Detective Conan: Shadow Legion Office

49: Chapter 49 Lin Long’s Clown PerformanceAt the US military base on Okinawa Island, the afternoon sun was blindingly intense, and the air was filled with a unique scent mixed with machine oil, gunpowder, and the sea breeze.

The roar of fighter jets occasionally pierced the sky, and soldiers in camouflage uniforms marched in orderly steps while patrolling, giving the entire base an air of solemn majesty.

But this majesty was non-existent in front of Lin Long.

General White, the base’s top commander—a burly man nearly two meters tall with a fleshy face—was currently acting like a fawning servant, hunched over as he followed behind Lin Long, his face filled with a cautious smile.

”Mr. Lin Long, look at our new stealth fighter jets here; they are the latest models, and there aren’t many of them in the world...”

Lin Long listened nonchalantly, his gaze sweeping over the shimmering fighter jets on the tarmac, his red eyes showing not a hint of interest.

He hadn’t come here today to tour any weapons.

”General White.”

Lin Long suddenly stopped, his tone flat as he interrupted his incessant chatter, ”Are the things I asked you to prepare ready?”

The smile on General White’s face became even more fawning, and he hurriedly bowed and scraped, saying:

”Respected Mr. Lin Long, rest assured! The weapons and equipment you requested were handed over to the people you sent to receive them half an hour ago!”

”They are all top-tier goods: M4 assault rifles, M249 light machine guns, breaching rounds, smoke grenades... and the signal jammers you specifically requested, guaranteed to be foolproof!”

In reality, his mind was full of questions.

Three days ago, his direct superior—that big shot at The Pentagon whose word was law—had suddenly sent him an encrypted order to unconditionally obey all commands from an Eastern man named ”Lin Long.” No matter what request the other party made, even if it were to blow up the base, he had to comply without asking a single question.

General White had been in the military for many years and knew deep down how murky these waters were.

Someone who could be so highly regarded by that big shot was definitely not someone he could afford to offend.

Therefore, from the moment Lin Long stepped into the base, he had kept his posture extremely low, serving him as if he were an ancestor.

”Hmm.” Lin Long nodded noncommittally and waved his hand, ”Go back to your business. I’ll find you if I need anything.”

”Alright! Just let me know if you need anything!”

General White hurriedly replied and backed away. His respectful manner made the soldiers secretly observing him drop their jaws—who had ever seen the usually hot-tempered General White be so polite to anyone?

Ignoring those surprised gazes, Lin Long, guided by a soldier, walked toward a secret warehouse deep inside the base.

Two fully armed guards stood at the entrance of the warehouse. Seeing Lin Long, they immediately straightened their backs and gave a standard military salute.

Lin Long nodded and pushed the door open to enter.

The warehouse was brightly lit, and the air was filled with the pungent smell of gun oil.

Thirty mercenaries in black tactical gear stood in three neat rows. Each person wore a black balaclava, revealing only a pair of cold eyes, with greasepaint smeared on their faces. Their bodies were laden with magazines, grenades, and tactical knives. They held M4 assault rifles that were wiped spotless, and Beretta pistols were tucked at their waists.

At the very front of the formation, James, wearing the same combat uniform and holding an M249 light machine gun, saw Lin Long enter and immediately stepped forward, giving a crisp and clean military salute:

”Boss! Thirty members of the Shadow Mercenary Group elite special operations team, reporting to you!”

The thirty mercenaries stood at attention simultaneously and shouted in unison: ”Boss!”

The sound was thunderous, carrying an aura of killing intent that seemed capable of blowing the roof off the warehouse.

Lin Long’s gaze swept over them.

These thirty men were the aces of the Shadow Mercenary Group. Each had experienced dozens of life-and-death battles, was proficient in various combat techniques and weapon usage, and combined with bodies modified by dark energy, their combat power far exceeded that of ordinary special forces.

”Very good.”

Lin Long nodded with satisfaction, walked to the weapon rack nearby, picked up a custom-tailored black combat suit, and changed into it with efficient movements.

This combat suit used the latest Kevlar material; it was lightweight and bulletproof, with special tactical racks on the waist and shoulders for quickly changing magazines and equipment.

After changing, Lin Long picked up an M4 assault rifle, skillfully checked the bolt and magazine, tucked a Glock 23 pistol into his waist, and finally grabbed his tactical helmet and night-vision goggles.

The whole process was smooth and fluid, without any hesitation, which made James and the mercenaries nod secretly—their Boss not only had unfathomable strength, but his gun-handling movements were also so professional.

Lin Long walked to the front of the formation, his gaze like a knife, sweeping over everyone’s face: ”Next, I will announce the combat mission.”

Everyone held their breath, their eyes focused.

”Target: Tokyo Mihua Grand Hotel, the wedding site of the Tomizawa Financial Group and the Suzuki Conglomerate.”

Lin Long’s voice came through the tactical headset, carrying a trace of cold killing intent,

”Mission requirements: Eliminate all core members of the Tomizawa Financial Group, including but not limited to the head of the family Tetsuji Tomizawa, heirs Tomizawa Yuzo, Daji Tomizawa, Fuzawa Taichi, and the illegitimate son Fuzawa Seiji.”

He paused and added:

”Except for the targets, do not kill others if unnecessary, but they must be controlled and not allowed to interfere with our operation.”

”Understood!” everyone replied in unison.

”Action steps:”

Lin Long continued,

”First, after arriving at the Mihua Grand Hotel, split into three teams.

The first team, led by James, will breach from the hotel’s back door and control the fire exits and elevators;

The second team is responsible for perimeter security, preventing police and hotel security from approaching;

The third team will follow me and breach directly into the wedding venue.”

”Second, after entering the venue, immediately activate the signal jammers to cut off all communication signals inside the hotel to prevent anyone from calling the police.”

”Third, the operation time is only ten minutes. Within ten minutes, all kill missions must be completed, and then we will evacuate via the pre-planned route. Do not get bogged down in combat.”

”Of course, some facade work still needs to be done. Remember to have the celebrities at the banquet hand over all their valuables, and then make each of them pay money to buy their lives.”

Lin Long’s plan was meticulous and ruthless, without any hesitation.

He intended to frame this attack as a robbery by fierce bandits.

James asked: ”Boss, what about the people from the Suzuki Conglomerate? Their head of the family, Suzuki Shiro, and his wife will also be there.”

”And what if those hostages don’t cooperate?”

”The same goes for Mr. and Mrs. Suzuki; take their things and make them pay to redeem their lives.”

”As for those who don’t cooperate.”

Lin Long sneered,

”If they don’t know what’s good for them, then you teach them what to do; if they still dare to get in the way, kill them without mercy.”

Lin Long didn’t want to kill those hostages, just didn’t want to make the matter too big, which didn’t mean Lin Long didn’t dare to kill them.

”Yes!”

Lin Long checked the time:

”It is now eight o’clock in the morning, and the wedding starts at ten. We have one hour to reach the venue and make final deployments.”

He picked up a black balaclava and put it on, revealing only a pair of red eyes, then took a comical Joker mask from his pocket and put it on over the balaclava.

A ghastly white base, an exaggerated red smile, and a pair of eyes glowing with an eerie light—this mask formed a stark contrast with the murderous aura on his body, instead revealing a hair-raising madness.

”Let’s go.”

Lin Long weighed the rifle in his hand and led the way out of the warehouse,

”Today, we are going to Beika Town to play the ’Joker’.”

Lin Long wanted to see if this city, known as the ”Gotham of the East,” had a ”Batman” capable of stopping him.

”Go! Go! Go!”

James shouted, and the thirty mercenaries immediately followed. The sound of orderly footsteps echoed in the warehouse like the drumbeats of death.

Outside the warehouse, three specially modified buses were already waiting there.

The vehicles had no markings, the windows were covered with black blast-resistant film, and the engines emitted a low roar, ready to unleash astonishing speed at any moment.

Lin Long and James boarded the first vehicle first, while the others split into the other two vehicles.

”Target, Tokyo Mihua Grand Hotel! Full speed ahead!”

As James gave the order, the three off-road vehicles shot out like arrows from a bow, rushing out of the military base and speeding toward Beika Town.

Outside the windows, the coastline of Okinawa Island receded rapidly, and the azure sea shimmered under the sunlight, looking peaceful and beautiful.

But no one knew that a bloody storm was quietly approaching the bustling Tokyo.

Lin Long leaned back in his seat, looking at the fleeting scenery outside the window through the eyeholes of the Joker mask, a cold and crazy smile curving at the corner of his mouth.

Members of the tomizawa family, are you ready to welcome your doom?

This wedding is destined to become a... bloody funeral that will go down in history.
