The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 1039: Chapter 397: Interstellar Escape Live Broadcast (Part 21)_2

For a long while, the crowd didn’t react until several public officials from Empire Star rushed forward, calling out incessantly.

Tao Yao and the others exchanged glances.

They knew Doctor He and how precise and ruthless he was, but... but the scene before them broke their understanding.

After a long silence, Tao Yao finally spoke, seemingly trying to cover up, ”Did he, did he misunderstand and think Mr. Dawson was also an adventurer?”

In Adventure Park, adventurers could kill each other.

This reason, though a bit far-fetched, wasn’t without logic.

Even the other members of the expert team, amid shock and anger, couldn’t help but feel a twinge of doubt.

Yes, they were previously focused on verifying the blue fruit, forgetting that this wasn’t Empire Star, or any other planet that followed strict laws.

If confronted with assassination, perhaps not all the blame could be placed on adventurers.

After saying this, Tao Yao increasingly felt there might be a misunderstanding.

She wasn’t intentionally helping He Hongtian to escape but felt that he wasn’t as detestable as his crimes suggested.

These past few days, Tao Yao’s intuition told her: He Hongtian was a person with correct values and strong principles.

He used evil to combat evil, killing to stop killing, and though it seemed bloody, many victims’ families on the Star Network found solace—those executioners who brutally harmed their loved ones were all taken out by Doctor He.

Those scumbags had no chance for amnesty, nor did they exploit any loopholes!

To be honest, at times, even Tao Yao felt very satisfied and avenged.

Tao Yao had been He Hongtian’s ”teammate” for a few days, and although they didn’t have profound feelings, they weren’t strangers either.

At least, compared to the first time she met Mr. Dawson, the balance in Tao Yao’s heart tilted more towards He Hongtian!

If possible, Tao Yao also hoped He Hongtian wouldn’t encounter any danger or get into trouble.

If he performed well and survived 100 days in Adventure Park, he could have a very bright future.

...well, alright, Tao Yao knew her values were somewhat dangerous.

Even if it really was a misunderstanding, Mr. Dawson was innocent, and a vibrant life shouldn’t just vanish like that.

Alas, her heart was truly conflicted!

Tao Yao couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

She pinched her palm hard and decided to stick to her values.

She couldn’t keep finding excuses for Doctor He; killing was killing, and no misunderstanding could negate that fact!

Biting her lip tightly, Tao Yao felt ashamed of her earlier words and deeds!

However, the excuse Tao Yao found for ”He Hongtian” due to a moment’s softness wasn’t taken up by He Tiantian.

”There’s no misunderstanding! I deliberately wanted to kill this person—”

He Tiantian coldly said.

Tao Yao closed her eyes. Fine, I helped you against my conscience just now, and you didn’t appreciate it.

Then, whatever fate befalls you next will be considered just!

”Alright, so you indeed killed on purpose! You know Mr. Dawson isn’t an adventurer, yet you still—”

An official who had rushed to Mr. Dawson, the Royal Office Director, stood up angrily, pointing at He Tiantian and accusing furiously.

And just when this official intended to gather the accompanying Royal Guards to arrest ”He Hongtian,” another voice suddenly rang out: ”Stop!”

Everyone looked toward the newcomer.

The sky was already getting dark, and in the afterglow of sunset, a tall, majestic figure quickly approached!

”Huo Huating?”

”Thunderbolt General?!”

”...Alright, even if you are General Huo, you can’t interfere with our Empire Star’s affairs!”

”Exactly, murder is a serious crime, let alone the unprovoked execution of a public official; this is outright defiance against the Empire—”

Initially shocked, the public officials were the first to react, their tone bitter as they sneered at Huo Huating.

Huo Huating ignored these people’s reproaches and opposition and quickly approached Dawson.

”Ah Mo, quickly! Check the situation right away!”

Huo Huating reached out to feel for Dawson’s carotid artery, which had no pulse.

However, Dawson’s body was still warm, indicating he hadn’t been dead for long.

Very well, even though he arrived a bit late, it was still timely.

The red-haired technician, Ah Mo, knew the urgency of the situation and, without bantering, hurriedly started operating the device over Dawson’s corpse.

”What are you trying to do?”

”Yeah, you with the last name Huo, you’re too much!”
