Apocalypse Villainess? Nah, I'm Nice

In the nick of time, Paige Summers leaped back, dodging the scalpel! But just then, a woman from the other hospital bed wrapped her arms around Paige from behind with incredible speed!

Paige Summers shot her elbow back like lightning, aiming for the woman’s hip bone...

The woman didn’t even try to dodge. She took the full force of the blow but refused to loosen her grip.

In that brief moment of delay, the female doctor closed in on Paige Summers, scalpel in hand.

By now, a dagger had already appeared in Paige Summers’s hand.

Her forearm was still free. She stabbed backward at the arms holding her and simultaneously kicked out at the female doctor.

The kick landed square. The female doctor was sent flying toward the other patient’s bed. With a loud CRASH, the bed frame collapsed.

Outside, Claire Chapman and the others had already pushed the door open and rushed in.

But at that very moment, the woman holding her spun around to face her.

Paige Summers froze when she saw the woman’s face. Her movements slowed for just a beat, but that was all the time the woman needed. She threw herself onto Paige’s dagger, her hands clamping down on Paige’s, preventing her from pulling it away...

The woman collapsed to the floor almost instantly.

’This is bad,’ Paige thought.

She didn’t even have time to say anything to Claire Chapman and his team before people burst into the outer room.

They were incredibly fast, appearing at the doorway in just a few seconds.

The female doctor played her part, crying out in a hoarse voice, ”M-murder! There’s been a murder!”

Paige Summers looked at Claire Chapman and sighed.

”It’s May Joyce.”

She was referring to the woman on the floor, who was no longer breathing.

Claire Chapman looked as if he’d been struck by lightning. Before he could check the body, the young man who had just burst in cried out and rushed to the woman on the floor, cradling her in his arms. ”Third Miss!”

Paige Summers’s mind raced. She could hear the faint sound of many footsteps approaching from outside. She made a quick hand signal to Claire Chapman and his team. The meaning was clear: ’Break out!’

They immediately understood and nodded, weapons in hand, and charged outside to clear a path.

But by the time they realized Paige’s true meaning was ’You break out,’ it was too late. They had safely broken through the enemy encirclement, but Paige Summers had stayed behind...

In truth, Paige Summers never planned on leaving.

From the looks of it, this whole thing was a trap, aimed squarely at her and Claire Chapman!

She was the main perpetrator in May Joyce’s death, and Claire Chapman was her accomplice.

Someone wanted them dead!

May Joyce was part of it, but she must have had a collaborator.

Paige didn’t know who this person was, but she was certain of one thing: it wasn’t Leo Joyce.

Still, she couldn’t understand why May Joyce would do this... ’Was it just because Claire Chapman rejected her? If you don’t love me, then we’ll die together?’

It was just too absurd!

From what Paige had seen, she didn’t seem to love Claire Chapman to the point of being willing to die for him!

What was even stranger was the smile on her face after she died...

Paige Summers sat in a special prison cell in Southreach, her chin propped in her hand. The iron chains on her wrists CLATTERED for a moment before falling silent.

’These chains, and the large cage holding me, are all made of an extremely hard alloy. Leo Joyce really went out of his way,’ she thought wryly. ’What a waste of materials just to imprison someone! Still, it shows how seriously he’s taking me. He’s definitely treating me like a major criminal.’

’With a setup like this, any other Superpower User would probably be completely helpless.’

’But I’m different. I have my pocket dimension, and it’s full of tools. If I wanted to leave, this cage wouldn’t be enough to stop me.’

’But I don’t feel like leaving.’

’I’d rather see who this mastermind is, the one so determined to have us killed!’

’And while I’m at it, I’ll sound out Leo Joyce.’

She could tell that Leo Joyce valued them.

His interest was different from the mastermind’s. He seemed to want them alive, which was why he was delaying his decision and had simply locked her up here.

Paige Summers wanted to know why.

Know your enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles without defeat.

Since their base was built here, they would be dealing with Southreach for a long time to come. The more inside information she gathered, the better it would be for Bloodfall.

While she was pondering these things, the successfully escaped Claire Chapman was doing the same.

When he had broken out only to find that Paige Summers had deliberately let go of his hand to stay behind, he understood her intentions.

He was incredibly frustrated.

But he also knew that if they were both locked up, Paige Summers could escape, but he might not be able to.

Besides, with Paige Summers’s current youthful appearance, their enemies would lower their guard. If it were him instead, the perceived threat level would be several times higher.
