Chapter 153: 153 One Man Guards the Pass

Just at this moment.

”Neigh...”

A sharp sound of hooves echoed in everyone’s ears. Following the sound, they looked over, and their pupils shrank slightly. They saw a white horse knock two people into the air and then leap upward.

On the white horse sat a person clad in black armor, wielding a longsword.

Horse and rider landed on the drawbridge that was about to be raised.

The pupils of the rebels on the drawbridge contracted violently, their hearts seemingly skipping a beat.

As the person and horse landed, the glow of the setting sun cast a towering and majestic shadow on them.

Before the rebels on the drawbridge could react, the white horse charged forward, and a flash of the sword light traced across the air.

Two rebels on the drawbridge clutched their throats and fell to the ground.

”Crack...”

Chen Mo severed the chains connecting the city wall and the drawbridge with a single slash, and with a bang, the drawbridge fell back into place, bridging the moat.

Boom!

At the moment the drawbridge hit the ground, it kicked up a cloud of dust.

”Hiss...”

The sudden development stunned everyone.

”This lad is fierce!”

”Whose officer is that?”

For a moment, it seemed as if all eyes were on Chen Mo.

”It’s the captain, the captain has lowered the drawbridge. The city is our only chance for survival. Brothers, charge with me!”

Gao Zheng shouted, dragging his weary body forward into battle.

The Song Army around him regained their morale and surged forward like a flood.

Amid the siege, the city was the turning point.

Gao Fen, not far away, also showed a slight surprise.

Has he no regard for his life?

Daring to charge forward alone?

However, a faint glimmer of light reappeared in Gao Fen’s eyes.

The bridge over the moat had yet to rise.

The tide of the battle could still change.

”This man is skilled, brothers, follow this lord!”

The soldiers from different camps began desperately rushing toward the drawbridge.

”Archers, quickly fire to cover him!”

”Close the city gates, close them now!”

Seeing that the opposing side was making a desperate attempt, the rebel commander on the city wall shouted urgently.

As the words fell, countless archers began to bend their bows and notched arrows, casting a rain of arrows toward Chen Mo.

Simultaneously, the rebel army surged toward them.

Chen Mo used the Object Manipulation Skill to summon a shield and held it above his head, gripping the horse’s belly with his legs, and galloped towards the partially open city gate.

Inside the city, a batch of rebels was already rushing out to stop him, and the heavy city gates were slowly closing.

”Hyah!”

Chen Mo dashed forward, reaching the dead angle below the city walls where arrows couldn’t reach him. The veins on his right arm bulged, swelling as two Profound Gate True Qi channels filled up in the Red Dragon Demon Arm, and he violently hurled the shield overhead.

”Boom!”

”Pfft!”

The rebels struck by the shield were sent flying.

Falling to the ground, they spat blood and died.

The city gate before him was about to close, and he flung the longsword in his hand.

Nailing a rebel directly to the wall.

His entire body soared upward.

In the next moment, his figure vanished from the horse.

Shifting Form and Position.

When he reappeared, he was already at the gate, yanking the longsword from the gate and kicking one of the doors with his right foot.

The rebels pushing the gate from behind were knocked to the ground by the immense force.

The slowly closing gate abruptly stopped.

Then Chen Mo swiftly turned and slashed with his sword.

The rebel who was preparing to launch a sneak attack had his head severed from his body.

Blood splattered onto Chen Mo’s face, reaching the corner of his mouth. He licked it and spat, ”Ptooey, it’s salty...”

The surrounding rebels were shocked, instinctively backing away.

At this moment, Chen Mo in their eyes was like a God of Slaughter.

But soon, a large group of Yellow Turban Army soldiers surged out from the city.

They too charged forward.

Outside the moat, the rest of the Song Army under the barrage of arrows and rebels couldn’t advance an inch.

They could only watch helplessly as Chen Mo was swallowed by the crowds.

”Captain.” Gao Zheng shouted, but there was no response.

On the scene, a somber silence loomed.

And the city gates began to move again.

”Killing one doesn’t lose anything, killing two makes a profit!”

”Brothers, fight them to the death.”

Seeing that all hope to rush into the city was lost, and the rebels seemed intent on eliminating them completely.

A death wish floated in the hearts of the Song soldiers.

Having a blade cut into one’s shoulder felt like nothing, as one reversed grip and stabbed into another’s abdomen, spilling blood everywhere.

The Song Army was dwindling bit by bit, while the rebel leader on the city wall observed this with a sneer.

Cornered beasts still fighting.

They won’t overturn anything.

”Kill them!”

Just then, from the distant hillside, command flags waved and drums thundered as a cavalry charged in from an angle.

The rebels obstructing them were all knocked into the air by armored warhorses, hooves trampling down until entrails spilled out.

In the face of the cavalry, the rebels outside the city had no resistance and were slaughtered.

Some cavalrymen were so weary from killing,

they couldn’t even swing their blades to attack anymore.

Because their blades were chipped and dulled from hacking.

One charge through.

The rebels, who relied on their numbers but didn’t have high morale, scattered in all directions.

The Song Army recognized the leading general and cheered:

”It’s the Grand General! The Grand General has come to help!”

”It’s the Grand General, we are saved.”

”Brothers, kill those bastards.”

”Attack!”

”...”

Huangfu Hao led his army onto the battlefield, glanced roughly at the remaining soldiers, then looked coldly at the already disheveled Gao Fen.

Just as he was about to reprimand him.

He heard calls from the side.

”Grand General, quickly save our captain, he’s surrounded by rebels at the gate.” Xu Dabao, Liu Dan, and others shouted.

Hearing this, Huangfu Hao looked toward the city gate.

The first thing that caught his eyes was a white horse.

Then came the ”bloodied” man beneath it, clad in black armor and entangled with the rebels.

There at the gate, corpses were piled high.

The clog of bodies prevented the city gate from closing.

”Good.”

Huangfu Hao rejoiced.

As long as the city gate wasn’t closed, capturing Qingwan Town would be much easier.

Know that important towns usually have specially crafted gates.

They can withstand an Innate Martial Artist’s attack.

They can’t be broken by force.

”Quick, attack, don’t let him... What’s his name again?” Huangfu Hao asked.

”Chen Hong.” Xu Dabao replied.

”Don’t let Chen Hong die, kill them!”

Huangfu Hao led the charge, reaching the outside of the moat and hurled his spear forward.

Then with a leap from the saddle, propelled himself upward.

Meanwhile, the spear embedded in the city wall emitted a humming sound.

Leaping up, Huangfu Hao stepped on the shaft, vaulting onto the city wall.

The rebels underneath the battlements rushed to stop him.

The rebel commander attempted to flee opportunistically.

Huangfu Hao immediately struck a palm through the air.

With a boom!

Amidst the surging True Qi, the battlement directly collapsed, burying the people below.
