Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 124: Chapter 10: Martial Arts Family

Chen Wen’s actions didn’t draw much attention.

Because almost all contestants, after landing, were determining their direction and heading towards the surrounding mountains.

In desert and gobi regions.

Mountains, they signify water sources.

Whether it’s small streams flowing down from the mountains, rainwater.

Or water pits at the mountain foot, even underground hidden rivers.

They’re all rare sources of water.

The contestants participating aren’t fools, they know what’s most important in the desert.

”How’s the situation going?”

As the recording started, Jiang Chang, having finished up the handover procedures, walked into the program group’s recording hall, asking Lin Jiawei about the situation.

Lin Jiawei’s expression was a bit unusual: ”Seems like it’s fine, Chen Wen is pretty much doing as we discussed earlier, landing and heading for the mountains, searching for shelter and water sources.”

”Isn’t that pretty good?”

Jiang Chang retorted.

Lin Jiawei shook his head, thought for a long time, and found a suitable metaphor: ”You’ll see, Chen Wen gives me a feeling of... going on a picnic.”

”Picnic?”

Jiang Chang widened her eyes.

”Yes, a picnic.”

Lin Jiawei nodded firmly: ”He constantly observes his surroundings while walking.”

”If there are fruits, he’ll use a stick to knock them down, regardless of whether he can eat them, he first puts them in his backpack.”

”If there are birds, he’ll try to hit them with a stick, but he hasn’t hit any yet, seems like he’s giving up.”

”Even with the insects on the ground, he squats down to see if he can eat them, but so far he hasn’t found any edible insects.”

Listening to Lin Jiawei, Jiang Chang’s expression also turned strange.

She recalled the days of spring outings with classmates during school.

That’s how it was for city kids like her.

Walking while enjoying the scenery, hitting surrounding plants with hands, shrieking at flying insects.

Stopping out of curiosity when encountering wild fruits.

Then having them taken by the teacher with a stern warning that they’re poisonous.

”Well... in any case, it’s a good thing, Chen Wen has a great mentality, doesn’t he?”

Jiang Chang tried to find excuses for Chen Wen.

Lin Jiawei nodded: ”Indeed, also like Chen Wen mentioned before, there’s almost no Teddy Bear cactus here where he’s traveling, he can move boldly.”

”Look at contestant number nine, he’s struggling, both legs have been pricked three or four times.”

Jiang Chang glanced at contestant number nine’s screen, goosebumps rose on her skin.

He’s really in a sad state!

His calves nearly turned into hedgehogs!

Although he was the first to reach the mountain and even found drinkable water.

His condition is extremely poor.

This guy... might be the first to be eliminated.

Looking at contestant number nine in agony, Jiang Chang silently thought.

”Keep an eye, Mr. Liu just sent a message, I’ll go reply.”

...

Back in the country.

Liu Yu, after finishing a day’s work, also remembered that Chen Wen was starting the competition today.

Earlier, he didn’t call to avoid putting pressure on Chen Wen.

This time he truly learned the consequences of writing a recommendation letter personally.

Liu Yu was quite puzzled, previously he didn’t write simply because he was lazy!

But if someone asked him to, he’d write it.

It’s just that no one dared to propose this.

Writing for Chen Wen was mainly due to several vice presidents being busy in Qinling for the preliminary work of this challenge.

He felt embarrassed to bother them again.

After all, the survival challenge in Qinling was proposed by him, but it was the vice presidents tormented by the preliminary work.

Now for one recommendation letter, asking them to take time to write another.

Liu Yu felt he still had dignity.

But he really didn’t expect such a small matter to be over-interpreted to this extent by the people below!

This reminded Liu Yu of a previous joke he saw online.

Over-interpretation! —Excerpt from ”Don’t Over-interpret!”

This affair made Liu Yu quite depressed.

So, he specifically messaged at this time to ask about the situation.

Upon connecting the phone, hearing Chen Wen shining in the trash-talking segment, Liu Yu was overjoyed.

”Wow, I thought he was a serious, honest kid, turned out he’s this cheeky?”

Hearing Liu Yu’s words, Lin Jiawei was puzzled: ”Mr. Liu, is this appropriate?”

”Why not? Gina started it, we retaliated reasonably, right?”

Liu Yu laughed: ”Regarding the following targeting, honestly, Chen Wen understands better than you think.”

”Gina’s investor behind her is one of the sponsors of this program, it’s easy for them to manipulate things.”

”Moreover, Yun had a huge feud with her before, Gina was criticized for over half a year due to that event, her popularity dropped badly; revenge is inevitable, Chen Wen’s trash talk was excellent! At least he regained the momentum!”

”His choice of equipment is interesting too, completely targeting this worst location, focused on being lightweight, convenient for him to move to fertile areas for survival. Maybe he was prepared for this right after the trash talk, very thoughtful!”

”This kid can really hide! Hand-made ropes, starting a fire by friction, set after set, I hadn’t noticed before.”

”In short, rest assured, I feel he has more hidden abilities! He should be one of the finalists in this competition!”

Upon hearing this, Lin Jiawei was stunned to the point of being speechless.

He’ll be a finalist?

Is this confirming Chen Wen will make it to the top three?

Even if Hua Yun comes, Mr. Liu wouldn’t be this optimistic, would he?

Before Lin Jiawei could speak, Liu Yu laughed: ”You just keep an eye out, trust Chen Wen!”

”Okay.”

After hanging up the phone, Lin Jiawei couldn’t hide his shock.

He found Jiang Chang, couldn’t help but share these words with her.

Jiang Chang was also taken aback.

Is he really that amazing?

Looks like it’ll be worth watching closely.

...

As time passed, it’s already nearing noon.

The contestants are gradually reaching their ideal survival locations.

And now, it’s about to reach the hottest time in the Sonora Desert.

Ground temperature is conservatively estimated at forty degrees!

Some contestants already have mild heatstroke.

Fortunately, they reached the shaded foothills and barely recovered.

But... there are exceptions.

At this moment, quite a few people were standing behind Chen Wen’s monitor.

”How long has he been walking?”

Watching Chen Wen, sweating profusely, yet vigorous, someone couldn’t help but ask.

The monitor glanced at the time: ”Two and a half hours.”

Upon hearing the time, a round of awe sounded.

”Under the scorching sun, walked for two and a half hours!”

Competition staff assistant looked serious: ”Even with doping, he couldn’t reach this level, right?”

Another assistant guessed: ”Is this Chinese Martial Arts? I remember Huaxia has martial arts called Qi Gong!”

”I see!”

”Chinese Martial Arts, living up to its fame!”

”Looks like this contestant comes from a martial arts family!”

”If there’s a chance, definitely ask him for an autograph.”

Everyone seemed to realize.

But these words made Lin Jiawei and Jiang Chang’s faces turn green.

What’s with Qi Gong?!

...

As for Chen Wen, he didn’t know that those foreigners had found a reasonable explanation for his unreasonableness.

He’s now focused on walking and finding anything edible.

Along the way, Chen Wen had already gathered quite a few cactus fruits.

But the types were only Giant Saguaro Cactus and Pear Cactus.

After all, the most commonly seen edible cacti in this desert are these two.

As for other cacti, they’re almost all inedible.

They carry certain toxicity.

Eating them could lead to mild diarrhea and dizziness, severe cases might directly result in being disqualified!

Chen Wen’s [Enhanced Digestive Ability] enhances digestion, not poison resistance.

Hence he doesn’t dare to gamble.

After Chen Wen knocked down the fruit of the Pear Cactus with a stick, he said to the camera, ”Many friends might think most cacti are edible, but in fact, very few cacti can be eaten.”

”Of the cacti I’ve encountered along the way, scattered about there’s close to ten types, but only Pear Cactus and Giant Saguaro Cactus can be eaten, most cacti contain toxins.”

Speaking, Chen Wen broke open the Pear Cactus fruit he had.

After walking for so long, he finally felt a bit thirsty.

Having a bite to replenish water.
