Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 85: Chapter 85 You’re hired

I believe perfume is not just about smell. It is about memory. It is about emotion. It is about capturing a moment in time and preserving it in a bottle. A good perfume can make you feel like you are walking through a garden in spring. It can remind you of someone you love. It can take you back to a place you thought you had forgotten.

I have studied the art of perfumery for years. I know the science behind it—the molecules, the compounds, the way different scents interact with each other and with the skin. But I also know the art. I know how to blend scents to tell a story. I know how to create something that feels alive.

I can do this job. Not because I have a degree, but because I understand what perfume truly is. It is not just a product. It is a piece of the soul.

Alessio stared at the page, his heart pounding. Her answer impressed him instantly.

He looked at Daisy.

She was watching him, her dark eyes wide, her hands clasped tightly in her lap.

He wanted to say something. He wanted to tell her that her words were beautiful, that her passion was undeniable, that she was the most qualified person he had ever met.

But he couldn’t find the words.

So he just nodded.

”Good,” he said.

Daisy let out a breath she didn’t know she had been holding.

Alessio looked at the notepad one more time, then set it down.

”You’re hired,” he said.

Daisy stared at him, her mouth open.

Mr. Henderson stepped forward. ”Sir?”

”Send her the paperwork,” Alessio said. ”She starts Monday.”

Daisy typed frantically on her phone.

What? Really?

Alessio looked at her. ”You have the knowledge. You have the passion. And you have the soul for this work. That is more than most candidates have.”

Daisy’s eyes filled with tears.

She nodded, a smile spreading across her face. Alessio looked at her smile and found himself captivated by it.

Daisy walked out of the Kuursh Pharma building. The sun was warm on her face, the breeze soft against her skin, and her heart was full to bursting. She felt like she was floating, like her feet were barely touching the ground. The world seemed brighter, the colors more vivid, the sounds more melodic.

She could not stop smiling.

Her cheeks ached from the effort, but she didn’t care. She had done it. She had actually done it!

She walked down the street, her heels clicking against the pavement, her mind still reeling from everything that had happened.

She needed to celebrate this victory.

She found a small pizza place tucked between two larger buildings. The smell of warm dough and melted cheese drifted out the door, making her stomach growl loudly. She had not had pizza in... she could not remember. Years, maybe.

But today, she deserved it.

She walked inside and ordered a small pizza. She added a side of garlic bread and a cold drink. And because she was celebrating, she also ordered a small dessert—a warm chocolate brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

She paid and walked out with her bags, her steps light and happy.

She took a cab back to the mansion, her food carefully balanced on her lap. She watched the city pass by outside the window, her reflection smiling back at her from the glass.

She slipped inside through the back door, avoiding the servants, and climbed the stairs to her small room. Her heart was still pounding, her cheeks still flushed with excitement.

She closed the door and locked it.

She set her food on the side table and sat on her bed. She opened the pizza box and inhaled deeply. The smell of cheese, tomato, and herbs filled her small room, warm and comforting.

She took a bite.

Her eyes closed.

It was warm and gooey and perfect. The cheese stretched as she pulled the slice away. The crust was crispy, the sauce tangy, the toppings just right. She had forgotten how good pizza tasted. She had forgotten what it felt like to indulge, to treat herself, to celebrate.

She took another bite. Then another.

She picked up her phone and called Annie.

The phone rang twice, then went to voicemail. Daisy frowned and tried again. Voicemail again. She was about to try a third time when a message popped up on her screen.

Hey girl! I am so sorry I can’t talk right now. I am in the middle of a shoot. An ACTRESS photoshoot! Can you believe it? I am literally standing here with a celebrity right now. I will call you later.

Daisy’s eyes widened.

An actress photoshoot. Annie was photographing an actual actress. A real celebrity. Daisy felt a surge of pride for her best friend. Annie had worked so hard, had chased her dreams with such determination. She deserved this.

Daisy smiled. She typed back quickly.

That is amazing! I am incredibly proud of you. Enjoy the shoot! I am celebrating clearing my interview with pizza and brownies. Talk to you later!

She set her phone down and looked at her food.

Daisy picked up another slice of pizza and took a big bite. The cheese stretched, the sauce burst with flavor, the crust crunched perfectly. She ate slowly, savoring every bite. She sipped her cold drink. She dipped her garlic bread in the leftover sauce. She saved the brownie for last, letting the warm chocolate melt on her tongue.

She felt happy.

The afternoon sun streamed through her window, warm and golden. The room was quiet and peaceful. She felt sleepy, her body heavy with contentment.

She lay back on her bed, her eyes growing heavy.

And then her phone rang.

Oh no. Who was calling? Must be Annie, she thought. She reached for the phone with a smile, ready to hear her best friend’s excited voice.

But when she looked at the screen, her smile disappeared.

It was Cedric.

Her hand froze over the phone. Her heart stopped. She stared at the screen, watching his name flash.

Cedric~~
