Bombarding Cultivators with Cluster Artillery

A monk with a handsome shaven head, his body bathed in earthy yellow Buddha light, stood in front of Wei Xian and several dozen warriors from Jindao School.

”Monk Fa Zheng!”

Wei Xian said with displeasure, ”These are my spoils of war, if you want to kill, go find the people from the Demon Sect yourself.”

”Or has Prajna Temple joined the Demon Sect, and you have become someone else’s protector ’Vajra’?”

All present had serious expressions on their faces, not daring to be careless in the slightest.

”Amitabha!”

The ’Vajra’ Monk Fa Zheng, with compassion in his eyes, smiled and said, ”Benefactor, please send these Asuras back into reincarnation, for this is the karmic retribution they deserve.”

Yet he blocked their way back, his eyes slightly closed, saying nothing.

Wei Xian’s face grew gloomy.

”Take my three strikes, and everything will be yours.”

He snorted coldly, and the giant dragon-patterned saber, which no one knew when it had appeared in his hand, vibrated with a dragon’s roar, as if venting its owner’s rage.

Monk Fa Zheng continued to smile gently.

”The first strike!”

Wei Xian roared, holding the saber with both hands, the dragon’s roar filling the wild, causing the ears of those around him to ring. A golden saber energy river suddenly formed, slashing downwards.

Golden Stream Triple Slash!

In his hands, its power was more than ten times greater than Zheng Tu’s, the saber energy river almost solidifying!

Monk Fa Zheng’s eyes showed compassion, with no intention to dodge.

”Die!”

The giant blade struck with supreme force, aiming directly at his shaven head, unerringly.

Thud!

The sound of a morning bell and evening drum resounded, as a faint Golden Bell phantom flickered and vanished. The shiny shaven head was unharmed.

”Another enviable individual of excellent talent, one in a billion, a paragon of genius.”

Jiang Ding displayed a grave expression.

Without a doubt, this man’s aptitude and understanding were comparable to Li Qingyun of the Dragon and Phoenix List, equally grasping the intricate essence of ’momentum’ and using the Heavenly Earth Spiritual Qi to spontaneously amplify his power through the flickering of the Golden Bell phantom.

”The Vajra Unbreakable Divine Skill!”

Wei Xian’s eyes showed hatred, as his Inner Energy churned violently like invisible undercurrents in the deep sea, blowing dust all around.

”The second strike!”

”The third strike!”

He howled to the heavens, with the illusory image of swirling deep-sea vortexes appearing faintly, waves reaching the skies, accompanying the fall of the dragon-patterned giant blade, the waves reverting and striking again.

Thud! Thud!

Two bell tones merging into one echoed through the streets in a few hundred meters radius, the ’Sea Splitting Saber’ Wei Xian and his dragon-patterned blade were repelled more than ten steps back, fresh blood seeping from the corners of his mouth.

”Go!”

Wei Xian no longer spoke and quickly left with his people.

”No!”

”Take us with you!”

The hundred or so disciples from the Wolf God Cult and the Southern the Eighteenth Demon Sect who had been caught one after another thought they might at least survive. Seeing them retreat, their pleas were incessant, but bound as they were, no one paid attention.

”Master, I am willing to lay down the butcher’s knife and become a Buddha on the spot!”

”Great Compassionate and Merciful Guanyin Bodhisattva!”

Seeing the kind-looking handsome Monk approach, someone’s eyes rolled as they started chanting the Buddha’s name with a devout face, ”I wish to convert, wish to convert...”

Bam!

A heavy Zen stick smashed his skull, splattering brain matter and blood.

”Benefactor!”

Monk Fa Zheng smiled and said, ”This monk is about to send you all to reincarnation, where you will meet the bodhisattva Guanyin. Remember to pay homage earnestly, and you may be reincarnated as humans again in the future.”

Then, amid the begging, cursing, sobbing, and laughter of the Wolf God Cult villains, he smashed their skulls one by one, with the meticulousness of a child pounding bok choy, not sparing a single one.

He even checked several times, making sure not a single one had been overlooked, before nodding in satisfaction.

The strong stench of blood spread, nearly causing one to vomit.

”Amitabha!”

Monk Fa Zheng chanted the Buddha’s name, finding himself at a loss before the streetful of headless corpses.

He was not one of those chivalrous heroes who kill without burying; these many corpses left unattended could cause an epidemic, which would be troubling.

”I can help you with half, but in return, I need to ask you some questions,” the youth in blue said.

Monk Fa Zheng turned abruptly and saw the youth, who had reverted to his original appearance, standing silently in the shadow under the eaves, his gaze inquisitive.

’When did he arrive?’

Monk Fa Zheng’s mind whirled, trying hard to recall, and then realized that the youth in blue clothes had walked over openly not long ago, but he had subconsciously ignored him while he was engaged with Wei Xian.

”I have seen ’Dream Eating Sword Demon,’ Benefactor Jiang Ding.”

Monk Fa Zheng felt a chill in his heart, but his face showed compassion as he smiled and said, ”If you can help this monk collect the remains of these benefactors and let them rest in peace, that would be most excellent. As long as it doesn’t involve my sect, I shall answer any question you ask.”

What an odd nickname.

Jiang Ding was speechless.

”No problem.”

He walked to several corpses, tapped the ground with the tip of his foot, and a great amount of sharp Inner Energy surged into the ground, turning it into shifting quicksand that slowly swallowed the bodies.

Wherever he went, the ground seemed to come alive, consuming the corpses and then the street’s cobblestones would be laid down smoothly, looking exactly as they did originally.

Monk Fa Zheng’s expression became stern.

This level of control over Inner Energy was unheard of.

He tried it himself, and a large amount of yellow Inner Energy poured into the ground, churning the dirt endlessly but achieving nothing except raising a big cloud of dust.

”Benefactor is truly a divine being.”

Monk Fa Zheng sighed and stopped trying. He simply lifted the cobblestones of the street, used his Zen stick and Inner Energy as a shovel to dig a huge pit, and then kept transporting the headless bodies to throw them in.

Jiang Ding, having finished his half, asked, ”Tomorrow, ’Green God Sword’ Song Qing of Qingniugong, ranked ninth on the Dragon and Phoenix List, has challenged ’Broken Bone’ Shen Tukuang of the Wolf God Cult. Do you think the outcome of their battle will put an end to this great war between the righteous and the Demon Sects in the martial arts world?”

”Benefactor is truly not from a major sect.”

Monk Fa Zheng expressed surprise, throwing two headless bodies into the pit and going back for more. ”The loser will likely concede for the time being. After so many days of life-and-death combat, both sides have suffered significant loss. To prevent other Martial Arts Schools from profiting, they will probably use this as an excuse to temporarily cease hostilities for a while.”

”Temporarily?”

”Yes, the elders of my temple said that both Qingniugong and the Wolf God Cult want to completely eliminate each other, to support an emperor from their own sect and further their sect’s influence.”

”Unless they achieve this goal, or a Xiantian master suffers serious losses, they will not rest.”

”I see.”

Jiang Ding pondered, ”Then what is Prajna Temple’s purpose? Waiting for an opportunity, just like them, to establish a Buddhist kingdom on earth?”

”I cannot tell you.”

Monk Fa Zheng refused to answer, ”In this monk’s opinion, it’s best for martial arts sects not to get too involved with the imperial court. Even if they flourish for a while, they will quickly decline. Only by not contending and allowing others to take the lead can they endure.”

”You don’t seem like someone who would let others take the lead.”

Jiang Ding couldn’t help but laugh quietly, reminded of the resolute way Fa Zheng had stopped Wei Xian and decided to smash the Demon Cult villains’ skulls one by one.

Monk Fa Zheng was suddenly startled.

Before this youth, who was wholly capable of holding a conversation as an equal, he inadvertently revealed a bit of youthful naïveté, which he swiftly concealed.

”No more questions. I shall take my leave.”

Jiang Ding saw that the monk had buried all the corpses and was covering them with soil and replacing the cobblestones. He got up and left.
