Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Powerful Druid System

Although he got the system, Chen Wen hasn’t really studied it.

Now that the basics of survival are secured, Chen Wen decides to settle down and research it a bit.

”Looks like the system seems to be related to Druids.”

Chen Wen doesn’t know much about Druids; it seems to be related to some Western religion.

But it doesn’t seem to be very widespread, at least Chen Wen hasn’t really learned much about it.

However, Druids often appear in games and movies, mostly as images closely linked with nature.

This system is no exception.

Regarding natural creations, you can acquire attributes either through benevolent extraction or malicious plundering.

As for the attributes...

Chen Wen scratched his head, looking at the apple.

This thing... It’s considered a natural creation, right?

Instead of speculating, it’s better to try it hands-on.

He’d been busy all night and fled all morning.

Chen Wen was already thirsty and hungry, so eating an apple was just right.

Brushing off the dust from his hands, Chen Wen took an apple from the plastic bag and took a bite.

The flesh turned into slightly sour juice under the cut of his teeth, exploding in Chen Wen’s mouth.

Chen Wen squinted his eyes, chewing gently.

This might be the best-tasting apple he’s had in his life.

Two more crunchy bites.

Chen Wen closed his eyes in satisfaction.

When Chen Wen was halfway through the apple, the system finally reacted.

[Plundering the natural creation—Apple!]

[Plundering in progress... Plundering complete!]

[Please choose one among the following three attributes]

[Fear of Worms (Purple): When there are parasites in the body, obvious wounds will appear on the surface of the skin, and life will be moderately weakened]

[Note: Who tries hard? Who’s to blame? Is it the apple leaf mites being too targeted! — Apple]

[Hydrophobia (Green): When the feet are in a wet state for a long time or soaked in water for a long time, it is easier to get immersion foot disease]

[Note: I Can’t Breathe! — Apple]

[Sunshine Lover (Green): You prefer sunlight, and when sunlight is abundant, nutrient consumption slows down. Staying in sunshine for a long time has a small chance of gaining energy]

[Note: Sunshine is nice, isn’t it? But be careful of sunburn! — Apple]

[Please make a choice within a minute or give up! Failing to do so will automatically select the first attribute!]

[Attributes range from low to high as follows: White, Green, Blue, Purple, Gold]

”Whoa! So that’s what attributes mean!”

Chen Wen’s eyes widened, and he couldn’t help but take a sharp breath.

This is summarizing the characteristics of natural creations into attributes and transferring them to humans!

Moreover, the attribute’s level seems to be related to the innate characteristics of the natural creation.

Just like [Fear of Worms], apple leaf mites are called red spiders in Chen Wen’s hometown, the apple’s number one enemy!

Chen Wen’s grandfather was a fruit farmer in his past life.

Every autumn and winter, they had to take preventive measures against red spiders.

Like collecting dead branches and leaves for burning, the whole family scraping old bark, spraying pesticides, etc.

Chen Wen had a deep impression of this.

Therefore, the attribute of apple’s fear of insects shows a very high level, reaching purple.

Flooding affects apple roots, leading to poor root breathing, eventually causing root rot.

This is a phenomenon most fruit trees have, so the level shown is relatively low.

[Sunshine Lover] is the same.

With time almost up, Chen Wen decisively chose the third attribute [Sunshine Lover].

It’s the only positive attribute; if he doesn’t choose it, then what should he choose?

After the selection.

In front of Chen Wen, [Sunshine Lover] turned into a light green glow, merging into his chest.

The other two attributes turned into dust and disappeared without a trace.

After obtaining the attribute, Chen Wen clearly noticed a difference.

Originally, he sat under the tree to avoid the scorching sun.

But after acquiring the attribute, he felt an urge to step into the sunlight.

Hmm...

Chen Wen, nibbling on the apple, stepped into the sun.

The moment he stepped into the sunlight, Chen Wen let out a comfortable moan.

So refreshing.

The scorching sun shone on his skin; although there was a slight burning pain, the cells under Chen Wen’s skin were cheering.

It’s like soaking in a hot spring.

Also, the hunger has significantly eased.

This attribute is great!

It’s equivalent to gaining a low-level version of photosynthesis.

Chen Wen couldn’t help thinking.

After finishing the apple, Chen Wen returned to the shade.

For no other reason, the tropical deserted island had a dangerously strong sun.

Staying in the sun for too long would cause sunburn.

The system’s power and resources made Chen Wen relax a lot.

But the problems still existed.

How to create fire was a troublesome issue.

Fire-making by friction?

Chen Wen had watched many survival videos. The conditions for making fire by friction are very demanding.

Hand-twisting a stick is difficult; you might not even see a spark after hours of twisting.

The bow drill method requires sticks, strings, and other aids.

Chen Wen didn’t know any other methods.

And regardless of the method, dry tinder is needed.

It’s very difficult!

”One step at a time, let’s first look around the outskirts of the woods to see if I can find a water source, and meanwhile, gather some tinder and firewood.”

Chen Wen shook his head, deciding to take it slow.

...

On the south side of the island, the men’s group.

After distributing supplies, the ten people lingered at the spot for a while.

It wasn’t until the middle-aged man, acting as the temporary leader, urged everyone to explore the island that they started moving.

”How about this, let’s split into two groups: the five of us older ones will go into the forest to find a place to build a shelter, while the five younger ones search for food on the outskirts!”

The middle-aged man directed.

Upon hearing this, the younger ones all had some dissatisfaction on their faces.

It’s unbearable in the sun, searching for food here is pure torture.

While inside the forest there’s shade, and finding a place to build a shelter seems too simple.

The difficulty of the two tasks isn’t proportional at all!

The five young men remained silent, staring straight at the other five.

The face of the middle-aged man in temporary command turned stiff.

Just when the atmosphere was tense.

A rather well-fed middle-aged man stepped out with a smile: ”Everyone, I think we shouldn’t assign work based on age, but rather based on our strengths.”

”How about this, I’m good at sea fishing, so I’ll handle the food on the outskirts.”

As someone broke the ice, offering a compromise, others followed suit.

”I’m a laborer, not afraid of the sun, I’ll stay on the outskirts too.”

”I’m a fisherman, I know how to catch fish, I’ll handle the food too.”

”Uh, I’m a college student studying traditional Chinese medicine, maybe I should go into the forest to look for food?”

”Let’s go together, I’m from the countryside and know many wild vegetables.”

Under the guidance of the well-fed middle-aged man, the men’s group finally got on the right track.

...

The women’s group.

The atmosphere shifted.

Everyone sat together, chatting about celebrities and idols, and then about cosmetics.

But no one cared about survival!

After more than an hour of chatting, someone couldn’t help but speak up.

”Ladies, shouldn’t we start doing something?”

The speaker was a woman with great poise.

Her eyebrows and eyes didn’t possess the gentle beauty typical of Jiangnan ladies, but rather had a hint of bravado.

Upon hearing this, everyone was silent for a moment.

Someone weakly asked, ”What should we be doing?”

Someone was utterly shocked: ”Come on, do we really have to do everything ourselves? Isn’t this a variety show?”

Someone complained, ”Ugh, it’s so hot and sunny, how are we supposed to move?”

The dashing woman seemed puzzled: ”Survival, right? We should find water, food, make fire, and build a shelter.”

”Didn’t the contract mention this? It’s supposed to be survival training!”

”Hot? Is that even a problem?”

Listening to the dashing woman’s words, the other members of the women’s group looked at each other.

Is this... for real?
