Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Hua Yun and the Golden Eagle quickly arrived at the area where the wild boars were located.

The wild boars were resting at this moment.

Although they are active all day, most wild boars are active at dawn and dusk.

This afternoon period is their rest time.

Hua Yun glanced at the boar herd and felt a surge of joy; this herd of wild boars fully met the requirements for a large group. There were quite a few mature adult boars, and even the immature ones were in their adolescent stage, with plenty of meat!

We can follow my plan and strive to catch them all in one sweep!

Hua Yun thought.

At the same time, she was also observing the boars’ lair.

In fact, wild boars do not have permanent, carefully constructed ”nests” like birds or some rodents.

Their ”nests” are more accurately called ”resting places” or ”dens.”

In such places, wild boars will not rest for long.

Generally speaking, a den may only be used for a few days or weeks before the boars will switch to a new one.

This is to evade predators, prevent parasites, and maintain hygiene.

Simultaneously, the places that wild boars prefer as dens are basically of four kinds.

The first is dense bushes or tall grass, where boars will use their bodies to flatten a patch of grass, forming a shallow pit as a temporary bed.

The second is reed ponds, where the dens are near water sources and well hidden.

The third is depressions under trees, like natural barriers formed by roots or fallen trunks.

The last one is crevices in rocks, most common in mountain environments.

This time, Hua Yun encountered the third kind.

The wild boars made their home under a somewhat decayed spruce tree.

Hua Yun glanced at the lair’s environment and, from a hunter’s intuition, knew it was tricky to attack here!

There is not much cover around, and if she wants to use the bow and arrow for maximum harm, she inevitably has to expose herself to the perception range of the boars.

In people’s minds, boars might seem a bit dumb and clumsy, but in reality, these creatures have rather keen perception abilities.

They can even detect intruders approaching the camp from far away.

Moreover, they remain alert even while resting.

Very tricky!

After thinking about this situation, Hua Yun began to inspect the paths trampled by the wild boars.

The herd of boars seems to be highly active, with very noticeable paths around.

Hua Yun also knows that autumn is the most active season for wild boars because they need to eat a lot to store fat for the winter, and autumn is also the season when acorns and other nuts ripen, so food is very abundant.

Thus, the boars’ activity frequency will greatly increase.

The paths become much easier to find.

After completing reconnaissance, Hua Yun silently left the area, heading toward the camp.

...

Meanwhile.

Fred and Roland on their side.

Each holding a bow and arrow, while the other carries an axe, they silently advance through the woods.

”Ahead should be that herd of wild boars, let’s go take a look.”

Roland, who was leading, spoke confidently.

Upon hearing this, Fred nodded slightly and followed Roland’s footsteps.

However, before going any further, the two broke pine needles and smeared the juice over themselves.

Wild boars have extremely keen senses of smell; they certainly won’t forget this detail.

Soon, they walked a bit further and found themselves in front of a large clearing in the woods.

In the northwest corner of the clearing, within a large patch of bushes, they could faintly make out the shadows of the wild boars.

Found them!

Fred glanced admiringly at Roland.

At first, he was somewhat skeptical about Roland finding them, but now it seems this former Hunter Guide hasn’t forgotten his old skills.

”What do we do now?”

Fred asked in a very low voice.

Roland thought for a moment, and also lowered his voice to say: ”If it’s simple, we go straight for them; if it’s complex, we take it slow, but it depends on the number of boars. If there aren’t many, we go with the simple approach; otherwise, it wouldn’t be worth it.”

Fred nodded.

In terms of hunting, he is no match for Roland, so he completely trusts Roland’s command.

Roland observed for a while and said: ”The numbers aren’t large, and this group is mostly composed of young boars; we can go straight for them. We’ll hunt one or two big ones and move on without wasting time!”

Upon hearing this, Fred nodded slightly.

He gripped the axe in his hand and asked: ”What should I do?”

Roland gestured: ”Go straight for them. I’ll circle around. Once I fire an arrow, you immediately act!”

The plan is simple and direct, perfectly aligning with Fred’s thinking.

Neither of them likes complicated plans, so after confirming the approach, the two commenced action.

Soon, they surrounded the herd of wild boars.

In the bushes, the wild boars lie on soft grassy beds, much like landlords with a large bunch of keys hanging around their waist, leisurely enjoying the early winter afternoon of late fall.

Unbeknownst to them, a massacre aiming at them is quietly underway!

Roland quickly took position.

The boars hidden in the bushes greatly reduce the odds of being spotted from outside, but it also makes it harder for them to see what’s happening outside.

As a result, Roland was not discovered by the boars; instead, he used this to his advantage and easily maneuvered to the boars’ blind spot and began to draw his bow.

Unlike the boars.

Roland, through the gaps in the bushes, could still lock onto their position.

Soon, amidst the boars’ leisure, Roland initiated an attack!

Whoosh!

An arrow shot forth, and while Roland’s archery might not be as masterful as Hua Yun’s, it isn’t far off.

Moreover, he has an advantage that Hua Yun doesn’t—a stronger arm!

This backup bow and arrow are slightly heavier than what Hua Yun carries. Hua Yun can use them, but Roland can draw them to a full arc!

Whoosh!

The arrow whistled, with strong wind-breaking sounds indicating the arrow’s formidable power!

The boars seemed to perceive something; they stopped their actions and listened to the surroundings.

But this giving Roland the perfect opportunity to hit!

Thud!

The arrow hit a stationary mature boar with precision, eliciting a piercing scream.

The boar herd exploded in chaos following such screams.

Like a disturbed nest, the boars fled the den in disarray, scurrying wildly in all directions.

At this moment, Roland decisively stood up, exposing himself to the boars’ sight.

The boars recoiled in shock at Roland suddenly appearing.

This scenario mirrored terrorists detonating bombs on streets in the US, where spectators fled into alleys, only to find two white-robed Middle Eastern individuals leaping out, jabbering incoherently while raising their arms.

That feeling...

Thus, upon seeing Roland, the boars decisively turned to run.

But Fred, clutching his axe, emerged!
