Evil Emperor’s Wild Consort

Chapter 14: Refining Pills (5)

“What if I said I could cure your throat?”

Gu Ruoyun smiled, clear eyes brimming with the light of confidence.

Upon hearing this, Elder Yu laughed out loud: “I couldn’t even treat this injury myself. Miss having such strength at such a young age, you’re really worthy of this old man’s admiration, huh!”

Even idiots would be able to hear the mockery in Elder Yu’s words.

He was originally thinking of letting her win in the competition, but who knew that this girl would be this arrogant, if he did not teach her a lesson, then it would be detrimental to her future growth.

Gu Ruoyun did not seem to take exception to his words, smiling slightly as she said: “If you don’t believe me, I can treat you now. All I need is one type of medicine, and you’ll be restored in an hour. Of course, if I manage to treat a wound that you were unable to, then that clearly proves that you’ve lost, and Hundred Herb Hall will belong to me.”

“Very well!” Elder Yu laughed derisively, “Since you want to gamble, I’ll accompany you, and you can take whatever herbs you need from Hundred Herb Hall. I don’t believe that there’s a medicine that can work within a day, this is clearly violating common sense.”

Gu Ruoyun smiled wordlessly, handing over a paper with dozens of herb names written on top to Shopkeeper Zhao, she said: “Take these herbs and boil them for Elder Yu to drink, within half an hour, I guarantee that he will be completely cured.”

In her previous life, although Gu Ruoyun did not know how to refine pills, but she had learned medicine from a famous doctor, and that famous doctor was well-known all throughout East Peak Mainland, far more than in West Spirit Mainland.

Whereas she was his favourite disciple, who naturally received all his teachings.

Shopkeeper Zhao took the prescription, glanced at Elder Yu, and only went to fill the prescription after getting a nod.

“Miss,” Elder Yu furrowed his brows, looking to be in deep thought for a long moment, before he eventually said: “Although I don’t quite like your arrogant nature, but there’s one thing that I feel I have to remind you of.”

“What is it?”

“Be careful of the Gu family!”

At this moment, upon the first time seeing seriousness on Elder Yu’s face, an uncomfortable feeling was created in Gu Ruoyun’s heart.

“Why would you remind me to be careful of the Gu family?”

“The Gu family, is not as simple as you may think,” Elder Yu raised his head to look at Gu Ruoyun, “If you were indeed like the rumours, maybe I wouldn’t have bothered to mention this to you, but as I see now, you’re definitely not a cowardly and useless good-for-nothing! Although you are a little arrogant, but you’re also astute! The death of your father, Gu Tian, may have had something to do with the Gu family…”

Gu Ruoyun’s heart trembled, her hands slowly forming into fists, and was able to relax only after taking a deep breath.

“Elder Yu, you knew my father?”

“No,” Elder Yu shook his head, “I was not acquainted with your father, I only admired him, a real man who was willing to protect his woman at any cost! Unfortunately, the heavens are jealous of outstanding talent, and geniuses will always invite jealousy. Girl, this is all I can tell you, it’s up to you if you want to believe it or not.”

Actually, Elder Yu really wanted to tell Gu Ruoyun her real identity, but he knew that he could not do so.

The Dongfang family held great power, talents were as numerous as hairs on a cow, it was not someplace just anyone could enter. That time when Gu Tian was recognised by the Dongfang family, was on the basis of his remarkable talent.

Unless Gu Ruoyun had talent on par with her father’s, the Dongfang family would never accept her…

“Elder Yu, no matter what relationship you have with my father, I want to say, thank you for your warning, but for certain matters, I have my own plans.”

The Gu family was a snobbish family, and that was why they valued the abilities of its members so highly, if it were really as Elder Yu said, then why did the Gu family do so? If Elder Yu was trying to deceive her, then what was his motive?
