Kingdombuilding: All My Inventions Are Novelty

Goldwynd Hotel

Since Princess Lisa had taken up residence at the hotel, the entire establishment had been staffed by maidservants. The male waiters and managers had temporarily withdrawn from their usual duties.

After all, Princess Lisa was a woman of noble status, and it would have been inappropriate for men to be present while Princess Elin prepared to reveal something as personal as women’s undergarments.

Inside the hotel, a group of noblewomen had gathered in anticipation.

”Princess Elin, what exactly are these secret items you intend to show us?” one of them asked curiously.

Princess Lisa had just finished washing. She looked refreshed and relaxed after sleeping until the sun had risen high above the treetops. The hotel’s comfortable beds had clearly made a favorable impression on her.

Like Princess Lisa, the other noblewomen had gathered downstairs, their attention fixed on Elin as they waited for her to unveil the mysterious products she had invited them to see.

Elin stood before them, feeling slightly nervous.

Although she had prepared herself for this moment, discussing women’s intimate clothing in front of so many noblewomen remained embarrassing.

Remembering Simon’s encouragement, she took a deep breath and composed herself.

”Aunt, what I’m about to introduce is called underwear. I’m sure everyone here is familiar with bellybands and undergarments.”

Her words immediately brought a faint blush to several faces.

Although every woman present wore some form of undergarment, discussing such matters openly was considered improper in polite society.

Who would normally gather a room full of noblewomen to discuss their private clothing?

Princess Lisa, however, remained completely composed.

”What is there to be embarrassed about?” she remarked boldly. ”These garments are essential to every woman.”

Her straightforward response reflected her personality, but there was another reason for her willingness to speak up.

She wanted to support Elin.

Elin had personally invited her by letter, and Princess Lisa suspected that Simon had played a role in arranging the gathering. Whatever their reasons, she was willing to help her nephew’s lady make the event a success.

It was a small gesture, but an important one.

Elin glanced at her aunt gratefully.

She had worried that the noblewomen might take offense at the subject, but Princess Lisa’s words had eased the tension considerably.

Taking advantage of the moment, Elin continued.

”Today, I want to introduce a new type of clothing designed specifically for women. It is comfortable, fits closely to the body, and can improve the appearance of our everyday clothing.”

With that, she turned toward the stage and gently clapped her hands.

A moment later, thirty singing girls stepped onto the stage.

Each wore a different style of underwear, displaying a variety of colors and designs.

The moment the noblewomen saw them, the entire room fell silent.

Even Princess Lisa stared in surprise.

The garments were unlike anything they had seen before.

”Heavens! What on earth are those?” one noblewoman exclaimed.

Another leaned toward her companion and whispered with a mischievous smile, ”Look at those shapes! They almost resemble little steamed buns!”

Her companion covered her mouth to suppress a laugh.

”This journey to Brambleford has certainly broadened my horizons,” another woman remarked. ”I never imagined Princess Elin would invite us to see something like this. She truly has unusual ideas.”

The room quickly filled with whispers and laughter.

Some noblewomen examined the unfamiliar garments with open curiosity, while others pretended to be scandalized even as they continued to look.

Princess Lisa, however, studied the girls onstage with growing interest.

After a moment, she turned to the others.

”Now that I think about it, don’t you agree that these garments look rather good on them?”

The noblewomen paused.

At first, they had been too shocked by the unusual designs to appreciate them. But after looking more carefully, they began to notice how the garments fit beneath the girls’ outer clothing and supported their figures.

One noblewoman nodded thoughtfully.

”Since Your Highness says so, perhaps they aren’t so strange after all. Looking at them more carefully, they do seem rather attractive.”

”Good heavens!” another woman exclaimed in mock disapproval. ”How can you say such vulgar things in front of the princess and the consort?”

Despite her rebuke, the woman continued examining the garments with considerable interest. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

Besides, the dresses worn by some of the noblewomen were far more revealing than the undergarments they were criticizing.

Their contradictory reactions provoked another round of laughter.

Soon, the initial embarrassment began to fade. The women pointed toward the stage, discussed the different designs, and debated which styles appeared most appealing.

Princess Lisa was accustomed to the lively behavior of noblewomen. Once the room had settled into a more comfortable atmosphere, she turned toward Elin.

”Now then, Princess Elin, tell us something. Why did you decide to create these close-fitting garments in the first place?”

Elin had anticipated the question.

With the room now occupied entirely by women, she felt more comfortable explaining the purpose behind her invention.

”Aunt, these garments are called bras. Their primary purpose is to support the breasts and reduce discomfort caused by movement.”

”Support them?” Princess Lisa repeated.

She looked at Elin suspiciously before narrowing her eyes.

”Girl, everyone knows you’re talented, but how can you be certain these things actually work? You aren’t simply making extravagant claims to sell more goods, are you?”

Elin shook her head.

”Of course not, Aunt. I didn’t create these garments merely for appearance. I’ve studied the subject carefully, and there are practical reasons for wearing them.”

To demonstrate, she invited one of the singing girls forward.

The girl stepped down from the stage while Elin explained how the garment was designed to fit.

Rather than relying on claims alone, Elin demonstrated how its supportive structure held the garment in place and allowed it to remain comfortable beneath ordinary clothing.

Princess Lisa watched closely.

When the girl returned to the stage wearing the bra beneath her outer clothing, the difference in the way her dress sat became apparent.

Princess Lisa raised her eyebrows.

”I must admit, I didn’t expect such a simple garment to make such a significant difference.”

Elin smiled.

”That is only part of its purpose, Aunt.”

She then began explaining what she had learned from the books Simon had provided.

”As girls grow older, their bodies undergo various changes. For many, these changes begin around thirteen or fourteen years of age. During this period, appropriate support can help them feel more comfortable as they go about their daily activities.”

Elin spoke confidently, explaining the subject in straightforward language.

The noblewomen gradually stopped joking and began listening attentively.

She discussed comfort, fit, and the importance of choosing garments suitable for different stages of development. She also explained how proper support could make physical activities more comfortable.

Her explanations were simple but convincing.

The women who had initially suspected that Elin was merely trying to make money began reconsidering their assumptions.

Perhaps the princess genuinely wanted to improve the lives of women throughout the Eldorian Empire.

Elin continued, growing more confident as she observed their reactions.

”Consider horseback riding, for example. Many women enjoy riding, yet repeated movement can be uncomfortable when their clothing provides insufficient support. The same applies to running, jumping, and other physical activities.”

Several noblewomen nodded in agreement.

They were familiar with those inconveniences, even if they had never discussed them openly.

”There is another matter,” Elin added. ”During menstruation, women need suitable protection to prevent blood from staining their clothes. Properly designed undergarments can help keep absorbent fabric securely in place, making those days easier to manage.”

This time, the reaction was immediate.

Several women exchanged surprised glances.

Menstruation was an ordinary part of their lives, yet it was rarely discussed openly, even among women of high status.

The possibility of having clothing specifically designed to make those days more comfortable was appealing.

One noblewoman leaned forward eagerly.

”Princess Elin, may I try one of these garments?”

”Of course!” Elin replied with a smile. ”That is precisely why I invited everyone here. I want you to experience for yourselves how they feel.”

She selected a new set of underwear and asked the attendants to help the noblewoman find a suitable size.

The woman followed them behind a changing screen while the other noblewomen waited impatiently.

When she returned, she was wearing her usual outer dress over the new undergarments.

At first, nobody noticed anything unusual.

Then one of the women studied her more closely.

”Wait a moment! Your dress looks different. Your figure seems more defined than before!”

Another noblewoman immediately turned around.

”You’re right! How did that happen?”

The woman who had tried on the garments looked down at herself in surprise.

She had always considered her figure rather ordinary and had never expected a simple change in her undergarments to affect the way her dress fit.

Now, however, the difference was noticeable.

The bra provided support and helped her outer clothing sit more neatly.

She touched the fabric of her dress, her expression gradually changing from surprise to delight.

”This is remarkable! I never imagined that something worn beneath ordinary clothing could make such a difference.”

Elin smiled but said nothing.

She had expected this reaction.

After all, the garments were not merely decorative. Their practical benefits would become far more convincing once the women experienced them firsthand.

”I want to try one too!”

”I’ll have one as well!”

”Princess Elin, do you have different sizes?”

The noblewomen who had been laughing only moments earlier now crowded around Elin with questions.

Some wanted to test the garments’ comfort. Others were interested in the different designs, while a few had already begun discussing which styles would suit their existing dresses.

Even Princess Lisa, who had initially questioned Elin’s claims, appeared increasingly interested.

She watched the excited noblewomen for a moment before turning back toward her.

”Elin, it seems you’ve brought something quite extraordinary to Brambleford.”

Elin smiled modestly.

”This is only the beginning, Aunt.”

She glanced at the rows of garments displayed beside the stage.

The noblewomen had arrived expecting an embarrassing demonstration of unfamiliar clothing.

Instead, they had discovered something that could make their everyday lives more comfortable.

And judging by their enthusiasm, Elin suspected that once word spread through the noble circles of the Eldorian Empire, demand for these new garments would be far greater than anyone had anticipated.

The atmosphere inside the hotel had become lively and boisterous.

The noblewomen had completely abandoned their earlier reservations. One after another, they rushed toward the stage, eager to try on the various bras and panties displayed there.

Seeing their enthusiasm, Elin instructed a maidservant to bring a large mirror onto the stage.

The moment the mirror was set up, the noblewomen crowded around it.

Now they could see exactly how the new garments looked beneath their clothes.

Some admired themselves from different angles, turning this way and that to examine how the undergarments supported their figures and improved the fit of their dresses.
