Songs for his Chapter: Video Games by Lana Del Rey AND

PORCELAIN by Faouzia

Elian;

”That kind of loneliness,” I say gently, ”does something to a child. It teaches you not to ask. Not to hope. Not to reach.” I whisper, and I glance at him.

”And yet... even then, I knew I needed a mother. I just didn’t know what that meant.” I add, and I fall silent to let my words sink in.

The orchard hums quietly around us. Birds sing in the distance, leaves rustle overhead... and peace dancing ever so seductively just barely in reach.

”The strange thing,” I continue with a soft smile.

”is that after everything... after all the sufferings... I came here... And the gift you brothers gave me is allowing me meet mothers who chose me.” I add, and he raises a brow.

”Women who didn’t give birth to me didn’t owe me anything, and still look at me with care. With patience. With love...” I add, and my chest tightens, but this time it’s not pain. It’s gratitude.

”First, Queen Cassia, and now Queen Selthia. I didn’t know how to accept it at first,” I admit.

”It felt foreign. Uncomfortable. Like wearing clothes that didn’t fit.” I add with a small, shallow chuckle before turning fully to face him now.

”But I learned. Slowly. One step at a time.” I add as I reach out to hold his hand, and his gaze drops to the grass.

”I think,” I say carefully,

”That Queen Selthía could be a wonderful mother... if you let her,” I add, and silence follows.

Long, heavy silence. But I say nothing. I just wait. I’ve been speaking for so long, but I need to know what he thinks.

What’s going on in his mind?

If he’s upset with me for getting myself involved in his business, or if he understands that I’m doing this because I care... Because I love him...

He finally speaks... his voice low and rough as he breaks the silence.

”You make it sound easy.” He scoffs, and I shake my head in disagreement.

”It isn’t. Forgiveness is one of the hardest things any person can do,” I whisper, and he lets out a deep breath,

”I spent years sealing that door shut, Elián— Years convincing myself I didn’t need what was on the other side. You don’t just open something like that without bleeding.” He grumbles as he turns away from me, and I smile.

I scoot closer to him, our shoulders nearly touching, but it’s not enough.

I pull myself onto his lap, and I see the shock on his face, but I don’t stop.

I straddle him and sling my arms over his shoulders.

His beautiful, dual colored eyes fix on mine in confusion, and I smile as I stare at the perfect beauty of this man.

I run my free fingers through his hair, and I lean against him, burying my face in his neck.

My lips rest against his neck, and my mind focuses on his pulse that I feel breathing just beneath my lips.

I kiss there softly, and he immediately grabs me and draws in a shuddering breath.

”You don’t have to open the door all at once, Zethar,” I whisper against his neck, and I feel his grip around me get firm.

”Just crack it open... a little bit,” I add, as I adjust myself against him, and I feel him right beneath me. He’s growing hard...

And I cannot deny the part of me that likes that I can get him hard by just sitting on him. It’s new... satisfying information.

”Elian?” He calls, and I blink back to the present.

Oh, right. I got distracted.

”One step,” I whisper, and he hums in confusion.

”Hmm?”

”I’m saying that’s all you need to take right now. One step. A small crack in the door you’ve sealed shut. And... It may not mean much to you, but every step you take... I’ll be there.” I add, as I smile against his skin.

A small but sincere smile.

”From one child who never had a mother... to another who might finally let himself have one,” I add as I pull back to stare at him, and he stares at me in silence for a while.

”Having a mother is an important part of anyone’s development. You may be vicious and tough. It’s sexy and all... but I want to see the beautiful angel inside you who’s craving his mother’s embrace. That child you’ve tied up and locked away in your heart... he needs a mother. Let him some love... please, Zethar. It’ll do you both good.” I whisper, and he stares at me for a long moment.

Then, unexpectedly, he laughs.

A soft, almost disbelieving laugh.

”So,” he says, shaking his head, ”there really is some wisdom under all your chaos.” He teases, and I find myself unable to get mad. I just grin and shrug.

”I try. From time to time.” I reply, and he laughs properly this time. The sound eases something tight in my chest, and I lean back into him.

”I love you, Zethar.” I mindlessly confess, and he pauses.

I don’t know when or how exactly it happened, but I love both brothers. I didn’t know it was possible to love more than one person, but I do.

First it was Koda, and now, these two.

How wouldn’t I love them?

Zephan’s welcoming composure, Zethar’s entertaining chaos, but hidden control and intriguing wisdom?

He’s so honest, true to how he feels, and sincere. He protects me and treats me so well, too. How can I not love him??

”I love you, Zethar...” I whisper again, and he hugs me back this time.

”You little dumpling...” He whispers, and I chuckle as I lean further into his hold.

All I want is to see him happy. I need him to be happy. I need to know that his happiness is full. To see him laugh, joke, mess around, and know there’s little to no pain hidden in his heart.

I can’t sit back and watch him suffer. He has to try. I want his family to heal. To be okay.

Even if it’s the only thing I can do to thank them for how well they’ve been taking care of me.

”Promise me,” I whisper, and I hold onto him.

”Not that you’ll forgive her... Not that you’ll just let everything go. No. Just... Just... promise me you’ll try. For my sake.” I plead against his ear, and I feel a shiver run through him.

He pauses, and I shut my eyes. Not willing to give up.

”Please...” I push, and I feel his grip on my shirt tighten. Then sighs.

”You fight dirty.” He groans, and I smile widely at the seemingly impending victory.

”Fine,” he mutters.

”I’ll try.” He adds reluctantly, and relief floods me so quickly it almost knocks the breath from my lungs.

I pull back to be sure he’s serious, and I see a small, beautiful, genuine smile on his face.

I press a delicate kiss against his lips before I can second-guess myself. He pauses for a second in shock, and then his fingers crawl up to my hair, cradling the back of my head as he kisses me back.

He kisses me gently at first... like I’m something sweet he loves but doesn’t want to eat too quickly.

My fingers curl into fists against his chest as I find myself craving more.

I lean further into the kiss, hoping my lips can confess through this kiss, the things my heart doesn’t have the words to convey.

How much I need him... want him... adore him...

The kiss deepened, and soon, we’re devouring each other’s lips like the other person is an elixir of youth, and we’re trying to live forever.

”You tempt me, little one...” Zethar breathes into the kiss, and that sends excitement strumming through me.

I kiss him harder. My hands crawling up as I lose myself in this heavenly sensation.

”Who said you have to hold back?” I reply, and his reply sends fire down my spine and between my legs.

”You don’t know what you’re asking...” He replies, and I smile into the kiss.

”I do. I want you.” I reply, and he pauses, he slowly breaks the kiss, and stares at me.

He smiles, and I can tell it’s a sad smile this time.

He takes his finger to my face and gently caresses my cheek.

He pinches a little, and I just blink at him.

”I want you too. I haven’t wanted anything so badly in so long. But I’d rather die of hurt than hurt you.” He whispers as he gently pinches my cheek, and I blink at him.

”But—” I begin, but Elien speaks in my mind.

”Don’t push him too hard at a stretch. He just agreed for your sake to try forgiving Selthia. Don’t try to force him to do something else. Be patient.”

His words make sense, and I’m glad he stepped in to stop me when he did.

I smile at Zethar and peck his cheek.

Then I stand up from his lap.

He blinks up at me, confused.

”What—?”

”Nothing. My job here is done.” I reply, and I watch his brows knot as my gaze drops to the apples on the floor.

”When you get back to your room,” I say firmly, while gathering the remaining apples into my arms, ”clean it,” I order, and his response comes fast.

”What?”

”That mess you made,” I continue, mock-stern as I stand to look at him with loads of apples hugged to my chest.

”It’s not princely. And definitely not acceptable for a future king.” I add, and he bursts out laughing.

I turn and start down the path that leads back to the castle.

Behind me, his laughter fades into something quieter.

Warmer.

The last thing I see when I glance back is Zethar standing beneath the apple tree.

Smiling.

Not wide.

Not whole.

But real.

And that... that’s enough for now. Even though I want to talk about why he thinks he’ll hurt me, and why he keeps pulling away from me...

His happiness is enough for now.
