Immortal-Exterminating Divine Venerable

The Ye Family.

”Father, the Ancestor has spoken this time. We can definitely annihilate the Yang Family!”

Ye Chengzong’s face was filled with smug delight.

A smile graced Ye Lingtian’s face as well.

This time, he had broken through to the Martial Arts Grandmaster Realm and was even granted an audience with the Ancestor.

As part of their conversation, he had brought up the matter of the Yang Family.

When the Ye Family Ancestor, who no longer concerned himself with sect affairs, learned that one of his own descendants had been killed in a conspiracy by the son of a Guest Minister…

…he was still enraged.

However, Ye Lingtian had no proof, and besides, Ye Zongling had already gone to deal with that little bastard.

No matter how protective the Ye Family Ancestor was of his own, he had no reason to storm the Yang Family’s gates directly.

Besides, the Yang Family was very close to Medicine Peak because of Yang Xiao. Without a valid reason, it wasn’t convenient for the Ye Family Ancestor to make a move, even as a Supreme Elder and the strongest expert in the Purple Sun Sect.

But targeting Yang Xiao’s status was an excellent approach.

As long as they could get the Yang Family expelled and stripped of the Purple Sun Sect’s protection, it would be much easier for the Ye Family to move against them.

Even if the Ye Family Ancestor himself took action, there would be no issue at all.

”That little brat Yang Xiao must already be dead by Grandfather’s hand. I just wonder if Grandfather managed to get the Divine Power Secret Skill from him.”

Ye Chengzong said, his face full of expectation.

Ye Lingtian frowned slightly. ”Your grandfather has been gone for some time now. I’ve been telling everyone he’s in secluded cultivation to fend off his social obligations, but if he doesn’t show up for the Sect Competition tomorrow, I’m afraid there might be a problem.”

”A problem? What kind of problem?”

Ye Chengzong was confused.

”The Sect Competition is a major annual event. Normally, it wouldn’t matter if your grandfather appeared or not, but this time is a crucial moment for you to compete for the position of Junior Sect Leader. I believe that no matter how busy he is, he would have returned, unless…”

”Unless what?”

Ye Lingtian shook his head and didn’t continue. Instead, he said to Ye Chengzong, ”Go make the arrangements. Although we’re certain that little bastard Yang Xiao is dead, accidents can always happen. You must be prepared. Don’t let him actually come back and slip through the cracks.”

”Don’t worry, Father! Even if that kid got lucky and escaped from Grandfather, it’s useless. I’ve already arranged for Yang Hou, Yang Songg, and three other Inner Sect Disciples who have a chance of being promoted to True Disciples. The moment Yang Xiao appears, he’ll be ambushed and killed by them!”

Ye Chengzong wore a triumphant expression.

”I hope so.”

Ye Lingtian said faintly.

...

The next day, the Sect Competition officially began.

The entire Sect Competition was divided into two rounds.

The first round was the competition for Outer Mansion Disciples.

Outer Mansion Disciples were divided into two groups: Outer Disciples and Registered Disciples. Only those who reached the Martial Artist Fourth Level could be promoted to an official Outer Disciple.

Yang Xiao himself was once an ordinary Registered Disciple. If he hadn’t become an official Outer Disciple by the age of sixteen, he would have been expelled.

And because of him, Yang Zhentian, whose position was not yet stable at the time, would have also been implicated.

In addition, the official Outer Disciples would also compete to determine the top ten. These individuals would then earn the right to challenge Inner Sect Disciples.

A successful challenge would make them an Inner Sect Disciple.

The competition between Inner Sect Disciples and Core Disciples would take place in the second round.

After the Outer Sect Competition ended.

It was time for the Inner Sect Competition.

This was also divided into two tiers.

A ranking and elimination tournament for ordinary Inner Sect Disciples.

If an Inner Sect Disciple failed to reach the Seventh Layer of a Martial Master and become a Core Disciple by the age of twenty-five, they would be dispatched to the Outer Mansion to serve in positions like Steward, Chief Steward, and other similar administrative roles.

Likewise, becoming one of the top ten Inner Sect Disciples granted the qualification to challenge a Core Disciple. Success meant promotion to a Core Disciple.

Generally speaking, becoming a Core Disciple of the Sect would draw the attention of the entire Purple Sun Sect.

At the very least, they would be accepted by an Elder as a Direct Disciple.

Many would even become disciples of the First Elders of the various halls.

As for True Disciples.

They were required to break through to the Innate Realm before the age of thirty.

Anyone who could achieve this was a True Disciple.

That was a competition on another level entirely.

The struggle for the Junior Sect Leader position would take place among the True Disciples, and only the top ten True Disciples were qualified to compete.

Of course, the most important factor for the Junior Sect Leader position was one’s cultivation and strength.

As long as you were confident, even if you weren’t ranked among the top True Disciples, you could still challenge those ranked higher.

And obtain the qualification.

Therefore, the entire process of the Sect Competition consisted of three rounds of contests: the Outer Sect Competition, the Inner Sect Competition, and the competition for the Junior Sect Leader position.

Each round lasted about three days.

But for Yang Xiao, there were only three days.

The first day.

Yang Xiao did not appear.

The second day.

He still did not appear.

The third day.

He still hadn’t appeared.

On the fourth day, the Inner Sect Competition officially began.

Yang Xiao still had not appeared.

”Yang Zhentian, it seems you truly intend to defy the Sect Leader’s command. Or perhaps you feel our Purple Sun Sect is too small a temple to house a great Buddha like your Yang Family?”

After waiting for three days, the Ye Family finally began to make their move.

The one speaking was not Ye Lingtian, of course, but the Vice Head of the Law Enforcement Hall who had appeared before to make trouble for the Yang Family.

The Direct Disciple of the former Sect Leader, the junior martial brother of the current Sect Leader, Yann Xu.

”Indeed, Yang Xiao is too audacious. As an Outer Disciple, skipping the Outer Sect Competition is one thing, but to not even show up for the Inner Sect Competition… does he still consider himself a disciple of the Purple Sun Sect?”

”If you ask me, the people from Medicine Peak are coddling him too much. They let him enjoy the treatment of a Vice Medicine Peak Master. A junior who used to be trash, who knows what fortuitous encounter he stumbled upon to be given such a high position. It’s really too much.”

”That’s right. Hearing you say it, this boy Yang Xiao really is un-teachable. With just a little bit of skill, he dares to disregard the Sect’s rules. This kind of attitude cannot be allowed to spread.”

”I propose that we expel Yang Xiao and strip him of his statuses as Vice Medicine Peak Master and disciple of the Purple Sun Sect.”

On the high platform, Yann Xu’s words set off a chain reaction.

Even a member of the lofty Elder Council spoke up.

And in the Purple Sun Sect, only Martial Arts Grandmasters could become members of the Elder Council. The entire Purple Sun Sect had only twelve.

They represented strength and authority.

Ye Zongling was one of them, and now, Ye Lingtian was one of them as well.

Of the twelve members of the Elder Council, the Ye Family father and son occupied two seats.

Add to that the Ye Family Ancestor, the number one expert in the Purple Sun Sect.

And Ye Chengzong, a strong contender for the Junior Sect Leader position.

It was feared that not even the Sect Leader of the Purple Sun Sect could contend with them.

Yann Xu, naturally, had willingly become a running dog for the Ye Family.

It wasn’t just him; at least six or seven Elders in the Elder Council also sided with the Ye Family.

The rest were mostly neutral.

Helping neither side.

To avoid offending Medicine Peak.

After all, Elder Yao was also a Supreme Elder of the Purple Sun Sect, representing the peak of the Medicine Dao.

”Yang Zhentian, have Yang Xiao come out. This Sect Leader would also like to meet him.”

Just as the Elder Council member finished speaking, a man in a purple, gold-trimmed robe seated at the highest position also spoke indifferently.

He was none other than the Sect Leader of the Purple Sun Sect, Lin Nantian.
