Family Rise by Daily Intelligence

Chapter 905: Chapter 336: Outer Realms, Ancient Artifacts, Saving Lives (Ten Thousand-Word Combo Chapter)_3

Almost a hundred years old, Fu Changren picked it up and glanced at it, his brow furrowed. With a snap, he closed the book and sharply knocked his cane:

”Building a Lordless City in the Eastern Wilderness, a place that can’t even guarantee safety from day to day, is utterly absurd!

Although the Eastern Wilderness seems peaceful now, historically it has never truly been calm. We are investing so much manpower and resources to construct a city we cannot even control. When war breaks out, those loose cultivators, originally gathered from all over, will guard that Lordless City like we guard our ancestral legacy? Surely when catastrophe comes, they’ll all fly away, and our resources and efforts will go to waste.

The clan has these resources; it would be better to invest them in the future generations.”

Fu Changren is an elder in the clan.

Although he hasn’t reached Foundation Establishment, he was once one of the Four Cultivators. Furthermore, his daughter, Fu Yongwei, has exceptional talent in Spirit Plant Mastery. After taking over the Spirit Plant Hall, the hybrid Red Marrow Rice she improved increased output by nearly fifty percent compared to before.

Moreover,

Any spirit plant that couldn’t thrive or was diseased in the clan, after passing through Fu Yongwei’s hands, would always be miraculously restored.

Therefore,

Even though Fu Yongwei stayed in the Back Mountain Water Curtain Cave and never went out, everyone in the clan would give a thumbs up when mentioning the new Hall Master of the Spirit Plant Hall, expressing their admiration for her. Fu Changren’s standing also naturally elevated.

Unlike other elders,

who retire honorably at a certain age,

Fu Changren, since the passing of his wife, has remained steadfastly in the Council Hall.

Perhaps with age, personality changes.

Fu Changren’s once generous nature in his youth has turned aggressive in his later years. He likes to involve himself in all clan affairs, big or small, and often opposes the reforms proposed by the younger generation.

In his view,

The current situation of the Fu Family should be maintained honestly, as it promises development for several hundred years without need for upheaval.

Finishing his speech, Fu Changren saw that Fu Yongshang did not intend to withdraw, his eyes narrowed slightly:

”Shang, do you think I’m wrong?”

”Uncle, your reasoning naturally holds merit, but from another perspective, what is most difficult for a loose cultivator? It is wandering without attachment. If the Lordless City can bind them together with interests and a sense of belonging, allowing them to truly feel it as their refuge, I ask you, when disaster truly strikes, with their family in the city, the destruction of the city means ruin of their home and people. I believe they will be more willing to fight than ever.”

”Humph, Shang, you think too kindly of loose cultivators. They...”

Seeing they were about to argue,

Fu Yongfan hurriedly intervened:

”Uncle, Brother Yongshang, let’s wait for Father to return to decide this matter. Our clan’s most pressing task now is the Purple Mansion Celebration.”

....

Unlike the tense atmosphere of the Council Hall,

Jade Lotus led Haiyun to the side hall of the Patriarch’s Mansion; those descendants who were unmarried would generally not move out, and Fu Yongshang repeatedly instructed that Haiyun should live with him.

After settling her down, Jade Lotus glanced at the other’s exposed navel and fragrant shoulders and couldn’t help but say:

”Miss Haiyun, I have a few sets of new clothes this year that haven’t been worn. Would you like to try one or two as a replacement?”

”Thank you for the kindness, sister-in-law, but I’m not accustomed to wearing such intricate clothes.”

Jade Lotus felt slightly rebuffed.

What a situation.

Brother Fuu and the lady before her haven’t even reached the point of marriage, yet she called her ’sister-in-law’ so naturally. It was Jade Lotus’s first time encountering such a woman. After casually chatting for a bit, she turned and left, feeling that it was best if such a woman didn’t join the Fu Family; otherwise, in the future, if they truly became sisters-in-law, it wouldn’t be easy to get along.

Once Jade Lotus left,

Hee Qingru came visiting with her three-year-old son.

Fu Yongyi had recently opened his Niwan Palace, becoming Half-Step Purple Mansion, and had come out of seclusion. Although no celebration was held, many from the clan came to curry favor. Originally like a transparent figure in the Fu Family, Hee Qingru surprisingly handled things with ease, adeptly mingling and showing some of Liuu Meizhen’s demeanor, which took the Fu Family by surprise. Moreover, since Hee Qingru hailed from the Ninth-Grade Hee Family, the family grew closer to Fu Yongyi’s faction.

After all,

The Fu Family’s Crown Prince position was vacant.

Though Yaoyao was also Half-Step Purple Mansion, she had no mind for family affairs.

In contrast, Fu Yongyi not only achieved repeatedly but also managed family affairs commendably during several occasions.

Haiyun glanced at Hee Qingru and immediately identified her:

”Greetings, eldest sister-in-law.”

Fu Yongyi, as an adopted child, ranked first by age but was fourth in the family tree; Haiyun calling her that brought pride to Hee Qingru, who took Haiyun’s hand and sat down, laughing:

”Sister, this outfit is quite unique. If you have any spare, gift a set to your sister-in-law.”

Everyone felt Haiyun’s attire was mismatched.

It was the first time Haiyun heard someone wanting to emulate her, regardless of sincerity, it was an act of goodwill.

Without hesitation, Haiyun lightly tapped the seashell beads on her wrist, and with a flash of dawn light, a fresh new outfit of the same style floated towards Hee Qingru. Hee Qingru was instead attracted by the seashell bead chain on Haiyun’s hand:

”Sister, your Sea Lotus Bead Chain is actually used for storage; it’s the first time I’ve seen one.”

Saying so,

She immediately tried on Haiyun’s clothes.
