Immortality begins with Becoming an Alchemy Grandmaster

Chapter 877: Chapter 359: Gu Caiyi’s Foundation Establishment, Chu Kui Sets Off to Accumulation Thunder Mountain

The fiery clouds stretched for thousands of miles, enveloping the sky above.

The intense heat, even from a great distance, nearly caused one’s hair to singe as if it would catch on fire.

Inside a training ground in disarray,

Chu Kui watched Luo Chen with unparalleled admiration.

“Your proficiency with the Art of Tool Command is truly profound. Is it something you learned from Dan Yangzi during the Seed Cultivator Battle?”

Luo Chen nodded.

...

“It sparked something in me. After returning, I figured it out privately by consulting the classics.”

Chu Kui admired him again, “Not bad at all, your prowess is no less than Dan Yangzi’s. It seems your understanding of techniques is indeed well-deserved!”

Luo Chen furrowed his brows.

“Is that all? Didn’t you say that your sparring services also included pointing out weaknesses and finding directions to strengthen?”

“I cannot believe that I’ve perfected this technique upon my first learning of it.”

Chu Kui laughed heartily.

Then, his expression became a bit more serious.

Looking at Luo Chen, Chu Kui sincerely said, “Your methods are strong. I can tell you’ve held back a great deal. Under full power, ordinary Great Cultivators might not even be your match.”

Luo Chen didn’t hide it and nodded directly.

But it was merely a sparring session. How could he possibly use all his trump cards or exert his full strength?

In that previous training session, he had only used about thirty percent of his power at most.

“However!”

Chu Kui’s tone shifted as he looked at Luo Chen with slightly furrowed brows, “I’ve discovered a weakness in you!”

“Oh?”

“Or rather, it’s not a weakness, it’s that you’re not utilizing your strengths.”

“Explain in detail!” Luo Chen listened intently, without any hint of annoyance.

Chu Kui pointed at the remnants of Fire Spirit Energy left on the training ground.

“Your pursuit of mighty explosive power in Fire Series Techniques has indeed placed you at the pinnacle of your order, but your true strength does not lie in Fire Type.”

“From what I observe, your Spirit Power is primarily Wood Type.”

“With techniques of the same Quality Rank, if you were to use Wood Type Techniques against an opponent, the power unleashed could be several times stronger than that of other types!”

“Your approach, from the Qi Refinement Stage, has been misguided.”

After hearing this,

Luo Chen, who had previously been somewhat unconvinced, now felt a heaviness in his heart.

Indeed!

Just as Chu Kui had said, all along his journey, the Cultivation Techniques he had primarily practiced were based on the Wood Type.

“Longevity Technique”

“Yi Mu Medicine King Sutra”

“Evergreen Sutra”

He progressed step by step to perfection, creating his thick and exceedingly pure Wood Spirit Power.

But in everyday combat, the various methods he employed were actually focused on the Fire Series.

Fireball Technique, Fierce Sun Technique, Mountain Collapse.

Even the Magic Item he primarily cultivated was the Xuanhuo Sword!

To others, his path seemed quite abnormal.

Occasionally, Luo Chen would question himself, but he felt that there was nothing improper about using Fire Type Techniques, and they were indeed powerful.

Thus, he continued to overlook this matter.

Now, with Chu Kui pointing out this oversight so clearly, he found himself momentarily at a loss for a good solution.

“Brother Chu, do you have any suggestions?” Luo Chen earnestly inquired.

Chu Kui didn’t hold back and spoke frankly, “Either you work on supplementing your Wood Type Techniques, or you switch to cultivating Fire Type or both Wood and Fire Type Cultivation Techniques.”

After hearing this, Luo Chen fell into deep thought.

The former was actually not difficult.

He knew quite a few Wood Type Techniques.

Entanglement Technique, Healing Technique, Spring Breeze Into Rain, and the recently learned Flower Fairy.

However, these Techniques lacked significant offensive power in battle.

More so, they were primarily assistive in nature.

Ah, the assistive effects, when combined with pure Wood Spirit Power, were indeed exceptional!

But to complete the offensive aspect of Wood Type Techniques…

Wood Type was not renowned for its offensive capabilities to begin with!

As for the latter suggestion, that was even less likely.

After painstaking efforts to extrapolate the “Evergreen Sutra” to the Grandmaster level, how could he easily switch his Natal Qi Technique?

If that were the case, then what was the point in continuing on The Great Dao Path?

At that moment, it seemed there was no solution to the current predicament.

Chu Kui patted Luo Chen on the shoulder, “Of course, you don’t have to think too much about it. At least with your current capabilities, you’re definitely unmatched among your peers. Sometimes, instead of compensating for weaknesses, it’s better to strengthen your advantages.”

“As long as your Fire Techniques are overwhelmingly powerful, a few imperfections don’t amount to much.”

“Furthermore, most Foundation Establishment Cultivators rely on external items in battle. Techniques and such aren’t that important in reality.”

Luo Chen hummed in acknowledgment.

He thanked him for the advice.

If he had gone down the wrong path, then so be it. Forcing a correction would only waste a lot of energy and time.

On his journey, there weren’t many things that allowed for his selection.

He could only do his best within the scope of his capabilities.

Moreover, if he could practice the Art of Tool Command to unparalleled proficiency,

then later, in combination with the Magical Treasure Xuan Fire Sword, and while casting Fire Type Techniques,

while he didn’t dare claim to be invincible among his peers, facing any Foundation Establishment True Cultivator, he would have the power to defend himself!

After all, his Fire Type Techniques lacked only the amplification in terms of Spirit Power.

But as for power, they were in no way inferior to those of Fire Series Cultivators, and might even surpass them!

After setting the next training session with Chu Kui, Luo Chen returned home.

Now that Gu Caiyi’s injuries were healed, and he had a preliminary grasp on the damaged Magic Item, the Ghost God Heart Asking Mirror,

he suddenly found himself with a lot of free time aside from Pill Refinement and Cultivation.

Luo Chen decided to use all the extra time to strengthen his combat capabilities.

After several simulations,

he found that the extent and scope of the internal battles at Yu Ding were broadening.

He had to strive to become as strong as possible for the potentially more chaotic future.
