Getting spoiled in a woman dominating world

Brandon had barely settled into bed when a sudden knock on his door echoed through the room.

’Who is it now?’

Letting out a quiet sigh, he pushed the blanket off his body and sat up, rubbing his temple as he swung his legs over the side of the bed.

He walked to the door and with a light pull, the wooden door creaked open, revealing a familiar face standing just outside.

Hm?

Looking at Charlotte, he mumbled ”Big Sister?”

Charlotte gave a small nod, as she extended her hand toward him.

In her palm there is a sleek, black device... an encrypted phone.

”Here. Through this, you can make encrypted calls. Big Sister is in line.”

Brandon’s eyes flickered to the device in her hand before shifting back to her face.

A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips as he reached out and took the phone from her hand.

”Thank you.”

Charlotte tilted her head slightly, ”You don’t have to thank me. Just make your call.”

He stepped back into the room, holding the door open for Charlotte ”Come in for a bit?”

She raised an eyebrow but stepped inside without hesitation and the door clicked shut behind her.

Brandon walked over to the small seating area near the window, where a cushioned chair and a small table was placed.

He pulled the chair out and sat down before turning the phone on.

The interface was simple, no unnecessary apps, just a direct call function with secured encryption.

Charlotte leaned against the wall, ”I already linked the call to Big Sister. She’s waiting.”

Brandon gave her a nod before dialing.

The phone rang once.

Twice.

Then, the line connected with a soft click.

A familiar voice, greeted him ”Kael...”

Brandon exhaled slowly. ”Aunt Elize.”

From the other side, Elize replied ”From Charlotte, I heard...”

Nodding his head, Brandon began to tell her what happened.

Elize and Ravene who were sitting on the couch looked at each other in surprise after hearing what happened.

With a slight frown, Elize spoke ”Accept it, Kael. I know there are some risks... but for the time period, accept it and play along.”

Ravene had a contemplative face as she spoke ”Yeah, if you have the highest authority there... they can’t control you.”

”The Church is old, but it isn’t reckless. They know you’re close to Charlotte, and they won’t take unnecessary risks by forcing your hand. Not yet, anyway.”

Hearing this, Brandon closed his eyes for a second ”Mhmm... Thank you, Aunt Elize and Rave.”

Charlotte, who had been silently standing beside him the entire time, sighed ”Took you long enough to come to the same conclusion.”

Elize replied on the phone ”Kael, remember... don’t let them set rules around you. You have the position; use it well.”

”Stay sharp. If anything feels off, tell us immediately. We’ll handle the rest.”

Brandon felt a small warmth in his chest at their concern.

Even though they weren’t here with him physically, just knowing that they had his back made the situation feel a little less overwhelming.

”Got it.”

The call ended with a few more exchanges, and as the screen went dark, he set the phone down on the table with a deep sigh.

Next day-

Brandon adjusted his t-shirt one last time in front of the mirror, running a hand through his slightly tousled hair.

The conversation from last night still lingered in his mind, but he had already made his decision... he would play along, but only on his terms.

Just as he was about to step away, a faint knock echoed through his room.

His gaze flickered toward the door.

Hm? He went to the door and opened it to look at Matilda.

She was standing there with a pristine white robe with golden embroidery in her hands.

”What is it?”

With a smile, Matilda extended her hand ”As the Herald, you would need to wear this to symbolize your divine status.”

Brandon’s gaze dropped to the robes for a moment. Heavy fabric, long flowing sleeves, unnecessary embroidery.

His gaze narrowed sliptly ”Nope, not wearing that.”

The confident rejection caused Matilda’s eyes to widen in surprise.

”Huh?”

For a moment, she simply blinked, as if she didn’t hear him correctly.

When she finally processed his words, her confusion deepened, and her hands, still holding the robes trembled slightly.

”But... it is the rule, Lord Herald.”

Her voice wavered, ”You must wear this attire... at least during ceremonial events and inside the Holy Chamber of the Church.”

Brandon smiled in his heart ”I’m the Herald, right? Which means I have the highest authority in the Church.”

Matilda hesitated but slowly nodded. ”Yes... that is true, but—”

Brandon leaned against the doorframe, tilting his head slightly. ”So who exactly set these ’rules’ that the Herald is supposed to follow?”

His calm but direct questioning made Matilda falter for a moment.

She clearly wasn’t expecting him to push back like this.

”I-It’s... tradition.”

She stammered, gripping the robes a little tighter ”These robes have been prepared since ancient times for the moment a Herald would appear. You cannot wear such... modern attire in ceremonial gatherings or within the Holy Chamber.”

Brandon exhaled gently ”And who decided that? The Goddess herself?”

Matilda quickly shook her head, flustered by the question ”No... these rules were established by the first Supreme Pontiff in preparation for the Herald’s arrival.”

Brandon let out a visible sigh. ”So, some old dead woman centuries ago decided that if a Herald ever appeared, they would have to dress like a religious ornament?”

Matilda took a deep breath, trying to maintain her composure. ”Lord Herald, this is not merely about preference. It is about reverence and dignity.”

”You will be standing before the Supreme Pontiff, the Triarchs, and the Empyreans of the Divine Order. Your appearance should reflect your divine status.”

Brandon nodded his head ”And what exactly is my ’divine status,’ Matilda?”

She swallowed. ”You are the Herald of Divinity, the one chosen by the Goddess Rhéanne herself.”

”The golden pillar during your baptism was proof of your unparalleled connection to her. You now hold the highest authority within the Church—”

”Exactly.” Brandon interrupted smoothly. ”I hold the highest authority.”

Matilda blinked.

”Which means I get to decide what I wear.”

A heavy silence settled between them.

Matilda opened her mouth, then closed it again.

Her grip on the robes tightened and Brandon didn’t break eye contact.

”Matilda. Let me be clear about something... if I say something is a rule, then it is. If I say something isn’t a rule, then it isn’t.”

”You just admitted that I outrank everyone in the Church. So tell me, what exactly is stopping me from declaring that the Herald wears whatever the hell he wants?”

Matilda’s face tensed, and for the first time since he had met her, she seemed truly lost for words.

She took a slow breath, pressing her lips together before lowering her gaze slightly.

”I... understand, Lord Herald.”

Brandon could tell she was still struggling to accept this, but she wasn’t going to fight him on it any further.

He pushed himself off the doorframe and gave her a faint smile. ”Good. I’ll be there at the meeting, but I’ll be wearing this.”

He gestured at his modern, clean attire—a simple, well-fitted black T-shirt, a sleek dark jacket, and comfortable yet stylish pants.

Matilda hesitated one last time before giving a deep bow ”Very well, Lord Herald. I shall make the necessary arrangements.”

Brandon nodded. ”Appreciate it.”

With that, Matilda straightened up, turned on her heel, and walked away, still carrying the ceremonial robes in her hands.

Brandon watched her go before letting out a small sigh and rubbing the back of his neck.

’Seriously... being a Herald is already a headache, and I haven’t even started the real work yet.’

He has already decided to take on this position... but he won’t let them rule him.
