The Martial Unity

Far away in the depths of the Gen Temple.

In the depths of the Sacred Garden of Salvation, a meditating woman opened her eyes with alarm.

Bodhisattva Maitreyi’s hand flew to her heart.

She gazed in the direction of the Gu.

A single whisper escaped her.

“Amare…!”

It was a technique of love.

Their hearts were connected through the light they shared. In that moment, she knew with all her heart that her precious granddaughter was dying.

BADUMP!!!

Her Heart, Mind, and Soul surged all at once.

“Heavenly Step of Boundless Light.”

In the blink of an eye, the very root of her existence changed.

One moment, she was comprised of materia.

The very next, she became light.

VMMMMMM!!!!!!!

Every molecule.

Every atom.

Every electron.

They were all converted into pure light.

An extraordinary beam of light that warped the very fabric of space and time. It surged forth.

It surged forth at extraordinary speeds.

It surged forth in the direction of the Gu.

It surged forth in the direction of Amare.

And yet…

She was too late.

DRIP…

DRIP…

DRIP DRIP DRIP…

Blood began dripping from the hole in Amare’s chest.

It trickled down from her lethal wound.

Her amber eyes simply gazed into the pitch-black abyss within the eyes of Demon before her. For a moment, nothing happened.

For a moment, the entire world was silent.

As though even Gaia herself was frozen in shock.

SPLAT!!!

Asmodeous mercilessly extricated his arm from her body, his gaze peering into Rui’s horrified eyes of despair through the gaping hole in her chest.

A flood of blood gushed out of the severe wound.

Her eyes grew hazy.

They darkened.

They grew vacant.

Hollow.

The bright light within them that emerged from the depths of her soul.

From who she was.

It was snuffed.

Her last breath was as soft as a sigh.

One of regret.

Her body grew limp.

Lifeless.

THUD

She struck the ground, bleeding profusely.

A small tear escaped her lifeless eyes.

Rui was frozen.

Frozen in shock. Frozen in horror.

In grief.

Sorrow.

And then, he wasn’t. RUMBLE!!!

The world shook.

It shook violently.

Fearfully.

It shook as two blood-red Suns shining with blinding brightness emerged in the depths of his eyes.

A universe of Water erupted from the depths of his very being, consuming the entire world.

It subsumed all of heaven and earth.

RUMBLE!!!!!

The deathly composure of the Demon Asmodeous cracked as a tsunami of Water flooded the entire of the Gu.

Not even the impenetrable darkness of the Gu could stop the extraordinary surge of Water.

It washed over everyone.

Everything.

Everywhere.

He was in a Realm of power by himself.

In that moment, a profound revelation erupted from the depths of the Demon’s heart.

A single instinct that whispered to Asmodeous from within his soul.

‘I must kill him right here and right now.’

BADUMP!!!

His eyes flared with bloodlust as Realms of power burst with a murderous fury.

And yet, before he could even take one more step, a beam of light of astronomical intensity blasted into him.

VMMMMMM!!!!!

The extraordinary beam of light burned his skin.

His flesh.

His muscles and bones.

It stripped the Gu of its darkness as the sheer extraordinary brilliance of the Boundless Light ravaged the Demon of Asmodeous.

An ambush with one of the most powerful attacks in all of human history.

An attack driven by the grief of losing a child.

In that moment, a single oath escaped Bodhisattva Maitreyi.

“I will exorcise you from heaven and earth with my Light if it’s the last thing I do.”

Her attack shined with the intensity of a supernova.

Not even the Gu in all its abyssal darkness could contain the sheer brilliance of the Boundless Light as she ate away at the very being of the Demon of Asmodeous.

And yet, his chilling deathly composure remained.

Even in the face of an attack that could kill even him, he was calm.

The faintest of whispers escaped the Demon.

“Darkness is born when Light dies.”

His pitch-black eyes peered into the very depths of her being.

“I sense darkness within your soul, Boundless Light.”

RUMBLE

The world shook as a flood of darkness erupted from within the very root of his being.

The Gu.

It was a poison that was the very essence of death.

It was comprised of matter, phenomena, and energies associated with the phenomena of death on an anatomical, physiological, cellular, biochemical, and even quantum level. The universalities of death, the phenomena that unfolded when a person died, the events that happened when a person died.

The Gu was a culmination of all causality associated with death refined and collected into a single poison, enhanced with materia prima and other high principles.

A poison cultivated from death.

A poison that was Death itself.

One of the most powerful forces in the entire world. So much so that even the Boundless Light herself was unable to protect herself very easily. It ate away at her light with a deathly greed, inflicting death upon each and every single attack she levied against him. And yet, she was a force of nature unto herself.

“Amitabha.”

She shined so bright that even the Sun averted its eyes from the extraordinary brilliance of her luster.

RUMBLE!!!!!

The world shook with horror as two of the very most powerful Sages in all of human civilization unleashed everything in a battle to the death. A battle that could be felt across the entirety of the Panama Continent.

A battle so extraordinarily fierce that it shook the world.

A battle so extraordinarily fierce that even the beasts and monsters of the Beast Incursion froze with fear and horror.

A battle that earned the attention of each and every single person in the entire world.

A battle that inspired fear even in the heart of Gaia herself.

A battle that even the Martial Transcendents bore witness to.

The fate of all life on the continent had converged upon a singularity of reckoning.
