Immortality begins with Becoming an Alchemy Grandmaster

”Junior Brother Qu, aren’t you going to see your father?”

At the halfway point of Qing Mountain, a few figures stood together, gazing at the courtyard where the Sect Master handled daily affairs.

Two silhouettes walked into the distance side by side.

Yuan Yijun looked at Qu Jiu with confusion. The latter was staring into the distance, lips tightly pressed together, his facial muscles forming sharp lines.

Qu Jiu spat out two words coldly.

”Not seeing!”

Yuan Yijun was puzzled. It was his own father, after all; why the need for such a complete severance?

For the role of ”father,” she harbored deep admiration from her heart.

Her mother had passed early when she was young, and it was her father, Yuan Dongsheng, who had painstakingly raised her with utmost affection.

Even though Yuan Dongsheng had been gone for many years, she often reminisced about her father’s broad shoulders.

Thus, she could not understand why Junior Brother Qu’s father had returned, yet he was unwilling to meet him.

Could it be because of the woman who returned with Qu Lingjun?

...

As they approached, Qu Lingjun paused slightly and turned to the woman, saying, ”Qin’er, please wait for me here.”

With a nod full of encouragement, Meng Qin’er said, ”Relax, since your master has taken the initiative to let you return to the sect, it means past matters are forgiven.”

Qu Lingjun smiled; he thought the same way.

Just as he was about to enter, a tall figure emerged from the house.

Qu Lingjun’s eyes brightened, ”Yilong!”

Zeng Yilong was first startled, then broke into a joyful smile, grabbing Qu Lingjun’s arm.

”Senior Brother, you finally returned!”

Qu Lingjun laughed, ”Yes, I’m back. If you lack any elixirs in the future, feel free to come to the Alchemy Institute to find me.”

Upon hearing the words ”Alchemy Institute,” Zeng Yilong’s expression turned somewhat unusual.

Qu Lingjun did not notice and curiously asked, ”Where are you heading?”

Zeng Yilong coughed lightly and pointed towards the halfway point of the mountain.

”The Sect Master assigned me a task to collect a batch of talisman paper from the Supreme Elder of Shen Fu Sect. Additionally, I’m taking the juniors to broaden their horizons.”

”These juniors in our sect have already experienced the world through battles...”

Qu Lingjun was smiling as he spoke, but as he followed Zeng Yilong’s indicated direction, he vaguely saw a gloomy, stern face.

It bore a six or seven-point resemblance to him.

The remaining three points bore a striking resemblance to a face from his memory.

”It’s little Jiu!”

His own son, even if they hadn’t spent many days together, would never be unfamiliar.

”Yilong, please take care of Qu Jiu for me.”

Zeng Yilong thumped his sturdy chest, ”No need for Senior Brother to instruct me; it’s my duty. I’ll head off first; we’ll catch up when I return!”

”Yes, we’ll catch up when you return!”

Qu Lingjun smiled faintly, but as he followed Zeng Yilong towards the halfway point, Qu Jiu only glanced coldly at him, devoid of warmth.

Qu Lingjun’s smile gradually faded, yet he wasn’t the slightest bit angry at the other party’s indifference.

Qu Jiu was his and Mi Li’s son; even his name was derived from Qu Mi turning into wine.

Yet, he abandoned his wife and child to join Fenghua Palace in those years and didn’t fulfill his duties as a father. It was only natural for the other party to resent him.

”Husband, Sect Leader Li is calling you.”

A gentle female voice sounded from behind.

Qu Lingjun sighed, lifted his robe, and walked into the house.

”Lingjun is back...”

Li Yingzhang greeted with a smile, without any trace of unfamiliarity.

Qu Lingjun also managed to smile again.

”It was time to return. At this age, I couldn’t settle elsewhere. Returning now allows me to contribute a bit to the sect. I’ve heard the sect currently lacks financial sources, but my Pill Refinement Technique has improved greatly. I can lead the Alchemy Institute to open a financial path for our Luotian Sect.”

Li Yingzhang waved his hand, ”There’s no hurry in that.”

He looked outside, ”What’s the situation with Friend Meng?”

At the mention of Meng Qin’er, Qu Lingjun’s face softened.

”She was unwilling to separate from me, so after pleading with the Great Palace Master, she returned to Luotian Sect with me. After four or fifty years, when I pass away, she’ll return to Fenghua Palace. I hope you’ll grant this request.”

Li Yingzhang realized and sighed at their deep bond as a couple.

At the same time, he couldn’t help but feel secretly pleased.

Meng Qin’er was quite gifted among the young generation of Fenghua Palace and had reached the Golden Core Period at such a young age. Now, she came to Luotian Sect with Qu Lingjun, and even though it would be only for four or fifty years, it was enough to bolster the reputation of Luotian Sect.

With Sima Wenjie gone, Luotian had only eight Golden Cores left among its nine elders.

With Meng Qin’er’s arrival, she would fill that gap nicely.

He would never refuse and immediately agreed.

Being able to keep his Dao Companion Cultivator there allowed Qu Lingjun to breathe a sigh of relief. He then curiously asked, ”Where is my master?”

Li Yingzhang replied, ”The Supreme Elder is preparing to refine the Nascent Soul Formation Pill and has been quite busy lately, probably having no time to see you.”

Qu Lingjun’s eyes lit up, ”Is Master going to refine pills? I’ve heard that the Nascent Soul Formation Pill is extremely complex to refine. Back in Qingdan Valley, the entire sect’s efforts ended in failure. It’s fortunate I’ve returned just in time; I can assist Master.”

These words were spoken quickly and anxiously, yet they exuded confidence and pride!

His Pill Refinement Technique had now reached the level of creating Third Order pills, well on par with some Qingdan Valley elders of the past.

He was confident in his ability to assist his master.

However.

”That’s not necessary. Qi Yi has already gone over to help the Supreme Elder.”

”I also...”

Qu Lingjun looked into Li Yingzhang’s eyes, which were deep and unreadable, and his words froze.

He tentatively said, ”Since Qi Yi has gone to help, the Alchemy Institute might be short-handed. I could help manage the Alchemy Institute.”

This time, he did not assume the Alchemy Institute was his domain as he previously did when he encountered Zeng Yilong.

Because he vaguely felt something was amiss.
