Immortality begins with Becoming an Alchemy Grandmaster

Chapter 1713: Chapter 630: Lu Shanjun Arrives, Severing Mortal Ties

On this day, a mass of clear clouds approached from the depths of the Hidden Dragon Mountain Range, slowly drifting closer.

On the cloud, two graceful figures stood elegantly.

The breeze swept by, causing their hair to flutter.

The one standing at the forefront wore a calm expression, seemingly indulging in the gentle mountain breeze.

Yet the woman behind her continually brushed her hair, her face appearing tranquil while her eyes darted restlessly.

”Ah Xiu, your heart is restless.” A soft voice flowed from the lips of the woman in front, Nu Guan.

Upon hearing this, Wen Xiu couldn’t help but let a bitter smile tug at her lips.

The nervousness of nearing one’s hometown—who could truly keep their heart as calm as still water?

”Master, must we be so resolute?”

Lu Shanjun spoke with a faint tone: ”Since you have entered my sect, you ought to sever worldly attachments, forsaking fame and gain. Your natural talent holds the potential to achieve Golden Core, especially after transitioning to cultivate my techniques. Originally, you should have progressed rapidly, but in these years, you’ve stagnated at the Sixth Level Foundation Establishment, unable to advance further. Before, you concealed it well, so I merely thought you faced temporary hindrance. It wasn’t until your daughter came searching for you that I finally understood the reason.”

Wen Xiu lowered her gaze and muttered softly, ”But blood ties are not so easily severed. Xiaoqing is the child I bore after ten months of pregnancy, spending my blood essence to bring her into this world. I cannot... Master, did you not fail to do so yourself back then?”

Lu Shanjun furrowed her brows.

She had indeed failed to sever those so-called worldly ties herself, waiting instead for her family to pass away, gradually forgetting those bonds through the passage of time.

At this moment, being pointed out by her disciple left her feeling particularly embarrassed.

Yet Lu Shanjun did not get angry.

She let out a soft sigh. ”It is precisely because I have lived through it that I know the miraculous effectiveness of achieving it early for cultivating the ’Book of Forgetting.’

Wen Xiu seemed utterly at a loss.

Lu Shanjun elaborated slightly, ”Unlike ordinary immortal cultivators whose practice relies heavily on resources, our sect’s techniques focus on cultivating the mind. At first, such cultivation may progress slightly slower, but once one’s mental state reaches the proper level, it will surpass the ordinary. According to the ’Book of Forgetting,’ its true wonders can only be fully realized after reaching the Nascent Soul stage.”

Is that really the case?

Wen Xiu’s heart was restless. Did not ordinary sects still permit marriage, funerals, and the like?

Were their own branch simply different in this regard?

Glancing briefly at the disheveled-haired married woman, Lu Shanjun shook her head.

”This trip, besides having you personally sever your ties with the Zhang Family, I also intend to visit an old friend. When the time comes, you shall first accompany me to Peng Island, and later return to Lotus Picking Island.”

”Understood.”

As their conversation progressed, the clear clouds had already traversed countless mountains, eventually landing on the shores of a boundless, mist-covered lake.

As soon as the cloud descended, a cultivator by the Wind-Ripple Pavilion quickly stepped forward to greet them.

Lu Shanjun’s spirit pressure radiated outward, instantly revealing her Golden Core realm cultivation, thus prompting the guardian cultivator’s respectful demeanor.

”Senior, may I ask if you are here to visit the Master of Peng Lake or the Lotus Picking Island’s Zhang Family... Madame Wen?”

The old cultivator spoke while subconsciously casting his gaze toward Wen Xiu behind, blurting out the name inadvertently.

Lu Shanjun waved her sleeve. ”Ah Xiu, you handle this!”

”Understood.”

Wen Xiu stepped forward to negotiate with the familiar old cultivator.

She had lived in Peng Lake for many years, so she thoroughly understood its customs.

Especially after explaining that Lu Shanjun was personally invited by the Master of Peng Lake, Qingyang Zi, the Wind-Ripple Pavilion cultivators immediately offered open passage.

After Lu Shanjun and Wen Xiu boarded a boat bound for Peng Island, the guarding old cultivator in the pavilion hesitated for a moment before eventually heading toward Lotus Picking Island.

On the small boat.

Lu Shanjun’s divine consciousness naturally encompassed all matters behind her, transmitting a message to Wen Xiu’s mind via divine consciousness.

”You see, such is the way of the world.”

”Back when you oversaw the Lotus Picking Island’s Zhang Family under Zhang Jiadi, you were kind, frequently bestowing favors. Even after leaving, you never treated them unjustly.”

”Yet with your sudden return, those who benefited from your kindness, after much hesitation, still chose to report it to the people on Lotus Picking Island.”

”The cooling of relationships after parting—this could not be more apt.”

”Family bonds or romantic love may be deeper, yet even they cannot endure trials. Severing them early is the proper path.”

The woman behind betrayed a pained expression, her teeth lightly biting her lip, seemingly unwilling to accept the truth.

Or perhaps she had long understood these principles.

Yet previously, she had merely sought to yield; when yielding failed, she tried to escape—until she joined Lu Shanjun’s sect under the guise of seeking the Great Dao.

But in the end, it remained an act of avoidance!

It was precisely because Lu Shanjun saw through her thoughts that she chose to bring her back to confront it all.

If the disciple could still not let go, then the master would have no qualms about departing together yet returning alone.

At some point, a gentle laugh reached Wen Xiu’s ears.

”Friend, please!”

”Qingyang Zi, you are too courteous. There was no need to come greet this humble one from afar.”

”Haha, it’s but a few extra steps—it’s hardly a distant welcome. Come, this way. I heard that you enjoy scenic views. Peng Lake also has a mountain, upon which stands a pavilion overlooking the lake, enabling an encompassing view of its splendor. Let us enjoy the scenery as we discuss matters.”

”Then this humble one shall follow your lead. Ah Xiu, you wait here for a while.”

Wen Xiu nodded, and once the two departed, she stood alone by the edge of Peng Island, her gaze fixed in a specific direction, her expression shifting repeatedly.

...

Roughly half a day later, Luo Chen and Lu Shanjun returned together.

Both bore smiles on their faces, indicating that their discussion had gone smoothly.

When Lu Shanjun landed beside Wen Xiu, she lightly smiled at Luo Chen and said, ”You may determine the specific departure time. I shall craft the necessary talismans promptly to ensure no delay to your great endeavors.”
