Thirty Days to Hoard: Reborn into the Frost

Chapter 72: Chapter 71: Teaching Zhai Ying a Lesson

She raised her hand, grabbed Zhai Ying’s wrist, and gave it a forceful shove. Zhai Ying’s heavy body fell backward, crashing right into the food cart at her own service window. The two tiers of small vegetable dishes displayed on it plummeted to the ground with a loud CLATTER.

All those dishes could have been sold for quite a bit of money! Now they were completely ruined!

Humiliated and furious, Zhai Ying shrieked, ”You unwanted wretch! Pay for my dishes!”

Before she could finish her sentence, Chen Momo reached out, grabbed Zhai Ying by the collar, picked up an unsold dish from the window, and smashed it directly into Zhai Ying’s face.

Dark, overnight cooking oil dripped down Zhai Ying’s cheeks. The pungent smell of the grease made her gag. She wiped her mouth, SPITTING repeatedly in disgust.

The onlookers felt their stomachs turn and began to whisper among themselves.

”This stall is the truly filthy one!”

”The oil has turned black! Who knows how many times it’s been reused!”

”Even she’s completely disgusted by her own food, yet she expected us to buy it at such exorbitant prices!”

Hearing the crowd’s insults, Zhai Ying grew even more enraged. She grabbed a kitchen cleaver and stormed out from behind the window, looking like a vicious demon.

She was losing her mind. Today, she was going to take this woman down with her! She refused to believe that with her weight of over a hundred and seventy pounds, she couldn’t beat a woman who barely looked a hundred!

But Chen Momo wasn’t afraid in the slightest. Her cold, clear eyes revealed a deadly resolve. Having already survived the apocalypse once, she feared nothing! Her hands were already stained with the blood of two lives. She was no longer the timid, indecisive Chen Momo of the past!

As Zhai Ying slashed at her with the cleaver, Chen Momo dodged it effortlessly. She locked her grip around Zhai Ying’s wrist and snatched the blade right out of her hand. Next, Chen Momo lifted her back leg and delivered a spinning kick, landing a square hit on Zhai Ying’s forehead.

Zhai Ying shrieked and fell to her knees. Clutching her forehead, she began to HOWL in pain.

Blood streamed continuously down her forehead. Zhai Ying was terrified of blood. When she touched her forehead and saw the crimson stains on her hand, her entire body went weak with fright.

Chen Momo picked up the cleaver and, expressionless, hacked at a nearby table. A corner of the table snapped off on impact. Zhai Ying flinched in terror.

”If you don’t want to end up like this table, apologize to Xu Xiaoka right now!”

Trembling violently, Zhai Ying turned to look at Xu Xiaoka. ”I—I’m sorry.”

Chen Momo said coldly, ”I can’t hear you. Louder.”

Though her voice wasn’t loud, it carried a heavy murderous intent. Zhai Ying shuddered once again. She cleared her throat, fought back her tears, and shouted at Xu Xiaoka, ”I’m sorry! I was wrong earlier! I shouldn’t have thrown water at you!”

Only then did Chen Momo turn and walk away.

Zhai Ying’s husband, Ding Qiao, was a cowardly man. Seeing his wife beaten bloody, he had been scared out of his wits. It wasn’t until Chen Momo and Xu Xiaoka left that Ding Qiao snapped out of his daze and hurried forward to help Zhai Ying up.

The couple completely gave up on selling their sauerkraut fish for the day. They packed up their things early and headed home.

The cafeteria was dead silent.

It was as if the entire world had frozen in place. A few seconds later, like a scene unpaused by a director, the cafeteria gradually erupted into a cacophony of voices.

”Tsk, tsk. I really couldn’t tell that this woman had such an explosive temper.”

At the table with the four handsome men, Ouyang Feng was shocked by the spectacle. When he recovered, he clapped continuously in pure admiration. He was also studying Taekwondo, but no matter how much he practiced, he just couldn’t get it right. That woman had just perfectly demonstrated the charm of a Taekwondo black belt to him!

Jiang Yunhai was also stunned; a chopstick slipped from his fingers. The woman looked so soft and fragile. He never expected her to be this fierce!

But he liked it! Jiang Yunhai despised submissive women; he liked women with a heroic, valiant spirit! And Chen Momo was exactly that! He now realized that the ”Sauerkraut Fish Beauty” not only suited his tastes visually but also had the exact personality he loved.

Jiang Yunhai’s feelings for Chen Momo had gone beyond a simple crush; he was infatuated! He silently vowed to himself that, sooner or later, he would definitely make Chen Momo his girlfriend.

But the most shocked person of all was Gu Rongjin. He had witnessed the entire process.

Chen Momo, this seemingly frail woman, struck with a speed, precision, and ruthlessness that caught Gu Rongjin completely off guard. Having been a Special Forces operative in his past life, he had seen his fair share of amateur martial arts. But this woman genuinely possessed some real skills.

Now, he seemed to understand. It wasn’t without reason that Chen Momo, a delicate-looking woman, could safely navigate a cruel apocalypse with a five-year-old child in tow.

Liu Hui Chun walked over. Looking at the mess in the cafeteria, he said apologetically, ”Commander, the fight that just happened is due to my poor management as the head of the cafeteria. I will call the owners of both windows over later and strictly reprimand them. Especially Chen Momo—she shouldn’t have been so ruthless.”

In truth, Liu Hui Chun was biased toward Chen Momo, which was why he hadn’t made a peep while she was beating the other woman up. Only after Chen Momo finished did Liu Hui Chun pretend to be anxious and walk over to consult Gu Rongjin. He had always wanted to perform well in front of Gu Rongjin, dedicating himself fully to managing the cafeteria. He hadn’t expected Gu Rongjin to stumble upon a cafeteria brawl today. It looked extremely bad.

Liu Hui Chun worried that Gu Rongjin would be angry. Unexpectedly, Gu Rongjin picked up a napkin from the table with his slender fingers and wiped the corners of his mouth with a gentlemanly grace.

”There’s no need. Chen Momo fighting back earlier qualifies as self-defense. That couple was indeed bullying others too much; they deserved to be taught a lesson.” Gu Rongjin spoke lightly, then stood up and gave Liu Hui Chun a faint smile. ”Comrade Liu Hui Chun, you should still strengthen the management of the cafeteria in the future to prevent similar incidents from happening again.”

Liu Hui Chun nodded hastily. Such a major brawl had occurred in the dining hall, one that even drew blood, yet the Commander hadn’t blamed him for poor management. This completely took Liu Huichun by surprise.

Chen Momo walked into the breakroom and washed her hands.

Xiao Bao was taking his afternoon nap. His quiet little face was buried in a pair of chubby arms, completely oblivious to what had just transpired outside. Chen Momo grabbed a small blanket and gently draped it over Chen Xiaobao.

Xu Xiaoka followed her inside, saying excitedly, ”Sister Momo, you fought so beautifully just now! That beatdown was so satisfying!”

Chen Momo said calmly, ”They needed to be taught a lesson.”

Xu Xiaoka didn’t feel that Chen Momo had been too heavy-handed at all; on the contrary, she thought Chen Momo had done a great job!

Chen Momo stated in an even tone, ”I was intentionally ruthless. Our good business will inevitably attract jealousy from others. With over thirty service windows and over thirty owners, today Zhai Ying made things difficult for us; tomorrow it might be a Liu Ying or a Li Ying. Only by teaching Zhai Ying a harsh lesson could I make an example out of her. It lets the people at the other windows see that we aren’t easy targets, so they won’t dare to trip us up in the future.”

Chen Momo had noticed long ago that Zhai Ying’s stall wasn’t the only one in the cafeteria envious of her!
