Cultivation Begins with Daily Intelligence Reports

271: Ninefold Thunder ScriptureThe mountain winds howled and thunder rumbled, yet between Lin Jingyu and Zhan Tai Mingyue, a peculiar Realm of tranquility seemed to form.

Zhan Tai Mingyue did not directly expound on profound Spells, but instead began with the most fundamental essence of thunder: ”Fellow Daoist Lin, in your opinion, what is thunder?”

Lin Jingyu pondered for a moment, then, combining his own insights, slowly said:

”Thunder is the power of ultimate Yang and ultimate rigidity, born from the 天地 肅殺之氣 (Qi of Heaven and Earth’s 肅殺), presiding over punishment, eliminating evil and warding off defilement.

However, when things reach an extreme, they reverse; extreme rigidity gives rise to softness. Within the utmost destruction, there also lies a glimmer of life.

Like the spring thunder awakening insects, all things revive. Therefore, the Dao of thunder is not solely destruction; it is truly a cycle of destruction and rebirth, a manifestation of the Heavenly Dao’s Law.”

A flash of light appeared in Zhan Tai Mingyue’s eyes, and he clapped his hands, saying:

”Excellent! For Fellow Daoist to see life within destruction, you have already grasped the Thunder Samadhi. However, the speed of thunder is unparalleled; how do you view that, Fellow Daoist?”

”Thunder moves swiftly, like light and electricity, elusive. Yet, though fast, it still has a discernible trajectory.”

Lin Jingyu extended his right hand, and a wisp of purple electric arc danced at his fingertips.

”When the heart and intent align, and intent and thunder align, if one can control thunder with Divine Sense rather than resist it with force, then even the wrath of thunder can be used by me.”

As he spoke, the electric arc at his fingertip suddenly stretched, transforming into a slender electric snake that coiled and moved in the air. Though its range was small, it was extraordinarily agile, demonstrating extremely strong control.

This was precisely the power of his Spirit Refining Art, a manifestation of precise control over thunder through multitasking with his mind.

Seeing this, Zhan Tai Mingyue’s surprise deepened, and he nodded, saying:

”Controlling thunder with Divine Sense... Fellow Daoist’s Divine Sense is far stronger than others at the same Realm, no wonder you have such control even upon initially comprehending Thunder True Intent.

However, the power of thunder is violent and unpredictable; if one’s Divine Sense is slightly weaker, there is a danger of backlash. I observe that your True Intent seems to focus more on its ’life’ aspect. Is this related to the Cultivation Technique you practice?”

Lin Jingyu secretly praised the other party’s discerning eye and frankly said:

”Fellow Daoist is insightful. My primary Cultivation Technique is the Evergreen Art, a wood-attribute Cultivation Technique that inherently focuses on vitality and nourishment. Perhaps it is precisely for this reason that when comprehending thunder, I am particularly sensitive to the trace of life contained within it.”

However, although he said this, he felt in his heart that the most important reason was that he had comprehended the purified thunder power in the stone house on the mountainside.

It lacked more of the destructive and Heavenly Dao 韵味 (charm/essence).

More of the power of life was retained within it.

But he couldn’t just say it directly.

To have comprehended the Thunder Imprint within a few days, it would be truly outrageous to say it out loud.

”Wood gives birth to fire, fire intensifies into thunder... So that’s how it is.”

Zhan Tai Mingyue was lost in thought.

”Evergreen Art... It is said to originate from the Cultivation Technique of the ancient great power, Changsheng Immortal Venerable, originally named ’Changsheng Cultivation Method’.

Unfortunately, it was eventually lost, with only the Qi Refining Realm chapters remaining. After several revisions, it became the Evergreen Art.

It is even more rare for Fellow Daoist to be able to comprehend Thunder True Intent based on this method. Perhaps this Evergreen Art also has extraordinary aspects.”

He paused, then continued:

”Thunder is not purely Yang. When Heaven and Earth interact, and Yin and Yang clash, thunder is born. Therefore, pure Yang thunder, though fierce, is biased.

If one can draw upon a trace of Taiyin power or Water Spirit power to harmonize it, combining rigidity and softness, that is the Righteous Path.

Moreover, the Heavenly Might of thunder is tyrannical and unrivaled, and within destruction and rebirth, it contains the basic Five Elements power.

The convergence of the Five Elements is the true Origin power of thunder.

The Nine Heavens Thunder Canon, one of our Qinglan Sect’s foundational treasures, takes the Five Elements as its core, progressing layer by layer, ultimately pointing directly to the Origin Law of thunder.”

”Nine Heavens Thunder Canon...” Lin Jingyu murmured, a look of yearning in his eyes. This was clearly a supreme thunder Spell that led directly to the Great Dao.

However, it was certainly also a secret Cultivation Technique of the Qinglan Sect, impossible to be circulated externally.

Zhan Tai Mingyue looked at Lin Jingyu, his tone becoming solemn:

”Fellow Daoist Lin, with your talent and Comprehension Ability, it is truly a pity to be confined to a small pond like the Lin Family. Our Qinglan Sect embraces all, and values Geniuses most.

If you are willing to join the Qinglan Sect, with your abilities, you will surely be highly regarded.

At that time, not only will you have the opportunity to study the Nine Heavens Thunder Canon, but there are also numerous thunder Spell Secret Realms and insights from Seniors within the Sect available for your cultivation. This is far better than exploring on your own and wasting years.

Achieving success in the Dao of thunder, and using this as your Foundation, will allow you to forge a superior Foundation.

Even breaking through to Core Formation will have a much higher chance!”

This was a blatant recruitment and a grand promise, and the two guards also held their breath, wanting to know how Lin Jingyu would respond.

Lin Jingyu’s heart stirred slightly.

The Qinglan Sect, a giant of immortal cultivation in Chiyan Prefecture of the Eastern Spirit Nation, possessed resources and heritage far beyond what the Lin Family could compare to.

Joining it was indeed a direct path to greatness. But he thought of the Lin Family, which had just started, and of his friends like Feng Xixi and Xu Li.

He thought of the secrets he carried, such as the Taihao Elixir Canon, and that he was not entirely free. Moreover, his nature disliked too many restrictions.

Furthermore, there was not only Zhan Tai Mingyue’s path to cultivate the Nine Heavens Thunder Canon.

Feng Xixi and Xu Li were both his connections.

Besides, Fei Yangyang seemed to be an insider of the Qinglan Sect as well; he had even mentioned meeting up at the Qinglan Sect. How much time had passed since then? What he once thought was a distant matter was now within reach.

What he once thought was a distant matter was now within reach.

He pondered for a moment, then cupped his hands and said: ”Thank you for your kindness, Fellow Daoist Zhan Tai. The Qinglan Sect is a Holy Land of immortal cultivation, and I yearn for it in my heart.

However, my Family affairs are not yet settled, and I am accustomed to a carefree life, so I fear I might find it difficult to adapt to Sect rules. This matter is significant and requires careful consideration on my part.”

Upon hearing this, Zhan Tai Mingyue did not show displeasure; instead, he smiled and said:

”No worries. Joining a Sect should not be forced. Whenever Fellow Daoist makes up your mind, the gates of the Qinglan Sect will always be open for you.”

He changed the subject, returning to their discussion of the Dao.

”Since Fellow Daoist currently has no intention of joining the Sect, then let today’s discussion be solely about the Dao, and nothing else.

I observe your Thunder Intent; although it possesses the marvel of vitality, it lacks some of the tyrannical True Intent of Heavenly Might, which judges all things with awe-inspiring power.

This Intent requires facing the most primitive Heavenly Thunder directly, comprehending it between life and death; it cannot be bestowed by thunder filtered through a Formation...”

This was the most sincere advice, and also what Lin Jingyu himself wanted to make up for.

In the following time, the two engaged in in-depth discussions on the morphological changes of thunder and the generation and restraint of the Five Elements, the tempering of the Divine Soul, and how to integrate Thunder True Intent into Spells and Divine Abilities.

Zhan Tai Mingyue primarily expounded on high-level theories and the systematic Legacy of the Qinglan Sect, while Lin Jingyu, combining his unique perspective from the Spirit Refining Art and the Foundation of the Evergreen Art, proposed novel insights and questions.

Zhan Tai Mingyue initially approached it with the mindset of guiding a junior, but the more they discussed, the more astonished he became.

Lin Jingyu’s Comprehension Ability was remarkably high, and his thinking was agile; he could often infer other things from one point, and even in some subtle areas, he could propose ingenious ideas that Zhan Tai Mingyue himself had not deeply considered.

Especially Lin Jingyu’s application and understanding of Divine Sense far exceeded the scope of the Qi Refining period.
