She Lives without Regret in This Life

”You go! Let me be alone for a while.” Meng Ping lit another cigarette and continued to puff and exhale clouds.

Unable to let go, unable to forget, unable to achieve... he, Meng Ping, had actually fallen to this point. He thought he could do it; his self-control was supposedly very good, yet he failed the moment he encountered her.

The saddest part is that she avoids him like the plague, she wouldn’t even make eye contact with him.

”Don’t keep sitting here, it’s too cold.” Xu Mo stood up, wrapped his clothes around him, and stomped his feet, ”Come on, I’ll take you for a drink!”

Meng Ping was a regular at nightclubs, and he even owned many of them. He hadn’t been in a long time, nor did he dare to drink; before drinking, he could still maintain his rationality, but once he drank, even he didn’t know what he might do.

Sometimes he even had an absurd thought—if she wouldn’t willingly come to him, it would be fine to take her by force. Even if there were a child, it didn’t matter; he wouldn’t care, as long as she gave birth to the child, he would love it.

A trace of madness gradually appeared on Meng Ping’s handsome face. Sometimes when emotions are suppressed for too long, you think you can forget, but over time, it’s easy to collapse. A single touch, her smile, her breath, her fragrance...

These are all triggers for an outburst.

”What if the Living Yama can’t return?” Meng Ping looked up at Xu Mo, a hint of madness in his eyes.

”Huh?” Xu Mo widened his eyes in shock, his heart racing, unable to react for a long time.

”Forget it, pretend I didn’t say anything.” Meng Ping threw away the half-smoked cigarette in his hand, got up, and put on his coat to leave.

Xu Mo finally caught on and chased after him once more.

”Boss, are you joking? Are you messing with me? This joke isn’t funny at all.” Xu Mo shouted for a long time, but Meng Ping didn’t answer. However, he knew his boss never joked around.

At the hostel, before Shen Ming was awake in the morning, there was a ”bang bang bang” knocking at the door, Ji Shiyu, still half-asleep, drowsily urged him to go open it.

The two of them had a fierce argument when they offended Feng Zhenzhen. In the end, Ji Shiyu had no choice but to relent to avoid being kicked out. Initially, she didn’t think much of Shen Ming and even treated him poorly. However, ever since their marriage, Ji Shiyu had become more and more compliant in front of Shen Ming without knowing why.

”Who is it?”

”Shen Ming, it’s me.”

The person knocking was someone Shen Ming knew very well, and upon hearing the voice, he immediately woke up. He got dressed and opened the door, surprised to see the visitor, ”Why are you here?”

This person was Ji Shiyu’s cousin, Ji Zhicheng, Shen Ming’s ally. If it hadn’t been for his help from within, Shen Ming might not have been able to marry Ji Shiyu. Because the Steel King only had one daughter, Ji Zhicheng always eyed his uncle’s wealth, so he colluded with Shen Ming to calculate against the Ji Family. ”I have something to discuss with you.” Ji Zhicheng gestured, and Shen Ming understood, following him out quietly.

The two reached the corridor of the hostel, and Shen Ming impatiently asked, ”What do you have to say?” If he hadn’t been good at enduring, he would have fallen out with Ji Zhicheng long ago.

After all, now that he’s married Ji Shiyu, Ji Zhicheng holds no value to him anymore.

”The Ji Family has gone bankrupt.” Ji Zhicheng’s face was pale as death, having rushed overnight from the Northwest, thinking it was still a secret, only to find out it was the talk of the town just after leaving the train station.

”The news is spreading everywhere.” Ji Zhicheng viciously kicked a nearby garbage can, which clattered to the ground with a metallic clang.

This news was undoubtedly a bolt from the blue for Shen Ming. He recalled Feng Zhenzhen’s threat at the train station, saying that she’d bankrupt the Steel King in ten days. Sure enough, today was exactly the tenth day.

Shen Ming’s face gradually twisted, becoming frighteningly sinister. Though he was angry when threatened back then and had prepared, he hadn’t taken it seriously because the Steel King had long been an enormous entity, impossible to bankrupt.
