I Can Transfer the Side Effects of Evil Skills

He knew that once Gongsun Jinghong and Teng County were away on a mission, he would most likely face threats from the Purple Cloud Association again.

Fortunately, since Zou Feng had dared to confront the Purple Cloud Association so directly, it meant he wasn’t completely without a plan.

With this in mind, he immediately took out his Token to contact Leng Jing, formerly of the Rakshasa Sect in the Great Yan Dynasty.

To be fair, Zou Feng and Leng Jing’s relationship had been pretty good ever since they teamed up to track down Yuchi Jue of the Ten Directions Sect.

Moreover, he had saved Leng Jing’s life in the Glazed Immortal Palace.

Zou Feng clearly remembered that when they left the Glazed Immortal Palace and met disciples from the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect, Leng Jing had asked about an ancestor from his Rakshasa Sect who was currently doing quite well in the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect.

It seemed she had already become a Core Disciple long ago.

Leng Jing had even boasted to him at the time that this ancestor from the Rakshasa Sect was, by his count, his great-great-great-great-grandmother.

They were actual blood relatives.

Because of this connection, Leng Jing had guaranteed that if Zou Feng ever ran into trouble after joining the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect, he should feel free to find him.

Of course, Zou Feng knew that even though he had saved Leng Jing’s life, it didn’t guarantee the man would actually repay the favor.

But slightly adjusting the job assignments of two Outer Disciples, Gongsun Jinghong and Teng County, shouldn’t be a big deal.

So, it was completely worth a try. If the guy made excuses, he would just find another way.

After sending Leng Jing a message with his Token, he waited for a full hour without receiving a reply.

Just as Zou Feng was starting to think the guy really was going to turn his back on him, a reply finally appeared on the Token.

”Younger Brother Zou, my apologies! I was just incredibly busy!”

Zou Feng played along and asked, ”Brother Leng, were you busy cultivating a new Daoist Art?”

”I wish I could focus on Cultivation, but lately... my ancestor was just promoted to True Disciple, so haven’t I been busy running errands for her celebratory banquet?”

’Promoted to True Disciple?’

Leng Jing’s words might have sounded like a complaint, but the intent to show off couldn’t have been more obvious.

His ancestor becoming a True Disciple meant that he had now latched onto an incredibly powerful backer within the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect.

Of course, just how much this ancestor valued Leng Jing, her distant, distant, distant, distant grandson, was another matter entirely.

But the family tie was there, and as long as the ancestor acknowledged it, that was enough.

”Congratulations! In that case, I won’t beat around the bush. I’m bothering you this time, Brother Leng, because there’s a small matter I need your help with.”

”Younger Brother Zou, please, speak freely. You saved my life in the Glazed Immortal Palace. As long as it’s something within my power, I will definitely do everything I can!”

Leng Jing had made such a straightforward promise for two reasons.

First, with his ancestor’s promotion to True Disciple, the casual reward she had given him, her grandson, was a full three hundred points of Immortal Fate. This gave Leng Jing the confidence and resources to offer help to others.

Second, Leng Jing was very optimistic about Zou Feng’s prospects. He believed that even in a place like the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect, it wouldn’t be long before Zou Feng himself became a powerful backer worth clinging to.

Zou Feng immediately told Leng Jing about the trouble he was facing.

Leng Jing pondered for a moment before replying, ”The True Disciple backing the Purple Cloud Association is quite a character. And as it happens, I’ve heard my ancestor holds some old grudges against that particular True Disciple...”

”But my ancestor was just promoted to True Disciple, after all. It’s impossible for her to get involved in this directly.”

”To be honest, Younger Brother, even though I’m her grandson, I’ve been here for days and have only seen her twice and exchanged three sentences with her...”

Hearing this, Zou Feng thought Leng Jing was politely refusing him, but then his tone suddenly shifted. ”So, Younger Brother Zou, resolving your feud with the Purple Cloud Association is definitely a no-go. But arranging the missions for those two beauties of yours shouldn’t be a problem!”

”In that case, many thanks, Brother Leng!”

”What’s the need for thanks between us? I’ll go arrange it right now, before the Purple Cloud Association has a chance to pull any tricks.”

Leng Jing was very thorough, understanding clearly that this matter had to be handled quickly, striking before the Purple Cloud Association could make a move.

”By the way, Younger Brother Zou, I suggest that if you get the chance, you should try to compete for a spot on the Outer Sect’s potential rankings.”

”Compete for a ranking?” To be honest, Zou Feng hadn’t been very interested in that potential ranking list.

After all, he didn’t plan on staying in the Outer Sect for long. Why compete for empty fame and risk attracting unwanted attention?

But Leng Jing was sincere in his advice. ”That’s right. My ancestor was just promoted and is in need of people. She would be more than happy to invest in a talented genius like you.”

”Of course, the prerequisite is that you have to display that potential first.”

The True Disciples of the Pinnacle Celestial Immortal Sect all establish their own factions.

True Disciples occasionally get missions where they have to lead a team alone to conquer an Outer Realm or explore an unknown one.

In such cases, they naturally need a group of trusted and capable confidants by their side.

Therefore, it was exceedingly common for True Disciples to show goodwill and invest in potential disciples ahead of time.

Of course, out of a hundred such investments, there might not even be one success.

But if just one paid off, it was like casually tossing out a small benefit in exchange for a jackpot-like return.

After hearing Leng Jing’s explanation, Zou Feng agreed, ”Alright. If I get the chance, I’ll give it a try.”

”Good. I won’t chat any longer, then. I’m heading to your Taian Mountain’s Foreign Affairs Hall right now!”

After putting away the Token, Zou Feng felt that the matter was mostly settled.

As long as the Purple Cloud Association hadn’t already made a move, Leng Jing going to the Taian Mountain Foreign Affairs Hall to arrange Gongsun Jinghong and Teng County’s next missions was a near certainty.
