Reborn in Football to Build Top Clubs from English League Two

217: Another fight with Wenger! Three wins over the Gunners! In the twenty-eighth minute, the scales of the game began to tip. Arshavin received a pass on the right wing and, facing Robson’s defense, the Russian displayed exquisite skill.

With two consecutive feints, Arshavin broke free from the defense, cut inside, and shot. The ball, like a cannonball, flew straight into the bottom right corner of the goal, leaving Schmeichel with no reaction.

1-0! Arsenal took the lead!

After scoring, Arshavin spread his arms wide, reveling in the cheers of the Gunners’ fans. Wenger nodded from the sidelines; this was exactly the start he had hoped for.

The conceded goal did not rattle Hartlepool United. They continued to execute their established tactics, constantly moving and pressing to wear down their opponents’ stamina. De Bruyne, in midfield, displayed a calmness beyond his years, with every pass seeking an opportunity.

Before the end of the first half, Coutinho almost equalized for his team. The Brazilian youngster’s turn and shot in the box grazed the post, causing countless Hartlepool fans to bury their heads in their hands in despair.

At halftime, Old John paced back and forth in the locker room. The players’ expressions were somewhat heavy, the pressure of being one goal down clearly visible.

Lin Feng’s message came again, every word a pearl of wisdom: ”Arsenal’s defense will lose focus under sustained high pressure. In the second half, increase the intensity of your pressing; overwhelm them with your stamina.”

This message was circulated to every player. Vardy clenched his fists, Henderson took a deep breath. They knew the real contest had only just begun.

The second half restarted, and Hartlepool United displayed a completely different spirit. Their pressing was more aggressive, their running more frantic. Whenever an Arsenal player got the ball, two or three blue and white shirts would swarm around him.

This high-intensity pressure caused Arsenal to start making mistakes. Fabregas’s passes were no longer as precise, and Van Persie found it difficult to get comfortable shooting opportunities. Wenger frowned on the sidelines, realizing the situation was subtly changing.

In the sixtieth minute, a turning point arrived. De Bruyne successfully intercepted the ball in midfield and immediately launched a quick counterattack. His through ball found the overlapping Vardy, and the England striker engaged in a speed duel with Djourou.

Djourou, as an experienced center-back, knew he couldn’t match Vardy’s speed. In desperation, he opted for a tactical foul, pulling down the breaking Vardy from behind.

The referee unhesitatingly pulled out a red card! Djourou was sent off directly!

Arsenal was instantly reduced to ten men. Wenger angrily waved his hands on the sidelines, but he could not change the established fact.

Hartlepool United, with a man advantage, began to push forward en masse. They attacked Arsenal’s defense like a tide, every offensive move carrying a strong purpose.

In the seventy-fifth minute, Sigurdsson got a shooting opportunity outside the box. The Icelander’s right foot was as precise as a fine instrument, and the ball flew towards the goal like a cannonball.

Almunia made a save, but the ball’s power was too great. The goalkeeper fumbled, and the ball bounced into the penalty area. Maloney pounced on the ball like a leopard, scoring with a follow-up shot!

1-1! Equalizer!

Victoria Park erupted completely! Maloney ran towards the stands, spreading his arms wide to embrace the fans’ jubilation. This goal not only equalized the score but, more importantly, reignited the team’s fighting spirit.

As the match entered its final stages, both teams sought a winning opportunity. Although Arsenal were a man down, they still showed tenacious fighting spirit. Van Persie had several shooting opportunities, all heroically saved by Schmeichel.

In the ninetieth minute, the match was about to enter injury time. Just when everyone thought the game would go into extra time, Hartlepool United launched one last attack.

De Bruyne took the corner kick; he chose not to send it directly into the box but opted for a tactical corner. Henderson instinctively ran to the corner flag to receive it.

After a simple one-two, De Bruyne suddenly drove to the byline and crossed. The ball arced beautifully, finding Nelson precisely at the far post.

The captain leaped high, heading the ball with all his might! The ball, like an arrow from a bow, flew into the top corner of the net!

2-1! The winner! Nelson scored the winner!

The entire Wembley Stadium was instantly submerged in a sea of blue and white! The players rushed wildly towards Nelson, lifting the meritorious captain high. The Hartlepool fans in the stands went into complete frenzy, everyone celebrating this incredible comeback.

When the final whistle blew, Hartlepool United once again defeated Arsenal in the final moments! They achieved a season ’treble’ against the Gunners! They historically advanced to the FA Cup Final!

Wenger stood on the sidelines, his face etched with reluctance. Three encounters, three defeats—this was a huge blow to any coach. But he still walked towards Old John, and the two shook hands.

”Congratulations,” Wenger’s voice was somewhat bitter, but he still maintained his gentlemanly demeanor. ”You deserve this victory.”

In the locker room, cheers erupted one after another. Players embraced each other, their eyes filled with tears. From the League Cup to the FA Cup, they were just one step away from their dream of a ”double.”

The subsequent League matches became a training ground. On April 21st, they easily defeated West Bromwich Albion 3-0 away. De Bruyne, Coutinho, and substitute Mane all scored, as the young players showcased astonishing talent in garbage time.

On April 25th, they won 2-0 at home against Bristol City. This match held special significance—it was the farewell game for Victoria Park.

Before the match, Lin Feng fulfilled his promise, holding a grand farewell ceremony for the stadium that held so many memories. Old fans, with tears in their eyes, had witnessed the team’s entire journey from League Two to the Championship.

”Thank you, old friend,” a white-haired elder gently stroked the stadium railing, his eyes full of reluctance. Sixty years of his youth were here, all his beautiful football memories.

On April 28th, in the final League match, they secured a narrow 1-0 home victory against Charlton Athletic. Vardy’s penalty sealed the win for the team, and it was also the last goal in Victoria Park’s history.

After the match, all the players and fans sang the team anthem together. The song echoed in the night sky, carrying reluctance, anticipation, and even more, infinite aspirations for the future.

”The Northern Dragon Arena is waiting for us,” Nelson stood in the center of the pitch, looking around at the home ground they were about to bid farewell to. A new stadium meant a new beginning, and it also meant greater challenges.

Now, the entire team’s focus turned to the ultimate battle of the season—the FA Cup Final. Their opponents were Chelsea, whom they had eliminated in the quarter-finals. The Blues craved revenge, while Hartlepool United would make their final push for the dream of a ”double.”

London, Chelsea training ground. Mourinho stood in front of the tactics board, his gaze as sharp as a knife. His team had just been eliminated in the Champions League semi-finals, making the FA Cup their last chance for redemption this season.

”Gentlemen, we will not stumble in the same place twice,” Captain Terry’s voice echoed in the locker room, every word filled with determination. ”At Wembley, we will end their unrealistic fantasies with a Championship trophy.”

This statement quickly reached the media, becoming the hottest topic before the final. Everyone was looking forward to this ultimate showdown of revenge and dreams.

Hartlepool United, from a League Two team to the FA Cup Final, their journey was already legendary enough. But the legend was not over; the most exciting chapters were yet to come.

Wembley Stadium was once again waiting for them, the glory of the FA Cup calling to them. This time, they would face the Chelsea Blues, who were bent on revenge.

The outcome was uncertain, but one thing was for sure—this would be an epic showdown that would go down in history.
