Cultivation Simulator: Starting From The Empress' Palace

In order to win people’s hearts and bind interests together, Zhao Jiang did not pretend to uphold the righteousness anymore and said, ”The main force of the Imperial Court has already gone to Jizhou to quell the rebellion. According to the information I have, the battle is intense, and now that the Capital’s forces are depleted, we can strike directly and seize the world.

When I ascend to the throne, I will certainly reward meritorious deeds with wealth and beauties, honor, and glory, which won’t be lacking for all of you.”

The dozen or so generals on the left spoke up one after another:

”This humble general is willing to follow King Yan!”

”Chen Mo harms ministers, imprisons the Late Emperor, and brings chaos in the harem. The current emperor is nothing but a puppet he single-handedly supported. Only King Yan is orthodox, as it should be.”

”...”

Listening to the loyal words of his subordinates, Zhao Jiang showed a slight smile and looked to the right.

These people speak of great righteousness for the common people, but are not deeply tied to him, and their hearts are not united.

Sure enough, someone stood up and cupped his hands, saying, ”This statement is incorrect. The current emperor was the Crown Prince appointed by the Late Emperor, and ascending to the throne is legitimate. Moreover, Prince Zhen Nan greatly defeated Loulan, expelled foreign enemies, and made great contributions to the country and people. Now, attacking while Prince Zhen Nan is engaged in Jizhou is not the way of a gentleman.”

”Pah, for the country and people, such nice words. He’s all for himself, didn’t he line his pockets during confiscations?” A general spat and then said, ”Anyway, the chaos in the harem can’t be faked, with Princess De Ning, the Empress Dowager of the Western Palace, and the Empress Dowager of the Eastern Palace all becoming his playthings.”

The tent erupted in argument.

However, Zhao Jiang seemed prepared and took out an imperial edict.

This edict was previously written to him by Zhao Chong.

The content roughly instructs Zhao Jiang to eliminate traitors, purge the inner circle, and then abdicate to him.

The Jianghu experts on the right immediately fell silent.

Having the edict represented that Zhao Jiang had legitimate grounds for action, and if the Emperor was willing to abdicate, Zhao Jiang’s ascension would also be orthodox.

Thus, the problem of legitimacy was resolved.

Of course, some believed the edict was a forged edict, but dared not speak out.

...

Just when Zhao Jiang was preparing to make an offensive plan.

”Report——”

”A message from the front, the leader of the Taiping Dao in Jizhou, Zhang Jiao, was killed by the Eldest Princess at the Hei River, and the rebellion in Jizhou has been quelled.”

A personal soldier ran into the tent, knelt on one knee, and orally delivered the urgent report from the front lines.

Before the Jizhou battle began, Zhao Jiang had sent many spies to Jizhou to gather intelligence and monitor the Imperial Guard’s movements, reporting the progress of the Jizhou situation in detail.

As the words fell, Zhao Jiang’s face turned pale.

The tent also fell into a silence so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

The Jianghu experts on the right exchanged glances.

Wasn’t it just said that the battle in Jizhou was fierce?

How was the rebellion in Jizhou already quelled by the Eldest Princess?

With the Jizhou rebellion quelled, the Eldest Princess will certainly return with the army that suppressed the rebellion. Attacking the Capital now, if it turns into a long, drawn-out battle and isn’t quickly won, wouldn’t they be caught in a pincer attack then?

Seeing the scrutinizing eyes of the crowd, Zhao Jiang wished he could kill the reporting personal soldier. After a moment of silence, he said, ”Speed is of the essence in war. If we take the Capital in one fell swoop, the major event can be accomplished. Even if the Eldest Princess returns with troops, it will be of no use.”

”Pass my military order, break camp immediately!”

”Yes.”

...

To deal with King Yan’s attack, the Capital is under martial law, neither allowing entry nor exit, to prevent King Yan’s spies from pouring out and inciting people during the battle between the two armies.

It also prevents spies inside from going out to report on the Capital’s defense situation to King Yan.

After all, the Capital is a mixed bag of people; who can guarantee that the previous purge caught all the spies?

Someone suggested that Chen Mo recruit soldiers to reinforce the Capital’s defense, or at least summon some laborers to transport strategic materials like round wood, rolling stone, and gold juice.

Chen Mo refused.

If such a team were gathered, spies might infiltrate, secretly open the city gates during the transport of strategic materials, or sabotage the strategic materials, making it impossible to defend against.

Chen Mo conducted a simulation based on his previous plan, which was to strike directly at the head of the enemy when King Yan encircles the Capital.

According to the simulation, he succeeded.

He succeeded in capturing Zhao Jiang’s head amidst tens of thousands of soldiers.

He only needed to follow the simulation.

...

”Meow～～” After returning to the inner residence, an orange cat ran past in front of him, with Xiao Jiu chasing behind. Seeing that Chen Mo had returned, Xiao Jiu stopped chasing and pounced on Chen Mo.

Xiao Jiu was large, about ten feet tall, not small and exquisite in size, and coupled with its considerable strength, it actually knocked Chen Mo to the ground.

A soft and tender loli voice entered Chen Mo’s ears, ”Master, you’re back.”

During this time, Xiao Jiu became increasingly attached to Chen Mo. As soon as Chen Mo returned home and Xiao Jiu saw him, it would immediately pounce over, rubbing its head and paws against Chen Mo for a while before reluctantly separating.

”Stop chasing.” At this time, Ye Wanqiu also came running over, gasping for breath, stopping in front of Chen Mo, ”My lord... you’re back.”

”Alright, alright, get up quickly.” Chen Mo patted Xiao Jiu’s head to make it get up, then stood up and looked at Ye Wanqiu, ”Wanqiu, what’s going on, why are you so tired?”

”Xiao... Xiao Jiu wants to eat the rice... rice ball.” Ye Wanqiu had been chasing all the way and was somewhat out of breath, bending over with her hands on her knees, completely without her previous elegance and dignity.

”Hmm, is it Xiao Jiu?” Chen Mo pinched Xiao Jiu’s head lightly.
