My Silly, Sweet Wife

”Cough, cough.” Su Mu didn’t expect Ye Guichen to see through his schemes at a glance, causing him to cough violently from excitement.

Su Jiu’er was displeased, ”Grandfather, what do you mean? Is what Ye Guichen said true?”

Su Jiu’er’s feelings for Ye Guichen were very complicated.

At first, she felt Ye Guichen was too arrogant, with nothing to show yet always putting on an aloof demeanor.

From never yielding, to gradually seeing the abilities Ye Guichen demonstrated, he indeed had reasons to be proud.

Later, after being saved by Ye Guihua twice, Su Jiu’er’s impression of Ye Guichen slowly changed, but it was just non-dislike at best.

However, upon returning to the Su Family, Su Jiu’er was shocked to find that she couldn’t shake off Ye Guichen’s figure from her mind.

Actually, if it weren’t for Ye Guichen, Su Jiu’er wouldn’t be so averse to the marriage with the Shen Family.

But now Su Jiu’er discovered that marrying someone she didn’t like would be worse than death.

This time, hearing that Ye Guichen would attend her engagement party, Su Jiu’er’s mood was extremely complex, overwhelmed with mixed emotions, not knowing how to face Ye Guichen.

But when she actually saw him again, Su Jiu’er realized that she didn’t feel unfamiliar with Ye Guichen, he seemed unchanged.

The only change seemed to be her own mindset.

Hearing Ye Guichen’s words, Su Jiu’er’s face turned ugly, asking Su Mu with a questioning tone, ”Grandfather, I’ve agreed to marry Shen Lian, what more do you want? Ye Guichen is just a friend, do you wish to harm him?”

In Su Jiu’er’s view, if Su Mu was really planning as Ye Guichen said, he probably wanted Shen Lian to deal with Ye Guichen to prevent her from further feelings for him.

”Jiu’er, how can you speak to your grandfather like that!” Su Cheng reprimanded, ”Grandfather has his own considerations, go out immediately to welcome the guests and pretend nothing happened.”

Su Jiu’er wouldn’t listen to Su Cheng, ”No! Grandfather, you promised me that if I agreed to marry Shen Lian, you wouldn’t trouble Ye Guichen! Huh, you’re not troubling him on the surface, but you mean to let someone else trouble him, right?”

Su Jiu’er knew Ye Guichen was powerful and the chief mentor at the Heavenly God Temple.

However, the Shen Family was the second of the four major aristocratic families in the Capital City.

If Shen Lian really wanted to deal with Ye Guichen, it would likely be difficult for Ye Guichen to survive.

Seeing Su Jiu’er not listening to him, Su Cheng wanted to say more but was stopped by Su Mu.

Su Mu forced a smile, looked at Su Jiu’er, ”Jiu’er, I know you’re not satisfied with Shen Lian, and I understand your thoughts. But our Su Family may seem glamorous, yet we’re actually beset with internal and external troubles. If we don’t find a strong partner, it won’t be long before our family vanishes.”

”I don’t care, I don’t care, Grandfather. You must keep your promise to me. If you can’t, then I won’t agree to this marriage!” Su Jiu’er grabbed her phoenix crown, trying to throw it, but was scolded by Su Cheng, ”Jiu’er, listen to your grandfather finish! You’re grown up now, why still act like a kid!”

Su Jiu’er pouted, didn’t throw down the phoenix crown after all, but her eyes turned red, tears welling up, ready to fall.

Su Cheng signaled to Su Wu with a glance, ”You go outside and keep an eye out, don’t let anyone in, including Shen Lian.”

Su Wu seemed to know what they were about to discuss next, nodded, ”Yes, foster father!”

After Su Wu left, Su Mu sighed, ”Jiu’er, you know you’re the one Grandfather loves most. If it weren’t absolutely necessary, how could I marry you to Shen Lian? I also know Shen Lian, though charming and a dragon among people in many eyes, he is inherently violent, not an ideal match.”

It was the first time Su Jiu’er heard her grandfather speak such words, her eyes widened in disbelief, ”Grandfather, if you know, why insist on marrying me to him?”

During this time, Su Jiu’er had struggled, but no matter what tricks she used, it was futile.

Su Mu seemed to have set his mind.

In the past, as long as Su Jiu’er acted coquettishly, Su Mu would agree with her.

But this time, no matter how she threatened or begged, it was completely useless.

”Jiu’er, I’m not doing well.” Su Mu suddenly dropped a bombshell, stunning Su Jiu’er, ”Grandfather, what are you talking about? How are you not well?”

”My health is at its end, I fear I can’t last another month.” Su Mu continued, not shying away from Ye Guichen, ”Before, I thought even if I couldn’t last two or three years, a year and a half should be fine, but now, it seems I overestimated myself. Haha, if I die, just in the Southwest Region alone, there’d be no shortage of people wanting to deal with us. By then, I could close my eyes and care about nothing, but what about you?”

”Especially that Wu Family, they’ve been eyeing us covetously. They probably want to take advantage of this engagement matter to make a big fuss. If they succeed, it would be devastating for our Su Family.”

Su Jiu’er gazed at Su Mu anxiously; earlier, she cried because Su Mu would harm Ye Guichen, but this time, it was upon hearing Su Mu’s words knowing he was not well.

Tears flowed uncontrollably, ”Grandfather, don’t talk nonsense, you’ll definitely live a long life.”

Saying that, she threw herself at Su Mu.

Su Mu lovingly stroked Su Jiu’er’s hair, ”Silly girl, everyone has their fate, how many people can live to a hundred?”

Then he looked up at Ye Guichen, ”Mr. Ye, I know you’re dissatisfied with me, but I’m helpless too. You’ve met Shen Lian, so you can probably guess it; their Shen Family agreed to marry Jiu’er not just because of her beauty, but also because of our vast Su Family.”

”If it weren’t necessary, how could I form a marriage alliance with the Shen Family? Haha, Mr. Ye, you wouldn’t blame me, would you?”

Ye Guichen pulled up a chair and sat down, ”Sunan King, you are indeed a sly old fox. You had it all planned. Just based on Su Jiu’er’s behavior towards me outside the Su Mansion earlier, Shen Lian already sees me as a mortal enemy. Even if I do nothing, he probably won’t let me go. And you, you just counted on this point to meet me, making me see your current critical condition, right?”

”Indeed worthy of being the chief mentor of the Heavenly God Temple, overturning the Medicine King Valley with a single force and elevating the Shennong Sect to the top Chinese medicine faction, Sect Leader Ye. I suddenly realize, I’ve lived my years like a dog.”

”Hahaha, no wonder Jiu’er is so enamored with you, even ignoring her grandfather’s words. If I were a woman, I’d probably like you too.”
