Immortality begins with Becoming an Alchemy Grandmaster

Furthermore, even if I truly devoted my energy to learning that pill technique, I’m afraid it would be difficult to even pass the first trial.

”I wonder how Luo Chen is doing over there?”

”It’s amusing, isn’t it, if you stop at the second trial after the Alchemy Saint Hall has been opened early for you.”

Though there’s no hatred, there’s always resentment.

Chu Yu shook her head, flicking away the pile of medicinal dregs from the Pill Refining Furnace.

She had already failed and couldn’t continue moving forward.

The only option was to return the way she came.

In the hall, a gentle force of Qi power came, enveloping her and pulling her outward.

She didn’t resist, so there was no chance of injury.

But just as she crossed the first trial, she was surprised to see a large amount of intense white light flying towards the same direction.

The two passed each other, and an older man with a rosy complexion nodded kindly to her.

It was Mr. Xuan Yan!

Chu Yan was incredibly surprised, but she subconsciously offered her good wishes: ”I wish you prosperity in the Dao of Alchemy!”

”Haha, the future is yours, I wish you prosperity in the Dao of Alchemy!”

Mr. Xuan Yan laughed freely and stepped into the second trial.

At that moment, it had only been a few days since he entered the hall.

...

”Being quick off the mark is temporary, reaching the finish line first makes one a hero.”

”Luo Chen, in the end, your foundation is too thin!”

In a hall filled with a burning atmosphere, Chen Mozi, despite his weary expression, was full of joy.

He had reached the third trial!

The first trial took him a year.

The second, entrapped him for a full two years!

But for him, this time was already extraordinarily fast.

If it weren’t for the failure of the last trial, giving him advance preparation, the second trial would have been difficult to pass by the end of the challenge.

His gaze swept across the hall, Chen Mozi was not surprised at all.

This was because the setup of this hall was a very common scene for a Pill Refiner.

Earth fire opening, bellows, human-shaped puppet...

This was the solitary Pill Refinement Room essential for a High-Order Alchemist of the Dark Abyss Sect.

Just the space was larger, able to accommodate multiple Pill Refiners working together.

”What is the third trial’s challenge?”

Chen Mozi was extremely curious because he had never been here for the third trial either.

Throughout the Dark Abyss Sect, only Mr. Xuan Yan had ever been here.

Just as he was curious, the earth fire in the hall surged, forming a pill formula in the air visible only to him.

”Is it to refine a new elixir?”

”Fourth Order?”

”A bit troublesome, but fortunately, it’s not difficult for me.”

Chen Mozi felt a sense of relief as if he already saw the scene of passing the trial.

But just as he was about to start, he suddenly froze.

”Are the conditions this harsh?”

...

Second trial, in a spacious room.

A white-robed daoist sat cross-legged, surrounded by scattered medicinal dregs.

The elaborate hairstyle previously styled by Hui Niang was now disheveled.

A pair of golden pupils shone brightly, but the whites of his eyes were bloodshot.

Those blood vessels were not the result of exerting origin force but rather the stress of overthinking and mental exhaustion.

At this moment, the white-robed daoist stared blankly at a piece of medicinal dregs before him, muttering to himself.

”Just a little more, a little more, still a little more.”

”Where exactly is it lacking?”

Suddenly!

His nostrils twitched, sniffing the air.

Amidst a chaos of scents, he detected a familiar aroma.

Luo Chen was stunned, waving his hand.

Immediately, a clump of failed reverse-refined medicinal dregs fell in front of him.

He looked down and suddenly understood.

This was a Third Order pill known as Bai Zhi Paste, specifically used to dispel coldness, and had excellent healing effects on those suffering from extreme cold invasions.

And the main ingredients of this Bai Zhi Paste would be special Water Attribute herbs such as stream white ginger, Qi Lian, chaotic flowing water plants, etc.

He recalled his failure in reverse refining.

But why was he still able to smell a hint of Qi Lian aroma?

Luo Chen curiously fiddled with the medicinal dregs, using his unformed pill technique to separate the other impurities, ultimately obtaining a clump of blackened liquid.

Gazing at this liquid, Luo Chen fell into contemplative thought.

After a while, awakening as if receiving a great epiphany, Luo Chen’s face lit up with ecstasy.

”That’s it!”

”That’s it!”

”I previously focused too much on form, disregarding essence, overly pursuing the original appearance of the materials.”

”But in reality, our pill refinement often aims to extract the special substances in certain materials. That is the essence of the materials, and it persists regardless of change.”

”Just like cultivation, absorbing and expelling Heaven and Earth Qi to achieve great power, when the Nascent Soul disperses, the vast Qi power returns to its essence, becoming the scattered Spirit Qi drifting into the world.”

”When dust returns to dust and earth to earth, ultimately all splendor amounts to a handful of sand.”

”I do not seek the pearl in the crown, but merely those pure grains of sand!”

”Thus, this technique shouldn’t be that way, it should...”

In his ecstasy, the seal gesture in Luo Chen’s hands suddenly changed, gently wiping the blackened liquid.

This wipe was like the groom unveiling the bride, like the wind parting clouds to reveal the bright moon, Luo Chen finally saw the essence of the aroma.

A touch of pure white, faintly visible.

The subtle fragrance of Qi Lian drifted!

Power infused, even a lotus flower slowly unfurled and fluttered open.

Also at this moment, a term slowly appeared on the attribute panel, which had remained quiet for a long time.

[Unnamed Pill Technique Beginner 1/100]

Luo Chen, as if drained of all strength, slumped to the ground, looking at the white lotus, a broad smile on his face.

”Let’s call it the Returning Dust Technique!”

Dust returns to dust, earth to earth, by performing this technique, one can perceive the essence hidden beneath the splendor.
