Apocalypse Villainess? Nah, I'm Nice

After the lesson from his previous kidnapping from the base, how could Shawn Monroe have possibly gotten near the experimental zone again unless someone had deliberately let him? Let alone all the way to Nora Lowell’s secret cell!

If Paige Summers hadn’t provoked Nora Lowell beforehand, making her realize she might die there at any moment, why would she have gotten so agitated upon hearing Shawn Monroe approaching?

In fact, that entire speech Nora Lowell gave had been recorded verbatim by a voice recorder Paige Summers had planted. She had already listened to it and had a good laugh.

It must be said, Nora Lowell is a real talent!

Even after becoming a Zombie, she still has a very sharp mind.

Paige Summers only had someone drop a few hints about Shawn Monroe’s situation, and Nora immediately pinpointed the man’s weak spot, appealing to his emotions...

So, it was no surprise to Paige Summers that Shawn Monroe acted the way he did.

This plan had its origins in the news from Central City about the bases gaining autonomy.

Of course, its smooth execution was also thanks to Shawn Monroe’s ”cooperation.”

A smile touched Paige Summers’s lips.

Previously, when Shawn Monroe had been so obsessed with her, she’d never understood why. But later, when he spoke of that dream, she realized that while the man looked normal on the outside, ”inside,” he was already seriously messed up!

To the average person, a dream is just a dream.

Whether sad or happy, it’s ultimately false, over once the dream ends.

But for Shawn Monroe, that clearly wasn’t the case.

The man he was now—no, or rather, from the moment he meticulously planned to abduct Paige Summers—had already begun to be ruled by his dreams!

Since he had ”dreamed” of Paige Summers, how could he possibly not have ”dreamed” of Nora Lowell?

Just as it was written in the original novel, Shawn Monroe and Nora Lowell, as the male and female leads, naturally had an exciting life. Whether it was the sweetness of their daily life or the hardship of their shared struggles, it was all bound to be memorable.

Shawn Monroe’s obsession with the ”Paige Summers” in the story was simply because, in reality, he could no longer find someone who loved him so wholeheartedly.

He tried to superimpose that persona onto the current Paige Summers, but he failed.

So what about Nora Lowell?

Upon meeting her again, would he transfer those feelings from the original novel onto the real-life Nora Lowell?

The result was just as Paige Summers had expected.

Even if he still held a grudge against Nora Lowell, he was still unwilling to let anyone else control her fate...

’Very good.’

Paige Summers genuinely felt that this result couldn’t have been better; it exceeded her expectations.

’A Shawn Monroe completely preoccupied with his ”dream world” will no longer pose any threat!’

She leaned down and planted a kiss on the gurgling Annie’s cheek, then turned to Marcus Monroe and winked. ”Don’t worry. This time, as long as Shawn Monroe does what he promised, we probably won’t see him or Nora Lowell again after they leave.”

Marcus Monroe looked at her, not knowing whether to laugh or cry, and was momentarily at a loss for words.

’He realized this woman simply couldn’t sit still!’

’He wouldn’t let her do physical labor, so she started doing mental labor instead. Looks like I really need to find something to keep her busy!’

And so, the matter was settled.

After hearing Marcus Monroe’s reply, Shawn Monroe immediately prepared to set off for Central City.

The matter was of great importance, so he knew he had to speak with Kiera Walsh in person.

Before he left, he asked to see Nora Lowell.

Marcus Monroe agreed.

As for what they actually talked about, Marcus Monroe had no interest in knowing. In any case, he wasn’t worried that Shawn Monroe would change his mind.

But Shawn Monroe didn’t.

Although his mood was extremely low after seeing Nora Lowell, he still resolutely returned to Central City.

Marcus Monroe specifically dispatched a team to escort him, lest he get killed on the road in his distracted state.

News of the bases’ merger and autonomy hadn’t just reached Bloodfall; Southreach, though slightly behind, had also heard it by now.

What was good news for Bloodfall was not necessarily so for Southreach.

It couldn’t be called bad news, either.

Previously, when Southreach’s strength was at its peak, they naturally would have seen it as a good thing. But things were different now. Southreach was no longer the sole power in the south; now they had Bloodfall to contend with.

Maisie Joyce and Claire Chapman had officially held their wedding.

Although Marcus Monroe and Paige Summers from Bloodfall had not attended, they sent a generous wedding gift. At the time, the sacks of grain had caused quite a stir of excitement among the people of Southreach.

However, when the news of the merger and autonomy arrived, Southreach’s leadership couldn’t help but grow worried.

Keith Preston spoke to Maisie Joyce in private. ”Bloodfall Base is growing stronger and stronger. It’s possible they received inside information ahead of time. We’ve all witnessed Bloodfall’s combat strength. What if they have designs on Southreach... Shouldn’t we start making preparations?”
