Bombarding Cultivators with Cluster Artillery

Time flows endlessly.

Time passes like flowing water, a hundred years have passed;

Another hundred years have passed;

Yet another hundred years have passed;

...

With time, everything in the world and the universe changes, humans experience birth, aging, sickness, and death, cultivators advance, Golden Pill Monks achieve and then die, Nascent Soul Monks reincarnate over several generations.

Before one realizes, it has already been eight hundred years.

Over these eight hundred years, the Xianmen Sect has not changed much; generation after generation of Xianmen cultivators are born, grow up, receive education, and then step into the Horned Ming Realm through the Domain passageway, supplementing and rotating the Immortal Sect Expeditionary Army stationed there.

Many Xianmen cultivators die in foreign lands, leaving only their Clothes Tombs to return to Xianmen, leaving their relatives with a memory to cherish.

Among the rotating cultivators, most are Foundation-building and Golden Pill Monks; they reach the end of their lifespan, return to their hometowns to see everything one last time, and bring back the ashes of their comrades who died in battle.

As they exit the teleportation formation, over two hundred thousand Immortal Sect support fleets also arrive here, landing in the Super Transmission Array; they are fully staffed and high-spirited, youthful and brimming with the desire to achieve exploits.

”Youth is wonderful...”

A Golden Pill elder who has lost his left arm, half of his body somewhat stiff and uncoordinated, steps out of the teleportation formation with his comrades. His hair is grey, and though there is no sign of war-weariness in his eyes, he sighs softly, ”I first stepped onto the battlefield at the age of one hundred and one, just a Foundation-building cultivator. Time flies, and now I am an old man over five hundred years old.”

”Insufficient talent, battle merits, and potential, I lost hope of advancing to Nascent Soul.”

”Otherwise, it would have been good to die in a foreign land.”

He said, not without regret.

This is a citizens’ war.

Every citizen gains benefits from the war, fighting for themselves, with a good atmosphere of mutual care, and rewards and punishments strictly according to the laws of Xianmen.

This makes the Immortal Sect Citizens enduring, daring, and courageous in battle, even after hundreds of years of combat, almost an entire lifetime, and countless comrades dying around them, there has been no emergence of a sentiment against or weariness of war.

In comparison, the Immortal Sect Daoist Soldiers seem to fall short. In these years, there have been frequent military mutinies and rebellion attempts to join the Horned Demon Imperial Clan; one battalion has already succeeded and is being heavily propagated by the Horned Demon Imperial Clan, affecting some of the morale.

These military mutinies by the Immortal Sect Daoist Soldiers seem, therefore, somewhat understandable.

A war that has continued for eight hundred years!

Many Daoist Soldiers from the Immortal Sects have fought from their Foundation Establishment period until their death, endless bloody battles, never seeing an end, with military laws incredibly cruel, often resorting to soul extraction and refining, thousands of cuts and carvings, many Daoist Soldiers’ Divine Souls have collapsed in such a prolonged war, losing their sanity.

To address such situations, the Eight Great Immortal Sects are considering applying Divine Soul Magic to Daoist Soldiers, making their Divine Souls more dull and more resolutely obedient to orders, the cost being slower reactions and sensitivity to Army Formations, thus weakening the overall strength of Daoist Soldiers, hence they are still hesitant.

”Captain Lin,”

An old Foundation-building soldier beside him curiously asked, ”I heard you are a descendant of the Grand Sun Immortal?”

Grand Sun Immortal!

The ears of the surrounding retired Immortal Sect soldiers perked up immediately.

Grand Sun Immortal seems to have been a figure from over two thousand years ago, very distant to them, at least to these Foundation Establishment Golden Core cultivators, like a historical figure from several eras past, not normally paid much attention.

After all, there are many heroes in history books, each one earth-shattering, an existence to be admired by later generations.

Many illustrious deeds, splendid and attention-grabbing in their time, but being able to occupy even a single page in the history books is already quite an achievement.

After eight hundred years, the immense prestige of Grand Sun Immortal among the citizens of the Immortal Sect has long since vanished, as those who knew him have perished several generations ago, along with their thoughts.

The Grand Sun Immortal also became like all ancient figures in history, buried in the sands of time, known only by a handful of high-level cultivators who keep his memory alive.

However, today, things are different, as the Grand Sun Immortal is once again frequently mentioned by many citizens of the Immortal Sect.

All of this is due to the life-and-death struggles in the Yama Hell Equal King Inverted Yin Yang Array of the Nine Great Immortal Sects, where the Nine Great Daoists and the Immortal Sect Bone Forest True Monarch, despite being restrained and suppressed, have been battling the numerous emperors of the Horned Demon Imperial Clan for nearly a hundred years without being able to defeat them.

Not only failing to defeat them, but they even suffered a great defeat recently!

This has caused many of the older generation of powerful figures from the Immortal Sect and the Eight Great Immortal Sects to be incredibly angry and even somewhat panic-stricken, often bringing up the taboo name of the Sun Extinguisher Swordsman, thus the name has been passed down and become known among the military officers.

Among these elders, a sentence is oft-repeated.

”If only the Sun Extinguisher Swordsman appears, everything will be alright.”

”Before the Sun Extinguisher Swordsman, all these are but clay chickens and pottery dogs.”

”When will he come?”

”…”

And the like.

It seems that in the words of the Starry Sky generals of the army, as long as the Grand Sun Immortal appears, the situation will immediately see significant changes, without any surprises.

The long, tedious, and brutal war fast spreads news concerning the battle situation, thus many middle and lower-tier soldiers of the Immortal Sect Army also began to know the name of the Grand Sun Immortal and placed a lot of hope on him.

”Nonsense!”

”What about the descendant of the Grand Sun Immortal?”

Captain Lin said with a bitter smile, ”You don’t know, right? The common name of the Grand Sun Immortal is with the Jiang surname, and my surname is Lin. Moreover, the Grand Sun Immortal was never married, how could I possibly be his descendant?”

In the history of the Immortal Sect, figures are generally addressed by their Taoist names, as calling them by their personal names is considered disrespectful and impolite.

”Oh!”

A group of retired veterans suddenly realized.

”Then Captain Lin, why did Sun Extinguisher Heavenly Monarch say that while drinking…”

Someone asked.

They had encountered Sun Extinguisher Heavenly Monarch once on the battlefield.

Sun Extinguisher Heavenly Monarch is usually quite fun, his favorite activity being to binge drink with many comrades in the army camp, dancing and singing, regardless of rank, and even if repeatedly confined for breaching military discipline, he never changed his ways, and was very popular among the soldiers of the Immortal Sect.

Once during their service, while drinking and chatting, he had mentioned, ”Back in the day, I could beat your ancestors with just one finger, and they wouldn’t dare resist, obediently calling me ’big brother’ and all that.”

”Hey!”

Captain Lin waved his hand.

”I belong to the maternal clan of the Grand Sun Immortal, you see, my great-great-great-grandfather was Lin Yuanwang True Monarch, so there’s a faint connection to Grand Sun Immortal.

In the Immortal Sect, there are probably tens of thousands of people like me, who have intermarried over so many years. Everyone can trace back to some great figure in their ancestry.”

”To say I’m a descendant of the Grand Sun Immortal is a bit exaggerated.”

A group of retired comrades accompanied each other, heading towards the long-unseen Immortal Sect, looking around along the way, seemingly never getting enough of it.
