After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: I Will Make Julian Fletcher and Erin Whittaker Regret

Asher!

That madman from the orphanage.

The murderer who turned himself in, claiming he killed me!

’Why is he here?!’

He seemed to freeze for a moment, staring at me for a long time.

Belatedly, I snatched the towel from the floor, wrapped it around myself, and turned to fumble for a phone to call the police.

My body was trembling, probably from fear. I searched for what felt like an eternity but couldn’t find a phone in this unfamiliar environment. The feeling was like being trapped in a nightmare, desperately trying to break free from my restraints, but completely powerless.

Kneeling on the floor, I looked at myself in the mirror—at the unfamiliar face that still bore a strong resemblance to my own.

”Ah!” I cried out, terrified. I raised a helpless hand to touch that face.

’No, that’s not right. I’m already dead. Who is this person in the mirror?’

My breathing was rapid, and it took a long time to steady it. In that moment, I finally understood. I had been reborn. Reborn into the body of a complete stranger!

”You...” The air was silent for a long time before I tentatively broke it.

”You people just want a child. Give birth to the Lancaster family’s child... You’ll get what you want. If you don’t want to die, then get out!” He spoke with brutal finality.

I could see the grim, suppressed killing intent in his eyes.

’He wants to kill me!’

’Of course... a murderer is a murderer. The hostile aura and killing intent radiating from him were impossible to hide.’

I watched him warily, my hand scrambling for the table lamp, ready to fight back at any moment.

I didn’t have a phone, so I couldn’t call the police. My current situation was terrifying. I didn’t know who I was now, and I certainly didn’t know why I had woken up in bed with a murderer!

Perhaps sensing the killing intent in my own eyes, Asher’s gaze grew even darker.

The two of us were like wild animals poised to tear each other apart, neither daring to let their guard down first.

Just as I was forcing myself to calm down and analyze the situation, the door opened. A middle-aged man in a wheelchair was pushed inside.

”Miss Lynch, your screams last night were quite wild.” The man’s lips curled into a malicious smirk. ”The old master agreed to the marriage alliance between the Lancaster and Lynn families and to provide the Lynn family with financial support so you could give the Lancaster family a healthy heir, not so you could come here and enjoy yourself!”

”?” I frowned.

’Silvia Lynch? The Lynn Family?’

’The Lancaster Family? A marriage alliance?’

’To produce an heir?’

The middle-aged man left the room. I hurried to follow him out but was blocked by a nanny waiting outside. ”Let me out! What gives you the right to lock me in here!”

”Miss Lynch, your duty is to bear an heir for the Lancaster family to save your Lynn family. To ensure you conceive successfully during this ovulation period, please bear with it a little longer.”

With that, she shut the door.

”Let me out!” I was angry, but also scared. I desperately needed to figure out what was going on.

’Why have I become this murderer’s breeding tool?’

”So noisy.” Asher seemed agitated. He spoke in a hoarse voice, rummaging for something.

”Where is it?” He was completely naked, a heavy hostility radiating from him.

I was actually stunned by his hostile aura and found myself re-evaluating this madman.

I had only ever seen him in ill-fitting, baggy clothes—pants too short to cover his ankles. I never could have imagined... that this person was so devastatingly beautiful.

Objectively speaking, Asher’s physique and features were both top-tier... If I hadn’t already died once, I would find it hard to connect him with the person who had so brutally murdered me.

”I asked you... where is my thing?” He lunged at me, losing control and wrapping his hands around my neck.

In that instant, he truly intended to kill.

He seemed to be taking his anger out on me for sleeping with him, and for touching his belongings.

The feeling of suffocation washed over me, and the shadow of death loomed once more. I frantically slapped at Asher, subconsciously aiming for his neck.

”Cece, next time you run into a bad guy, hit him right in the Adam’s apple. It can make him choke for a moment, giving you a chance to escape.”

Suddenly, my head felt like it was splitting open. ’Who was it that taught me self-defense?’

’That voice, unfamiliar yet so familiar... who was it? After the car accident when I was eighteen, who did I forget?’

I’d always felt that I had forgotten someone very important, but I could never remember who!

”Cece...” Wincing in pain, Asher clutched his neck, his searing gaze fixed on me. Then, as if possessed, he started searching frantically again.

Finally, under the towel, he found a bracelet.

I stared at the bracelet in shock. It was the one I had given to the thief before, and it was also the one the murderer had placed on the victim...

But the victim had already been discovered by the police. The bracelet should be in their possession.

’Could it be... an identical one?’

Asher clutched the bracelet, the hostile energy around him dissipating. He turned, found a corner, and curled up in it like a wounded beast licking its own wounds.

I took a few deep breaths, forcing myself to calm down.

While I was unconscious last night, some memories that didn’t belong to me had indeed entered my mind. They seemed to be the original owner’s memories, which I hadn’t fully processed. Now that I had calmed down, I was finally starting to understand.

The original owner was named Silvia Lynch, daughter of Evan Lynch, the chairman of the Lynn Group. She had been sold to the Lancaster family like a commodity, a tool for childbirth.

To save her family’s company, Silvia Lynch was treated as a breeding tool with a price tag. After entering the Lancaster household, she was forced by Dylan Lancaster—the man in the wheelchair from earlier—to take ovulation-inducing shots, aphrodisiacs, and other drugs...

Because the original owner had a weak heart, the drugs were too much of a shock to her system. When she was thrown into the room, she died of extreme fright.

And I, by some twist of fate, for reasons unknown, was reborn in her body.

”Asher?” I tried to communicate with him. ’I need to put on an act and stabilize this prime suspect. I can’t tell if he’s genuinely simple-minded or just pretending to be insane.’

He glanced at me, his deep, mixed-race eyes so beautiful they were dangerous, as if they could pull a person in.

Huddled there stark naked in the corner, he was the very picture... of a perfect work of art from Greek mythology.

’Indeed, if you didn’t know this man was very likely a psychopathic murderer, anyone would be captivated by his beauty.’

His proportions were too perfect. He had long, powerful legs. Perhaps because of his Caucasian heritage, his skin was much fairer than that of most Estrians. There were gruesome scars on his calves and the soles of his feet, but they didn’t detract from the beauty of his legs in the slightest.

”How can we get out of here?” I asked cautiously, trying to soften my voice.

He just watched me, watching me quietly.

”Cece...” Suddenly, he called my name.

I looked up instinctively. ”Hm?”

After I responded, I couldn’t figure out who he was addressing: Cecilia Caldwell, or Silvia Lynch.

Asher suddenly seemed to grow agitated, his eyes reddening. With great restraint, he slowly walked over and obediently crouched down in front of me.

I was a little surprised. A second ago, he was like a wild wolf ready to hunt at any moment. How did he suddenly become so docile?

’It seems that if I want to gain his trust, I have to pretend to be as gentle as possible toward him.’

’My identity is no longer Cecilia Caldwell. Instead, I’m the granddaughter-in-law of the Lancaster Group’s chairman? Ha. This change in status is certainly dramatic. In the past, I lived under someone else’s roof with no background and no power to fight back. But now... can I make good use of my current identity? Use the power and background of the Lancaster family?’

’Erin Whittaker and Julian Fletcher caused my tragic death. There’s no way I’ll let them off the hook. I will find the real killer, and I will make Erin Whittaker and Julian Fletcher pay back every single thing they owe me!’

’I will definitely make them regret it.’
