I Can Transfer the Side Effects of Evil Skills

Chapter 189: Chapter 153: The Day of the Thunderstorm

Even though their pursuers had circled back for a surprise check, Zou Feng still had no intention of coming out.

He and Tian Yun were both powerful Martial Artists, so soaking in a mud pit for an entire night wasn’t a major issue.

At most, the stench was awful, and the sticky feeling all over their bodies was deeply uncomfortable.

But to be on the safe side, this was a hardship they had to endure.

Those four were most likely disciples from Biyou Palace. The one they called Brother Duan, in particular, gave Zou Feng the impression that he was even a cut above Shen Xuan of the Celestial Essence Sword Sect.

’That guy is either at the Peak of Sixth Grade, or... he could even be a Fifth Grade Expert.’

Zou Feng had some understanding of the Sixth Grade, but as for what a Fifth Grade Martial Artist was truly like, or where their true strength lay, he had no idea.

’Of course, that’s just a worst-case estimate. Brother Duan isn’t necessarily a Fifth Grade.’

Besides, even if they left the mud pit now and weren’t discovered by the Biyou Palace disciples, traveling through Qifeng Mountain at night was not a good idea.

Therefore, it was best to hide like this until dawn, then wait for the right moment to make a move.

So, Zou Feng leaned in and whispered his plan into Tian Yun’s ear.

Tian Yun naturally had no objections and immediately agreed.

The two of them continued to lay low in the mud pit.

During this time, what left Zou Feng somewhat speechless was that Tian Yun refused to take her hand out. Perhaps growing bored from hiding, she would even play with it from time to time.

Zou Feng was quite uncomfortable with this at first, but after a while, he got used to it and just let Tian Yun have her way.

Zou Feng’s caution paid off once again just before the break of dawn.

One of the four from before zipped past nearby, his body radiating a murderous aura. He had likely just fought a powerful Demon Beast.

’Seeing a Biyou Palace disciple now means they’re still lingering in the area. They haven’t chased off to some distant place.’

Seeing this, Zou Feng and Tian Yun exchanged a glance, then silently continued to lie in wait.

It wasn’t until nearly Noon the next day that the two of them, looking slightly exhausted, finally climbed out of the mud pit.

After such a tense night and morning, compounded by the unbearable stench from soaking in the mud, neither of them was in the mood for a ”big battle” for the time being.

The most urgent task now was to escape Qifeng Mountain.

Or at the very least, get out of the deep parts of Qifeng Mountain and reach the outer edges.

As for the Hunting Team, they had probably already shaken off the other Demon Apes and escaped the depths of Qifeng Mountain.

However, despite his desperation to escape, after sprinting wildly with Tian Yun along their original path for more than an hour, Zou Feng realized they had a very serious problem.

The surrounding scenery looked less and less familiar. They were lost!

Yesterday, he had been chased to this spot by the Ape King.

The Ape King would periodically Burst with speed and charge to block his path. In his haste to dodge, Zou Feng had often run frantically without paying attention to his route.

As a result, he had no idea where in Qifeng Mountain he had actually ended up.

He had tried to retrace their steps by following the tracks they’d left, but after an entire night, many of them had become faint and indistinct.

Furthermore, the Biyou Palace disciples had fought several Demon Beasts in the vicinity last night, leaving signs of man-made destruction in many places.

And so, as Zou Feng ran on, he found himself unable to get his bearings, and the scenery grew increasingly unfamiliar.

”Master Tian, I think we took a wrong turn,” Zou Feng said, stopping and knitting his brows.

Tian Yun paused for a moment before replying, ”I saw you taking the lead, so I thought you knew the way...”

Zou Feng gave a wry smile. ”This Qifeng Mountain is a strange place. You can’t rely on ordinary methods to get your bearings; they just don’t work here. I even suspect Biyou Palace might have set up Illusion Arrays in several locations...”

This wasn’t a wild guess. Since Biyou Palace was raising their Cultivation Gu in the depths of Qifeng Mountain, it would make sense for them to set up things like Illusion Arrays to prevent the Gu Poison from wandering off and causing unforeseen complications.

The fact that those crimson-furred Demon Beasts had never appeared on the outskirts of Qifeng Mountain before was likely due to such measures.

Confirming that they were lost and that escaping Qifeng Mountain was now more difficult than ever, Zou Feng’s expression turned into a troubled frown.

Tian Yun, on the other hand, had originally intended to stay in the depths of Qifeng Mountain for the thrill of it, so she quickly accepted their new predicament.

”Well, in that case, let’s find a water source and wash up. We can’t just let this mud stay caked on us,” Tian Yun suggested.

”You’re right!”

The problem was immense, but panicking was pointless.

Zou Feng stopped dwelling on the fact they were lost and began searching for a water source instead.

Looking for a place to wash in Qifeng Mountain wasn’t as simple as rushing toward the first body of water they saw.

Stagnant pools, in particular, could be hiding powerful Demon Beasts.

Eventually, Zou Feng found a small, flowing stream. The water was crystal-clear, likely fed by a mountain spring.

After setting up a few small warning traps in the surrounding area, Zou Feng pointed to the stream and said to Tian Yun, ”So... Master Tian, after you?”

Hearing this, Tian Yun said nothing, but shot him a playful, reproachful glare.

Zou Feng immediately took the hint. His words had clearly been too formal.

After their intimacy in the mud pit last night, they had forged a bond that went beyond life and death.

Zou Feng coughed, then stepped forward, took Tian Yun’s right hand, and said, ”Why don’t we wash together, then? Allow me to get undressed first, as a show of respect!”

In reality, ever since his shirt had been destroyed in his fight with Wu Xing, Zou Feng hadn’t had a chance to find a new one. He had been wearing nothing but his trousers this entire time.
