Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 251: Chapter 74: Generosity

Hua Yun was also quite excited.

Being able to change into a new set of clothes was simply a great comfort for her.

Women tend to care more about hygiene issues than men.

Just as the two of them were planning to get the rules and take a look at them first.

The staff looked at Chen Wen again, ”Contestant Chen Wen, your recording equipment has been broken for a long time, hasn’t it? This time, we’ve prepared an upgraded version for you, it’s shockproof, frost-resistant, has long battery life, we’re sure you’ll enjoy using it!”

The smile on Chen Wen’s face froze.

What the hell?

What nonsense?

Replaced with a more durable recording device?

Are you kidding!

Chen Wen clicked his tongue, and his expression perfectly conveyed the idea of forcing a smile.

The old recording equipment had been broken intentionally after much hassle!

It was precisely to prevent the conversation between him and the animals from being recorded by the show crew.

And now they’ve directly upgraded it.

Where can one reason about this!

While smiling, Chen Wen asked, ”Okay, okay, by the way, who suggested the idea of upgrading the equipment?”

”Oh, it was your two assistants, they were very worried about your situation.”

Well, it seems like everyone is on our own side.

Chen Wen shook his head and said no more.

Setting aside this small matter, Chen Wen and Hua Yun began looking at the rules.

The rules were quite simple: use furs and other materials to exchange for money, and then use money to purchase goods.

Among the goods you can exchange for, apart from the weapons being pretty restricted, there were hardly any restrictions on other materials.

Moreover, when exchanging materials, there’s no need to go to specific locations.

As long as you can strike up a conversation with any resident in the town, you can exchange with them.

The rules were relatively relaxed.

Hua Yun looked at the rules, quite satisfied.

She wanted to exchange for that bow, it was hefty and had greater lethality than the Recurve Bow she held.

”Any other questions?”

The staff asked.

Hua Yun glanced at Chen Wen, as she had no problems herself.

At this moment, Chen Wen asked, ”We plan to rest here for a few days, apart from the first day, do we have to pay for everything ourselves afterwards?”

”Yes.”

The staff said, ”It’s the same for everyone, we’re only responsible for the first day’s accommodation and dinner.”

It seems that getting anything for free here isn’t very realistic.

At this time, Chen Wen remembered the two deer outside.

He added, ”Since you’re in charge of accommodation and meals for the first day, could you feed my two deer as well?”

Feed the deer?

The staff was taken aback.

He wanted to ask, what do these deer have to do with us?

But Chen Wen enthusiastically shook the staff’s hand, not giving him the chance to speak, ”Accommodation surely includes us all, right? The two deer are part of our team, so I’ll thank you for them in advance!”

The staff was both amused and helpless.

Who takes advantage like this?

He intended to contact the director, but surprisingly, Director Abel agreed to Chen Wen’s request, even proactively suggesting to cover the food for the Golden Eagle and lynx.

This was quite surprising for the staff.

Seeing the director being so generous, Chen Wen praised him enthusiastically in front of the camera, even using his month-old clothes for advertisements.

The director kept me in his pocket, how could I kick him to the curb?

In the end, it was a win-win situation.

Both parties were satisfied.

Chen Wen specifically instructed the staff, ”My two deer prefer high-quality feed, make sure not to give them plain hay!”

The staff couldn’t help but chuckle and said directly, ”Don’t worry, there’s a private farm in town that feeds all kinds of deer, we’ll buy feed directly from there.”

”Very good, you have a kind heart.”

Chen Wen grinned widely.

Hua Yun also chuckled, her lips pursed, unsure of what she was thinking.

...

Having settled the accommodation and meals for the first day, Chen Wen and Hua Yun enjoyed a rare hot bath once a month.

Gotta say, although this inn was in a small town, the service was quite decent.

The bath had a tub, and the room was heated.

You could say it’s no wonder it’s the only inn in this tourist town.

The show crew prepared two rooms, and Chen Wen and Hua Yun proceeded simultaneously.

By the afternoon, Chen Wen comfortably dressed in new clothes and shaved his beard.

He felt much fresher overall.

After bathing, Hua Yun felt her cold had alleviated a bit.

Her perpetually blocked nose also cleared up.

Once they came out, they briefly discussed the afternoon’s plan.

They planned to go to the fur shop to sell the leather, first letting Hua Yun buy some cold medicine, and then stock up on some common medicines.

...

When they came downstairs.

The scene downstairs left Chen Wen and Hua Yun a bit baffled.

The previously quiet inn entrance was now surrounded by quite a crowd.

Chen Wen glanced at the innkeeper and found him focused on something.

Chen Wen went over to see, and it was the Desert Death Battle, specifically the episode he participated in.

”Hey! Chen Wen! When did you come down?”

The inkeeper was surprised and delighted upon seeing Chen Wen.

Without waiting for Chen Wen to reply, he excitedly held Chen Wen’s hand and said, ”Can we take a picture together? I’m a big fan of Desert Death Battle! I can’t believe you’re this season’s death match champion! That’s awesome!”

Chen Wen looked at the innkeeper skeptically, ”Fan? Really?”

”Of course, it’s true!”

Feeling his claim doubted, the innkeeper got anxious, ”I even know the filming locations and champions’ names for each season of Desert Death Battle!”

Saying this, he recited each season as if listing dishes, from the first season to the latest.

Now Chen Wen believed.

Just as he was about to take a selfie with the innkeeper, Hua Yun suddenly said in Chinese, ”Chen Wen, Desert Death Battle is really popular abroad, especially in North America.”

Chen Wen thought carefully and realized Hua Yun had a point!

He immediately understood Hua Yun’s implication and turned to the innkeeper, ”Boss, by the way, is there any benefit for taking a picture together?”

Benefits?

The innkeeper was a bit surprised.

Seeing this, Chen Wen quickly said, ”Think about it, I’m the champion of Desert Death Battle, and this show is quite popular, right? After our champion photo together is posted on Twitter, wouldn’t it help promote your inn?”

”I won’t ask for any advertising fee, after all, we’re friends now, but as friends, shouldn’t you?”

Chen Wen didn’t finish.

But the innkeeper understood immediately, ”Half off your room rates for these days!”

Wow, half off?

Chen Wen’s bottom line was a 20% or 30% discount, who would have thought the innkeeper would offer half off directly!

A good person indeed!

Chen Wen was deeply moved and took several photos with the innkeeper, arms crossed.

Unbeknownst to him, the innkeeper was secretly delighted.

The Desert Death Battle champion title was more valuable than Chen Wen imagined, the show’s status in North America was akin to Ed’s Man vs. Wild series’ status in Hua Country in the previous world.

It was, after Alone, the highest-valued survival competition.

Moreover, this duo participation was entirely invested by Mr. Belmont.

As one of Yukon’s premier entrepreneurs, any show Belmont invested in wouldn’t risk being banned.

It might even spark another hiking craze in Yukon.

If he could seize this opportunity and appear more often on the show.

By the next hiking season, more hikers might flock here.

About then, his hotel, which all contestants had visited, would naturally become the hikers’ first choice for rest.

Besides, Chen Wen’s team was different from the previous two.

The innkeeper had a vague feeling he might win the championship again this time!
