Immortal-Exterminating Divine Venerable

”Wanyu, stop!”

When she first saw her sister attack, Ye Wanqing had no intention of stopping her.

She figured that with Yang Xiao’s strength, he could definitely resolve the situation with ease.

But soon, Ye Wanqing realized something was wrong. This time, Yang Xiao didn’t dodge. His face looked awful, and a bad feeling suddenly welled up inside her.

’Could something have happened to him?’

The moment this thought occurred to her, Ye Wanqing instantly blurted out to her sister.

But unfortunately, it was already too late.

Ye Wanyu’s sword had already pierced Yang Xiao’s body.

Blood sprayed everywhere.

”Ah! How... Why didn’t you dodge!”

Having landed the blow, Ye Wanyu couldn’t help but be startled.

Because even she herself didn’t actually think her sword could hit Yang Xiao.

But now, what was going on?

Seeing the splash of fresh blood, her face—fierce in words but having never truly drawn blood—turned pale. She could no longer hold the sword in her hand.

CLANG! It fell to the ground.

Yang Xiao, on the other hand, was twitching from the pain.

He hissed, sucking in a breath.

’I *did* dodge!’ he wanted to say. ’Otherwise, that sword of yours was aimed at my throat, not my chest. If I hadn’t managed to dodge just a little bit, you would have actually killed me.’

But at this moment, he couldn’t even speak.

Fortunately, Ye Wanyu hadn’t used her internal energy, merely piercing his body with the blade. With Yang Xiao’s formidable physique, even with his power Sealed, he could still withstand it.

As long as it wasn’t a vital spot, it wasn’t a major problem.

It just hurt like hell.

He was covered in a cold sweat.

”Yang Xiao, are you okay? Why didn’t you dodge!”

At that moment, Ye Wanqing finally reacted and rushed forward.

Her face was full of anxiety.

Tears were about to fall.

Compared to her sister, Ye Wanqing’s feelings were much more complex. She wasn’t prejudiced against Yang Xiao like her sister; on the contrary, because of Grandma Lio’s dying instructions, she had actually accepted him deep down inside.

She even vaguely thought of him as her future husband.

But, as a woman, while she had passively accepted this, she hadn’t revealed these feelings.

But now, seeing Yang Xiao injured...

Her heart ached terribly.

For the first time, a trace of resentment toward her sister stirred within her heart.

”Sis, I really didn’t mean to! Who told him not to dodge?”

Seeing her sister’s reaction, Ye Wanyu knew she was in the wrong, but her stubborn nature prevented her from admitting it. Subconsciously, she shifted the blame to Yang Xiao.

In the past, if she had said something like this, Ye Wanqing would have felt helpless but wouldn’t have blamed her.

But this time, a pair of red-rimmed eyes glared at her.

In that instant, Ye Wanyu froze.

A sense of grievance filled her heart.

And a sense of emptiness, as if something that belonged to her had been snatched away.

Then, she watched as her sister took a Pill from her Daoist Ring and carefully fed it into Yang Xiao’s mouth. Her gentle manner was just like how she had taken care of Wanyu when she was hurt as a child.

An intense wave of jealousy surged through her.

’Hmph, that guy must be faking it. Otherwise, how could he have failed to dodge that sword strike? I get it! He’s definitely trying to drive a wedge between us sisters! Yes, that must be it!’

The more Ye Wanyu thought about it, the more convinced she became.

The look she gave Yang Xiao grew increasingly hostile.

’It’s all because of this guy! He caused Grandma Lio’s death, and now he’s even going to steal my sister!’

At this thought, the last trace of guilt she felt vanished.

Her heart was filled with nothing but hatred.

Hatred for Yang Xiao.

Neither Yang Xiao nor Ye Wanqing noticed this.

Because right now, Ye Wanqing was wholeheartedly tending to Yang Xiao, and he, in turn, was feeling quite comfortable under her care.

For the first time, he felt that these two girls from the Ye Family—no, that this girl, Ye Wanqing—was actually quite nice.

She was gentle and knew how to take care of people—much better than her sister.

Involuntarily, Yang Xiao gave her a few more glances.

And as Yang Xiao looked at her, Ye Wanqing immediately blushed.

She was very shy. At this moment, she herself realized it too.

She felt that her actions were a bit too forward.

But seeing Yang Xiao’s current state, she didn’t dare leave, afraid something might happen to him.

Seeing her like this...

Yang Xiao found the girl even more endearing.

Especially when she blushed.

Plus, thanks to her meticulous care, his injuries were gradually healing.

Yang Xiao couldn’t help but think of the matter of the Preacher and said, ”There’s something I’d like to ask for your help with, if that’s alright.”

”Ah? You want my help? Uh, what is it?”

Ye Wanqing was a little surprised, but she quickly asked.

”I want you to be my Guardian—a Guardian for the Path of the Human Emperor...”

”You... You’re going to walk the Path of the Human Emperor?”

Ye Wanqing was even more astonished.

And Yang Xiao, who had been about to explain, was also surprised to hear this. ”You know about the Path of the Human Emperor?”

”Mhm, I read about it in a book. I understand now! That’s why you couldn’t dodge earlier. So you’re walking the Path of the Human Emperor! But... are you sure you want me to be your Guardian? My strength is only at the Small Divine Ability Realm...”

Ye Wanqing looked a little ashamed.

She clearly felt she wasn’t qualified.

But Yang Xiao smiled. ”It’s fine. Right now, on the entire Profound Sun Continent, there probably aren’t many who surpass you. Because the Immortal Cultivators have all been crippled. Even if a few still have some strength now, it will disappear without a trace over time. Your strength is more than enough.”

”What... What did you say? The Immortal Cultivators have been crippled?”

Ye Wanqing’s face was filled with astonishment.

”Of course it’s true. And from now on, no new Immortal Cultivators will ever be born on the Profound Sun Continent.”

Hearing this, Ye Wanqing instinctively refused to believe him, thinking he was joking.

After all, that was the Immortal Dao Influence that had destroyed their Ye Family Main Lineage. How could they have been crippled just like that?

But seeing Yang Xiao’s dead-serious expression, she couldn’t help but believe him a little.

”Hmph, you’re clearly just bragging. Do you think we’ll believe you? Or are you trying to trick us into thinking you did all this?”

Seeing that her sister seemed to be falling for this guy’s nonsense, Ye Wanyu finally couldn’t hold back any longer.

She sneered.

The look she gave Yang Xiao was one of utter contempt.

In response, Yang Xiao didn’t even bother to spare her a glance.

Instead, he said to Ye Wanqing, ”This is very easy to verify. I can take you to see for yourself. Also, are you willing to be my Guardian?”

Hearing Yang Xiao ask her again...

Although Ye Wanqing still had her doubts, she nodded nonetheless.

She was willing.

Seeing this, Yang Xiao smiled.

But Ye Wanyu exploded with rage.

She felt more and more wronged, as if her sister was being stolen away. Unwilling to accept it, she suddenly snatched the longsword from the ground.

SWISH!

She thrust at Yang Xiao once more.

Only this time...

things were different.

Although Yang Xiao still had no way to fight back...

Ye Wanqing made her move.
