I Was Written as Cannon Fodder, Now I'm Rewriting the Genre

Chapter 37: Chapter 35: Dark Destiny

The air raid sirens were still wailing, and drones and helicopters whirred past overhead. A cacophony of noises drifted in from outside, even punctuated by gunshots, but Yin Zhen no longer had the mind to pay attention. Grasping the armrests of her wheelchair, she gritted her teeth and tried to lift her foot. It left the footrest, only to drop back down weakly. However, this was the first time she had used her own strength to lift her feet off that damned spot. Yin Zhen leaned forward and supported herself on the armrests. Her knees were trembling, her thighs were trembling, and her entire body was shaking. She pushed down hard with her hands and managed to stand up!

Her legs felt like two rusted iron pipes—stiff and unbending—but she was truly standing on the ground. She tried to take a step forward, lifting her left foot and inching it forward a tiny bit before planting it down and bringing her right foot up to follow. Her posture was awkward, swaying unsteadily like a toddler just learning to walk and threatening to fall at any moment. Yet, every step was a step forward. She had used her enemy’s blood to rejuvenate her legs!

After walking a full circle, Yin Zhen sat back down. Her heart was pounding violently. Although her legs were still weak and somewhat stiff, she knew she could definitely recover as long as she practiced properly. Recalling the agility attribute on her Identity Card, she couldn’t wait to check it.

[Player]: Yin Zhen

[Race]: Human

[Identity]: Minor Supporting Character (10,533/100,000)

[Life Value]: 100%

[Strength]: 5 (Still a weakling with a combat power of five)

[Constitution]: 5+5 (A weakling with an exceptionally fit body)

[Wisdom]: 23 (A weakling with a mutated brain)

[Agility]: 1 (The cripple has stood up!)

[Luck]: 2 (Even winning a scratch-off ticket is difficult)

An Agility value had appeared. Although it was only 1 point, this was enough to prove that her legs had recovered and regained basic mobility! The 50% Life Force she had previously consumed was also restored, and her Constitution had increased by 5 points. This must have been due to her absorbing a massive amount of Sheng Yehan’s blood. What was more, it only took her two seconds to kill him.

The Protagonist Halo Experience Card, radiating multicolored light, still had 1 second remaining and hovered in her consciousness space. Earlier that day, she had mentally simulated the entire revenge process countless times, calculating everything to the extreme and exhausting herself just to save this final second. She had a strong intuition that the existence of this Experience Card would bring her many hidden benefits. For example, in the Red Corpse World, she had obtained the same golden cheat as the protagonist: Blood Source Resonance. Its light wasn’t Golden, making it very likely a High Level existence above the protagonist’s golden card.

She had to take her revenge, but after avenging herself, she also needed to live on, healthy and strong. That was why she had kept this card.

”What is this?” Yin Zhen suddenly noticed that a black card and two new items had appeared in her consciousness space.

The card was as dark as ink, with dark gold patterns flowing along its edges like lightning flashing in the night sky, or like dark fire burning in an abyss. There were no words on it, only the blurry silhouette of a figure. The figure’s head was bowed, and beneath its feet was an infinite expanse of shattered light. Yin Zhen’s consciousness reached out and touched the card.

[Inheritable Identity Card: Dark Destiny]

[Card Level: Black Gold]

Yin Zhen’s breath hitched for a moment. Was this Sheng Yehan’s Identity Card?

What Yin Zhen didn’t know at this time was that Sheng Yehan, having never realized he was the final villain of a CEO romance novel, had always believed himself to be the protagonist of the story. Up until his death, he had never even seen the detailed Explanation for this card. Now, as the victor who had successfully killed Sheng Yehan, everything about the card was clearly displayed before Yin Zhen, tempting her.

[Dark Destiny]: Light is the blessing of all things, and shadow is the orphan of the light. I am an existence created by that very light, yet I can never embrace it.

By inheriting this card, you will become the ”destined villain,” automatically standing on the opposing side in every protagonist’s plotline and obtaining the Villain Aura.

[Villain Aura Effect]:

1. Destiny’s Nemesis

When you confront a protagonist, you will always hold the upper hand in the first half of the battle. The stronger the protagonist is, the stronger you become. This is the power of fate; villains are inherently the protagonist’s Star Killer. The scales of destiny have never been fair—beware of the protagonist’s halo!

2. archenemy

Villains can only be finished off by their destined archenemy. The probability of dying at the hands of others (such as being besieged by lackeys, dying in an accident, or even a nuclear explosion) approaches zero, but is not exactly zero. A team recognized by the protagonist, or a scheme orchestrated by the protagonist’s own hands, still has a chance to kill you.

3. I’m Not Finished Speaking

Before you take your last breath, fate will grant you three extra seconds, giving you one chance to say, ”I’m not finished speaking.” This sentence will become a plot breakpoint that forcibly extends your life, allowing you a counterattack. Villains die from talking too much; if you haven’t finished speaking, you can’t die. If the protagonist interrupts you before you can speak—for example, by directly blowing your head off—the counterattack becomes invalid.

4. I Really Dislike Your Eyes

You will be able to sense the most inconspicuous ant in a crowd, knowing they are the future protagonist who will be the only one capable of digging your grave. Looking into their eyes will feel like looking at your own tombstone, causing you to unconsciously target them. However, when their strength is clearly weaker than yours, you cannot kill them with your own hands.

5. Blind Spot

All of your subordinates will suffer from intermittent blindness when faced with the top-secret plans of the protagonist and their party. You can monitor the entire world, but you will uniquely miss the protagonist. This is not an issue of your ability; this is dictated by the plot.

6. Plot Creator

You will break free from all ”supporting character restrictions.” You will not suffer from artificial intelligence downgrades, you will not be treated as a mere tool, and you will not make foolish decisions just because the plot demands it. Every step you take will serve as an obstacle to the protagonist’s growth, acting as the necessary build-up before the climax of the story. However, the plotlines you create can still be ”corrected” by the protagonist’s halo.

7. Sin of Greed

You will become greedier and find it easier to encounter ”fortuitous encounters.” The opportunities and treasures that should have belonged to the protagonist will appear before you more easily, because you are the biggest ”plot magnet” in this world, a walking treasure trove. However, every time you take away something that was supposed to belong to the protagonist, fate will accelerate their maturation. The protagonist’s growth speed is directly proportional to the depth of your plundering.

[Inheritance Rules]

Sacrifice one protagonist (from any world), and this card can be activated as a ”second Identity,” coexisting with your original Identity Card.

[Special Explanation]

The more protagonists you kill, the stronger the positive buffs of your Villain Aura. You can grow from being the villain of a single arc, to the villain of a whole story, and even to the villain of all stories.

The protagonists that can be killed by you are only ”transitional protagonists” and not the true ”children of destiny.” Your formidable strength will force fate to gamble frantically, creating even more powerful protagonists to slay you. Your ending can only be death! The existence of a villain is to give the protagonist an opponent to fight during their growth. The strength of a villain is to give weight to the protagonist’s victory. The death of a villain is the firework that pushes the entire story to its climax—dazzling, tragic, and destined to burn out entirely. And you are the chosen firework in this generation of stories.

”A firework? A firework can also burn down the entire night sky before turning to ash!” Yin Zhen stared at the Black Gold card, then looked at the Protagonist Halo Experience Card that still had 1 second remaining. One was light. One was darkness. The light only lasted for one second. But the darkness could last forever!
