The Golem Mage

693: Arthur Gordons 2.

693: Arthur Gordons 2.

With Alec vouching for his teammate, the referee chose not to intervene, Connor, emboldened by this decision, dashed toward Arthur with renewed confidence.

This time, he dropped to all fours, his movements becoming faster and more primal.

Arthur initially considered unsheathing the spirit sword strapped to his back but decided against it the moment he saw Connor’s ferocious speed.

Instead, he adjusted his stance, lowering his right hand and planting his feet firmly on the ground.

The silver gauntlets on Arthur’s hands seemed to enlarge slightly, as faint trails of smoke where escaping from the intricate lines carved along their surface.

Bang!

A thunderous clash shook the stage as their attacks started.

Arthur attempted a direct punch, but Connor’s erratic fighting style allowed him to twist his body just enough to evade.

This left Arthur momentarily exposed, and Connor capitalized on the opening, slapping Arthur with a resounding force.

The impact reverberated through the air, creating a sonic wave that left many spectators stunned.

It was then that they realized Connor wasn’t just a werewolf but also a sound element mage.

Arthur, who was sent flying, landed hard on his knees.

The crowd noticed him shaking his head as the sonic attack seemed to disorient him.

Yet even as he appeared vulnerable, Connor wasted no time closing the gap between then as he planned on capitalising on this chance.

With lethal precision, Connor lunged, his clawed hand aiming straight for Arthur’s heart.

However, just as his claws were about to pierce through, Arthur’s seemingly dazed eyes suddenly sharpened, locking onto Connor with a cold, unyielding gaze.

Boom!

Connor staggered back, his vision blurring momentarily, as he struggled to comprehend what had just happened.

He was certain he had landed a critical blow, yet it was he who was now wobbling unsteadily.

Arthur stood tall, cracking his fist, his expression calm and composed.

“How did you like that?” Arthur asked, his voice steady and confident.

Before Connor could react, Arthur vanished.

Or so it seemed until Connor realized, too late, that Arthur hadn’t disappeared.

Instead, he had reappeared directly in front of him, delivering a devastating uppercut.

A loud bang echoed as Connor was slightly lifted into the air by Arthur’s uppercut, only to be dragged back down violently.

Arthur gripped Connor’s shoulder and slammed him face-first into the ground with tremendous force.

Connor, who had been healing his previous injuries due to his rapid regenerative abilities, felt his insides churn painfully.

As his internal organs were in disarray, and he struggled to regain his composure after the brutal impact.

He couldn’t ignore the fact that Arthur’s attacks had become significantly faster and more powerful, and it dawned on him that Arthur had been holding back all along.

But Connor’s pride refused to let him falter, remembering the words of his coordinator, he couldn’t bear the thought of losing to Arthur.

So he Crawled backward swiftly using his claws, as he managed to push himself to his feet without being disrupted, determined to continue fighting Arthur.

As soon as he stood, however, he was met by Arthur, who had closed the distance effortlessly using the [Earth Stride Spell].

Without hesitation, Connor lashed out, swinging his clawed hand toward Arthur.

A split second before impact, an earth shield materialized to block the attack, while Arthur countered with a crushing punch to Connor’s ribs, the same spot he had targeted earlier.

The force of the blow made Connor wince in pain.

His bones felt like they might shatter, desperate, he launched into a frenzy, swinging his fists wildly in hopes of overwhelming Arthur.

His plan was simple, if Arthur couldn’t keep up, he wouldn’t have time to defend or land precise strikes on Connor’s already injured ribs.

But Connor underestimated Arthur’s adaptability, as Connor increased his speed, so did Arthur.

Their fists collided in a relentless flurry, the impacts reverberating through the air as the crowd watched in awe.

Despite the chaos, Arthur’s punches landed with surgical precision, repeatedly targeting Connor’s ribs.

Connor quickly realized he was losing the exchange, his regenerative abilities, which is his greatest pride, couldn’t keep pace with Arthur’s relentless silver-coated punches.

Each blow felt like it cut deeper, leaving lasting damage.

To make matters worse, whenever Connor landed a hit, Arthur’s armour absorbed most of the force, rebounding the impact back to him.

Causing the strain on Connor’s fists to become unbearable, each strike leaving his knuckles sore and bruised.

But when Arthur landed his punches, Connor felt their devastating penetrative power reaching deep into his body, wreaking havoc on his internal organs.

The relentless targeting of vulnerable areas like his ribs only worsened his condition.

His once-durable fur hide, tougher than most Tier 5 Spirit equipment armour, provided no protection against the silver-coated energy that enveloped Arthur’s gauntlets.

Each strike seemed to bypass his defences and tear him apart from the inside.

Connor was running on sheer willpower alone now as his body had already reached its limit, his punches were getting slower each second, blood dripped from his mouth, and his vision was beginning to blur.

The bitter truth sank in, he couldn’t defeat the unknown mage standing before him.

“Gotcha!” Arthur declared, bending slightly as he delivered a crushing punch to Connor’s midsection.

The blow forced the air out of Connor’s lungs, leaving him gasping in pain.

Arthur then swiftly maneuvered behind Connor, wrapping his arms tightly around his waist.

Connor struggled to escape, but Arthur locked his grip with unyielding strength, with a determined stance, Arthur bent his knees and hoisted Connor into the air before slamming him down in a devastating suplex.

The audience watched in stunned silence as Connor’s back collided with the stage with a deafening crack.

The impact left Connor unconscious, as his werewolf form cancelled out, he reverted back to his human state.

“Ahhhhhh!” Arthur roared triumphantly, rising to his feet and shouting into the air.

For the first time, he felt like he truly belonged to the team, as he had proven himself, not as a mere participant in the group battles, but as a key contributor to their success.

Arthur’s victory cry acted as a wake-up call to the War God Academy fans, who had been eerily silent moments earlier.

Their cheers erupted like a tidal wave, drowning out the groans of disappointment from the Bloodline Academy supporters.

“The first battle is concluded: War God Academy, 1 – Bloodline Academy, 0!” the red-haired referee announced as members of the Bloodline Academy’s reserve team rushed to retrieve Connor’s unconscious body.

Arthur descended from the stage, his part in the match complete.

He had upheld Alec’s trust when he was given the chance and he has proved himself in front of everyone.

“You’ve done well!” Alec was the first to greet him, slapping Arthur’s shoulder with pride as the rest of the team celebrated their unexpected victory.
