Chapter 2399: Chapter 2400: The Law Enforcers’ Secret

Ye Luo felt that it was time to get to the bottom of this matter.

Moreover, he sensed that things between Yu Jizi and those Law Enforcers were definitely not that simple!

After all, Law Enforcers are almost inhumane, and killing someone is the simplest thing for them.

Therefore, Ye Luo took some time and went to Yu Jizi’s tent.

At this moment, Yu Jizi was not cultivating, but tasting tea. He looked at least several decades younger, now appearing as a man in his prime, with an overwhelming aura, and his physical strength had already surpassed the Heavenly Martial Realm!

It seems that his cultivation had indeed grown rapidly over these days!

Looking at it this way, it wouldn’t take him long to reach the ancestor level in cultivation, and with his combat experience, killing an ancestor-level cultivator wouldn’t be a problem at all.

Of course, there was still a significant gap between him and his peak period.

”Ye Luo, you’re here!”

Upon seeing Ye Luo, he wasn’t surprised and immediately laughed.

Ye Luo nodded slightly and then sat down in front of him.

”Actually, I wanted to find you this morning, but seeing you were cultivating, I didn’t disturb you,” Yu Jizi said with a smile.

Ye Luo just listened quietly; he understood that Yu Jizi must have something to say to him.

”With your help, my recovery has far exceeded my expectations, reaching the Heavenly Martial Realm level, which means I have a chance to reach my peak again. Some things I can also tell you. Are you surprised why those Law Enforcers haven’t come to trouble me?”

Ye Luo’s eyelid twitched, not expecting Yu Jizi to already have guessed his purpose for coming.

”Don’t worry, the reason I’m acting so high-profile is for a reason. During that past battle, although we lost and many strong fighters fell, even our realms and strength dropped significantly, it’s not that we had no results! Back then, the reason we dropped in realm and got heavily injured wasn’t because of the Enforcers. If we had continued fighting, we could have lasted for many more days!”

Ye Luo raised his head, looking at Yu Jizi in surprise.

Indeed, that past battle was not as the rumors had it!

”Back then, seeing our chance of escape was slim, if we were completely defeated, we would all perish. Therefore, we united and used a forbidden art, sacrificing our essence blood to invoke the Heavenly Dao. If those Enforcers continued to hunt us, they would surely be punished by the Heavenly Dao! So unless we reach or surpass our previous realm, the Enforcers wouldn’t dare to act against us!”

Ye Luo understood that, though he explained it simply, involving the Heavenly Dao made things far from simple. One could imagine how fierce that past battle was.

After all, in the Holy City, there were still many experts from the first three regions who were lured here by the Enforcers! On the moral level, the Enforcers stood on shaky ground!

Even though morals didn’t hinder other cultivators, in terms of the Heavenly Dao, it was a force not to be underestimated! That’s why these Enforcers dared not make a move!

Of course, there are overall reasons Ye Luo surely wouldn’t understand. Forbidden arts transcend cultivation greatly, and with Ye Luo’s current realm, he hadn’t reached that height yet.

Still, Ye Luo felt reassured. If the Enforcers didn’t act, then there was nothing else for him to fear from others.

”Ye Luo, don’t let your guard down; the Enforcers not acting against us doesn’t mean they won’t act against you. Our actions have surely been detected by them, and perhaps they’re already plotting something. Never underestimate the Enforcers; their name is Law Enforcers because they maintain order in the Martial Realm, but in reality, they are quite selfish, only safeguarding certain factions’ interests. As for other beings in the Martial Realm, what do they care about their survival!” Yu Jizi’s tone became cold.

This statement surprised Ye Luo. He originally thought that the Law Enforcers were the strong that maintained the stability of the Martial Realm; with them, the Martial Realm could exist as it is.

But listening to Yu Jizi, it seemed not to be the case at all!

Suddenly, Ye Luo thought of some issues.

”Senior, have you heard of the Hunters?” Ye Luo suddenly asked.

Because back in the South Territory, a popular rumor was that the Hunters broke the spatial barrier of the Sixth Region! Thus, the South Territory emerged!

”Hunters? They are also a filthy race. They used to work for the Law Enforcers, like the roles of today’s Guards and Emissaries, but later they betrayed the Enforcers, breaking the spatial barrier, which led to the Enforcers suppressing them!”

Ye Luo understood, as this one’s consistent with the rumors.

And it seemed Yu Jizi held disdain for the Hunters as well.

”Then, senior, since the Law Enforcers are such people, didn’t others from different regions take action against them?”

On hearing this, Yu Jizi smiled bitterly, ”It’s not that simple at all. These Enforcers weren’t chosen randomly, but the result of a balance among various factions. Each major faction has an Enforcer among them to ensure fairness—of course, fairness for those major factions. With that, who would dare oppose? Even if they did, they’d face the major factions’ annihilation!”

Ye Luo’s expression suddenly turned strange. If that’s so, aren’t these Enforcers just the bureaucrats of the Martial Realm?

It seemed the Martial Realm had its dark side!

But Ye Luo had always been active in the lower regions and hadn’t yet touched the core interests of the Martial Realm!

However, the Sixth Region was special! Due to the spatial barriers, even the forces from the first three regions had to pay attention here.

”Senior, what should we do next?”

Though Ye Luo had plans, he still wanted to seek Yu Jizi’s opinion.

After all, Yu Jizi was most knowledgeable about the current situation.

Yet, upon hearing Ye Luo’s words, Yu Jizi shook his head.

”You don’t have to ask me this. Since we lost back then, even if it happens again, it’s still a loss. You understand what I mean, right? Do it your way; if you need me to do something, I’ll do it. Perhaps there’s a higher chance of success this way!”

Ye Luo’s eyebrows slightly raised, not expecting Yu Jizi to say this!

But after thinking it over, it indeed made a lot of sense.
