Immortality begins with Becoming an Alchemy Grandmaster

Chapter 1666: Chapter 613: The Natal Magic Item, Showing its Marvel for the First Time

”Congratulations, master, and best wishes, master!”

Inside the cave mansion, the Black King was sincerely flattering him.

The response he received was a curt sentence.

”Stop talking, I’m thinking!”

The Black King flicked his snake tongue, looking frustrated, and slinked into a corner. His vertical pupils occasionally glanced at Luo Chen, whose brows were furrowed in thought.

It was already a success, so why wasn’t he pleased?

Indeed, it was a success!

”This doesn’t make sense...”

Luo Chen stared at the armor plate in his hand, his expression filled with doubt, and activated it using his Qi Power.

In an instant, the blue armor plate transformed into a ray of light, enveloping Luo Chen entirely. Its patterns were ancient and elegant, resembling flowing water.

From the top of his head to the soles of his feet, his limbs and torso, even the most vulnerable areas like his eyes, were shielded by a layer of Qi barrier.

He summoned the Flowing Flame Hammer and struck himself with it.

Boom!

A muffled sound rang out, but Luo Chen remained motionless. Although the powerful shock rippled through his internal organs, his robust physique dampened almost all effects.

His gaze shifted to the Black King.

”Launch a water arrow attack at me.”

The Black King hesitated and said, ”Master, this doesn’t seem right! This subordinate wouldn’t dare to act against his superior—it would be highly disrespectful...”

”Stop with the nonsense. When I say attack, attack! Limit its power to early stage of the Third Order.”

As Luo Chen’s tone grew forceful, the Black King dared not delay further. He immediately condensed his demonic power and spat out a black water arrow.

The water arrow came with ferocious momentum, thick with demon energy. Should it touch a Foundation Establishment Cultivator, death was certain. Even an Early Stage Golden Core Cultivator would need considerable defense.

However, as the water arrow flew towards him, Luo Chen did not dodge or retreat. He merely pushed the Youlan Xuan Armor to its maximum potential.

Hiss!

A faint sound echoed, and the azure light shimmered for a moment before returning to calm.

”It indeed possesses the qualities of a defense Magic Item. Beyond the armor itself, it generates a Qi Armor. It can deflect physical attacks from the Magic Item’s solid structure while also withstanding energy attacks from cultivators’ mana and demon beasts’ demonic power.”

”In other words, I have truly succeeded in one go!”

After verifying this from two approaches, the shock in Luo Chen’s heart grew more intense.

”This doesn’t make sense!”

He had always been accustomed to failure. For him, success was typically the fruit of repeated practice and accumulated experience.

But this time, it had been so effortless!

Knowing well his own Tool Casting Technique, Luo Chen understood his capabilities clearly.

Even without hearing the Moyun Cave Lord’s evaluation of him, if he did hear it, he would have no choice but to agree.

Currently, Luo Chen’s Tool Casting Artistry merely stayed within the realm of refining Magic Tools.

The success rate was highest for lower-to-mid-grade items, achieving Ascendant Grade Magic Tools after a few failed attempts on rare occasions.

Only when crafting Magic Items did he encounter complete failure.

Even when his previous attempts to create Magic Items had failed, resulting in a few Top Grade Magic Tools, it was merely the excellence of the raw materials that preserved partial functionality.

For that, Luo Chen had lost plenty of Spirit Stones, forcing him to risk offending local Tool Casting Crafters at the Ten Thousand Immortals Gathering by selling some Magic Tools to recoup his losses.

Back then, Luo Chen realized that achieving mastery in Tool Casting would be an arduous journey.

He had analyzed time and again why this was the case.

The reasons he had concluded were as follows:

First, too little time immersed in Tool Casting Techniques. Second, a lack of mentorship from a true master, though Duan Feng had laid the groundwork for him during the early days—Duan Feng himself hadn’t reached prominent levels in Tool Casting.

Lastly, it was related to his unique style of casting.

For other Tool Casting Crafters, Earth Fire and furnace ding were indispensable. Array specialists and fire workers labored day and night, occasionally employing secret techniques and rare medicines to adjust the weapon’s refining state.

As for him? He relied solely on the Primordial Chaos Tripod—nothing more!

The critical element of flames in Tool Casting? He utilized his Prosperity and Decline True Fire with Qi Power to make things easy and convenient.

The more Luo Chen understood about himself, the lower his expectations for refining the Demon Emperor’s Metamorphosis became.

It wasn’t that he aspired to reach Tool Casting Master levels before refining the Demon Emperor’s Metamorphosis; instead, he planned to start once all six sets of Mysterious Armor reached Top Grade Magic Tool level.

Yet now, an unexpected development occurred!

In his first attempt at one of the six sets—the Youlan Xuan Armor—he directly succeeded.

”Could it be that I’m an unparalleled genius in Tool Casting? Crafting Magic Items comes naturally to me?”

Luo Chen muttered to himself but quickly dismissed this possibility.

If he were truly a genius, his prior attempts to craft offensive Lower Grade Magic Items wouldn’t have ended in failure.

He glanced at the system panel.

[Second-Order Artifact Forging Master]

Indeed, his level in Tool Casting Techniques still remained at the Second Order Level. He hadn’t yet reached the rank capable of crafting Lower Grade Magic Items.

This was the system’s assessment!

Yet now, he had indisputably refined a Lower Grade Magic Item—and not just any. It was one of the most precious defensive Magic Items, one almost never found on the market.

He succeeded, but his rank as an Artifact Forging Master had not advanced.

This meant that, per the system’s evaluation, his Tool Casting level still hadn’t reached that threshold.

”Why is this the case?”

Luo Chen drifted into deep thought.

The cave mansion grew unusually silent.

Even the normally restless Black King didn’t dare breathe loudly, afraid to disrupt Luo Chen’s contemplation.

After a while.

Luo Chen slowly lifted his gaze, letting it fall upon the large cauldron standing in the cave.

”Could it be... this?”

After much deliberation, the sole variable seemed to lie with the Primordial Chaos Tripod.

Luo Chen remembered clearly that in his previous attempts to craft Lower Grade Magic Items, he had adopted standard casting methods. Processing the ores, merging and refining, shaping using Qi Power or mold, and finally engraving the arrays—all failures occurred primarily in the merging phase and array-engraving phase.

However, the process for crafting the Youlan Xuan Armor this time had been different.
