Facing an Ancient God for a Year

“You don’t need to come over for now, wait over there until I notify you.”

The news brought by Fu Qian was clearly not good.

Lanaia’s emotions became even heavier for a moment before she gave an instruction after a long silence.

It seems there’s no progress with the tracking over there!

Fu Qian thought to himself silently.

Investigating student information wouldn’t face too much resistance, but given the large number of people, it was impossible to be too quick, so Fu Qian decided to go back and rest first.

...Speaking of which, this Sword Intent is simply a bug, just a basic understanding can enable a low-level Transcendent to possess strength transcending their tier, even clearing obstacles on the Demigod Path.

The perfect Child of Destiny template, Fu Qian now fully understood the reason for Swordsmanship Department’s prosperity.

Although by proportion the odds aren’t very high, no one hates winning the lottery, especially when routine cultivation isn’t bad either.

…

Two hours later, Fu Qian received notification from Lanaia.

“I asked someone from the Swordsmanship Department, and checked the information of all the students.”

The head of the Punishment Department spoke quickly from the other side.

“With so many people, it’s quite difficult to keep track of their movements. Considering that the Sword Pavilion is open, I had them check the entry and exit records of the Sword Pavilion.

Now, it seems that a student named Ruan Shuo is somewhat suspicious, as he left the Sword Pavilion much earlier today.”

Next, I need you to confirm two things, one is whether he is currently at the Academy, and the second is to check if there are any suspicious Transcendent materials at his residence.”

“Transcendent materials don’t mean much, right? If I were him, I wouldn’t possibly bring so much stuff back. It would work to just dig a hole nearby and bury it.”

Fu Qian said directly.

“Of course I know that… but right now, the Swordsmanship Department has a lot of complaints against us. It would be best if we could find some evidence.”

“In fact, this time you can’t even act alone. The Swordsmanship Department has requested to participate in the investigation, and someone should be coming to find you shortly.”

“I understand.”

Fu Qian wasn’t surprised by this at all. With the situation having developed to this point, no matter the reason, the Swordsmanship Department would definitely want to take control.

“That’s the basic situation, contact me anytime if you have questions.”

Lanaia sighed from the other end.

“I hope your suspicion is wrong…”

…

As it turned out, the people from the Swordsmanship Department arrived very quickly.

Less than half an hour after Lanaia finished explaining, there was a knock on the door.

“Come in.”

Fu Qian answered, and the door was slowly pushed open, and a man walked in.

The newcomer was about forty years old and not wearing the iconic uniform of the Swordsmanship Department. Instead, he wore a well-tailored smoke-gray overcoat, complemented by meticulously groomed hair, giving off a serene yet sharp vibe.

Only, the “overcoat brother” seemed to wear a somewhat displeased expression.

“Professor Fu Qian? I am Jian Jingzheng from the Swordsmanship Department.”

The overcoat brother sized up Fu Qian from top to bottom.

“I heard that one of our students is suspected of committing a murder outside, and I’ve come to assist in the investigation.”

“Alright, just remember to follow my commands later.”

Fu Qian said nonchalantly, unfazed by the man’s attitude.

…

Jian Jingzheng’s eyelid twitched.

“There’s no time to lose, let’s set off now. The air here at Heaven’s Commencement Institute is indeed rather refreshing.”

The man exaggeratedly took a deep breath.

You don’t understand, this is the stench of Demigod!

Fu Qian glanced at him, aware that the Swordsmanship Department had always looked down upon Heaven’s Commencement Institute.

If he remembered correctly, the man had even disdainfully dusted off his clothes upon entering.

Lead by Jian Jingzheng, Fu Qian returned to the Swordsmanship Department area and headed straight for the student residence area.

Although the Sword Pavilion had closed, there were still not many people outside.

Most of the students were either resting or digesting the insights gained from today.

“Better be quick, I do not wish to disturb the students’ rest, though it seems Professor Fu quite enjoys disturbances…”

That’s quite a pointed remark, is it because of Ji Liushuang’s affair?

This is not surprising, with so many onlookers before, it wouldn’t be odd for a gossipy instructor to be in the know.

And clearly, this one holds a considerable bias against Heaven’s Commence Institute.

Even on the way here, he spent most of the time eyeing my face.

As everyone knows, many of the research fanatics at Heaven’s Commence Institute like to experiment on their own bodies, leading to a large number with unconventional appearances.

And my excessively young face easily leads to speculation about unconventional practices.

“Rest assured, I am very efficient.”

Fu Qian smiled mysteriously, indicating to Jian Jingzheng to go knock on the door.

Jian Jingzheng clearly resented being ordered around by Fu Qian, but unfortunately, he had no reason to refuse and approached Ruan Shuo’s door with a poker face.

The door opened almost immediately, and a sunny-looking young man poked his head out, surprised to see Jian Jingzheng.

“Professor Jian, do you need me for something?”

“Not me, but Professor Fu does.”

Jian Jingzheng glanced at Fu Qian and walked straight into the room.

Ruan Shuo, looking puzzled, watched them come in, and Fu Qian also entered.

“Ruan, it seems you haven’t been very diligent today!”

After sitting down, Fu Qian watched Ruan Shuo with a smile.

“You mean—”

Ruan Shuo was initially baffled, then suddenly understood.

“You’re referring to me leaving early, right?”

“Speaking of that, I’ve been feeling upset about it.”

“This is my third year entering the Sword Pavilion, and I planned to give it my all, but I soon felt distracted and unable to concentrate.

Forcing myself to settle down even caused some turmoil in my qi and blood, and eventually, I had no choice but to leave early.”

Ruan Shuo looked frustrated.

“I came back to rest for a while, and only then did I start to feel a bit better.”

“There’s no need to be upset, what you did was right.”

After hearing Ruan Shuo’s explanation, Jian Jingzheng said directly.

“When immersing in the Sword Dao, one must avoid impatience and agitation, or you’ll harm both body and spirit. It’s reasonable to take a break when necessary.”

After he finished speaking, he turned his head to look at Fu Qian, the corners of his mouth curling up slightly.

“Professor Fu, would you like to search for Transcendent materials?”

The guy was obviously trying to tease him.

Fu Qian glanced around.

Ruan Shuo’s room was not large, and the arrangement was quite ordinary.

At first glance, the chance of hiding two warehouses’ worth of materials was virtually zero.

“Sure, check carefully and don’t overlook any corner.”

Fu Qian waved his hand, signaling Jian Jingzheng to take a look around.

…

Seeing Fu Qian taking advantage of the situation to order him around again, Jian Jingzheng couldn’t help feeling a surge of anger.

“Professor Jian, I don’t understand…”

Ruan Shuo looked innocently puzzled on the side.

“What’s there not to understand.”

Jian Jingzheng snorted coldly.

“Professor Fu suspects you of raiding two warehouses and killing the guards and has come to have you assist with the investigation.”

Ignoring Ruan Shuo, who was petrified after hearing this, he turned to look at Fu Qian again.

“Professor Fu, I think the situation is quite clear now? Should we go report to Lanaia?”

“It’s about time.”

Fu Qian looked at Ruan Shuo with a smile and pinched his fingers.

“Ruan, are you ready to die?”

“What are you trying to do—”

Completely unexpected by Jian Jingzheng, the palpable killing intent from Fu Qian made him stand up instinctively.

However, before he could finish his query, his body shook and he was flung out of the room.
