’s side?” Apocalypse asked.

Dayspring was among the latest batch of chosen ones nurtured by Holy Dragon Spear. While not as talented as Heiser, he was still a genius that Holy Dragon Spear would only see once every few years. Outside of grinding in the Flame Dragon God’s Nest, he was tasked with keeping an eye on Red-Tailed Dragon’s situation whenever he was on break.

“I’m not sure what happened, but Red-Tailed Dragon seemed to go crazy after news came from the plaza that the Flame God Set had disappeared. In addition to mustering its forces, Red-Tailed Dragon sealed off the plaza with a Great Grandmaster War Barrier,” Dayspring reported.

“Red-Tailed Dragon has sealed off the plaza?” South Lake was stunned. “Wasn’t Tarnished Wind the one who redeemed the Flame God Set?”

“That can’t be… Who else has the Undying Souls to redeem it apart from us?” Apocalypse was equally confused.

As powers that had operated in the Flame Dragon God’s Nest for quite some time, they knew it was impossible for the average power to obtain 50 million Undying Souls without relying on others. Collecting 40 million Undying Souls had severely impacted Holy Dragon Spear’s and Red-Tailed Dragon’s daily operations. Apocalypse found it hard to imagine any other power could collect 50 million Undying Souls so quickly and without anybody noticing.

“No, there’s still one other power! It’s just that…” South Lake suddenly thought of Zero Wing. However, when he recalled the Nebula Consortium’s recent interference, he couldn’t believe Zero Wing would be foolish enough to come to the Flame Dragon God’s Nest to redeem the Flame God Set. After all, the protection of an apex power[1] was useless against the Nebula Consortium. “Regardless, we should go and take a look! Apocalypse, have all our experts gather at the treasury plaza!”

“Understood!” Apocalypse promptly contacted all the Holy Dragon Spear members in the Flame Dragon God’s Nest.

…

While Holy Dragon Spear assembled its forces, Shi Feng looked at the Flame God Set in his bag space with great joy.

After waiting for so long, it’s finally mine! Shi Feng’s heart pounded as he studied the eight-piece equipment set.

The Flame God Set!

It ranked fourth among the Six Great Divine Sets of the human race’s Greater God’s Domain. In his previous life, Holy Dragon Spear had relied on it to make a name for itself among the human race and the Holy Race. The set had even elevated Holy Dragon Spear into an adventurer team that every power had to be cautious of.

Shi Feng never dared to have designs for the Six Great Divine Sets in his previous life. After all, the Six Great Divine Sets were feared by even apex powers. The manpower and resources required to procure one of these sets could deter even apex powers from trying, let alone weaker powers.

But now, he had redeemed the complete Flame God Set just by spending 50 million Undying Souls. This situation felt like a dream to him.

When Shi Feng inspected the Flame God Set’s statistics, he was dumbfounded.

Flame God Set’s Four-piece Effect: Provides an unrestricted 100% increase to all Basic Attributes and a 10% increase to all Skill and Spell Completion Rates. Grants the use of the Tier 7 Profound Active Skill Flame God’s Roar.

Flame God Set’s Eight-piece Effect: Improves the user’s Law Projection by one rank. Reduces Equipment Requirement by 50%. Grants the Tier 7 Profound Passive Skill Dragon’s Will, weakening the effects of mental attacks by 90% and Law Projections by 50%. (If the user is not the Flame Dragon God’s Legatee, the Flame God Set’s quality will be lowered to the Fragmented Divine Artifact standard, and the set effects will be halved.)

Sure enough, there’s no way the Main God System would let players get a complete version of one of the Six Great Divine Sets so easily. Shi Feng was at a loss for words when he finished reading the Flame God Set’s statistics.

He had indeed obtained the Flame God Set. It was also every bit as heaven-defying as he expected. However, unless one was the Flame Dragon God’s Legatee, equipping the Flame God Set would cause it to be weakened to the Fragmented Divine Artifact standard. With such a penalty in place, the Flame God Set couldn’t even be considered a regular Divine Set, let alone one of the Six Great Divine Sets.

However, Shi Feng quickly recovered from his disappointment and replaced his God Chaser Set with the Flame God Set.

Although the Flame God Set couldn’t exhibit its true potential unless equipped by the Flame Dragon God’s Legatee, it still provided more Basic Attributes than the average Divine Artifact-ranked equipment. Not to mention, it came with two Tier 7 Profound Skills.

Upon equipping the Flame God Set, Shi Feng felt power coursing through his body. Even his Life Rating changed.

With my current Basic Attributes, I should match the various pseudo-apex powers’ Level 240 old monsters. Shi Feng couldn’t help marveling at his updated Attribute Panel.

In his previous life, he had to actively avoid the various pseudo-apex powers Level 240-plus old monsters. This was because those old monsters were fully equipped with Divine Artifacts and possessed ancient Legacies that granted them Basic Attributes rivaling those of Level 240 Ancient Gods.

Now, with the Basic Attributes provided by the incomplete Flame God Set and the Frostflame Sacred Dragon, he could already match the Basic Attributes of the various pseudo-apex powers’ Level 240-plus old monsters.

While Shi Feng marveled at the Flame God Set’s might, the treasury plaza suddenly became noisy as a legion of 1,000 Level 240 elite experts surrounded it. This sight surprised even the pseudo-apex powers that had come to check on the situation.

“Tarnished Wind must be really anxious to mobilize even the Crimson Dragon Legion!” South Lake exclaimed when he saw Red-Tailed Dragon’s strongest trump card legion deployed around the treasury plaza. Then, as he swept his gaze across the plaza, he suddenly noticed a familiar face. “Guild Leader Black Flame?”

…

TL Notes:

[1]the protection of an apex power: The apex power here is referring to Dragon’s Crown. Holy Dragon Spear and the other pseudo-apex powers of the Primordial Dragon Sanctuary are under the assumption that Dragon’s Crown is an apex power.
