Reborn Divine Doctor: The Abandoned Girl's Legend

Chapter 1501: Chapter 561: Reversal, Ye Lingyue’s Cleverness

”Hold on.”

Just then, Luo Qianche and others stormed in with over a dozen Shui City Team members, fuming with anger.

”You guys are going too far. It’s obviously a task worth three thousand Merit Points, yet you only settled with us for one thousand Merit Points.”

Luo Qian had a flushed face from anger, and even standing nearby, Ye Lingyue and others didn’t notice.

It turned out that after Luo Qianche parted ways with Ye Lingyue, she went into Qiyu City and found the other Shui City members.

Those members, upon seeing Luo Qianche alive, were overjoyed and yet very guilty.

Earlier, they thought Luo Qianche would surely die when they cut the bridge ropes.

Luo Qianche didn’t mind it much, as she had stayed to block the Tiger-faced Leopard with the thought of dying for sure.

After finding the team members, Luo Qianche explained about the task and the distribution of Merit Points, and the members had no objections.

Everyone understood that without the help of the Huangquan Team, they wouldn’t have been able to complete the task and would likely face heavy penalties, even the risk of downgrade. Sharing half of the merit was already a good deal.

Luo Qianche and the team handed over several chests to the client and received one thousand Merit Points.

Who knew they’d hear on the way that this so-called material transport task was actually issued by the City Lord’s Mansion over half a month ago.

Furthermore, when it was initially issued, the Merit Points were set at one thousand by the City Lord’s Mansion.

However, the Merit Points for this task increased several times because several other Sixth and Seventh Rank teams took it on, but they were attacked by beasts on the way, ultimately setting the Merit Points at three thousand.

Three thousand Merit Points is no small number.

What made Luo Qianche and her team most upset was that the other party clearly knew the transport was dangerous, yet deliberately concealed the information, causing them such great losses.

Luo Qianche figured that once the other party got their hands on the chests, they’d report the task to the City Lord’s Mansion. Enraged, she brought her people to confront them.

Sure enough, she caught them red-handed.

”Shui City people? Weren’t the Merit Points already given to you? Scram, or else don’t blame me for being rude.”

Zhan Yue’s captain, Yi Qianyu, the young man, said impatiently.

”Secretary, this task was not completed by the Zhan Yue Team, but by our Shui City Team. Their Merit Points shouldn’t count.”

Luo Qianche wasn’t one to be trifled with either. She walked up to the secretary and recounted the entire story.

In Qiyu City, there are various ways to take on different entrusted tasks, including private commissions and city tasks, but none allow for second-hand contracting.

Earlier, Zhan Yue accepted the City Lord’s Mansion’s task and then subcontracted it to Shui City. This is a classic example of second-hand contracting.

Second-hand contracts cannot have Merit Points normally calculated.

Yi Qianyu sneered.

”Big words. Do you really think you could complete the task? What proof do you have to show that the Heavenly Scouring Grass chests were retrieved by you? The chests are all intact in our hands; this task was completed by us, Zhan Yue.”

Second-hand contracting wasn’t new to Zhan Yue.

They relied on their standing in Qiyu City to bully smaller teams.

Local teams suffered and chose to swallow their pride.

Luo Qianche was an outsider, having arrived not long ago, and dared to stand up to them, practically looking for death.

Yi Qianyu also assumed that Luo Qianche and her team had no evidence.

Even if others knew about this, it was unlikely they’d stand up for Luo Qianche.

Luo Qianche’s face was flushed with anger.

The secretary of the City Lord’s Mansion was also in a difficult spot. Which team should really receive the Merit Points?

”I can prove that the Heavenly Scouring Grass task was completed by Shui City.”

At this time, a suddenly untimely voice joined in.

Both Yi Qianyu and the people of Zhan Yue were shocked, wondering who was so blind.

They saw the black-faced girl, whom they previously ridiculed, calmly emerge from a corner.

”It’s you again? And who do you think you are, that this task concerns you?”

The demon hunter from Zhan Yue, previously knocked over by Ye Lingyue, was furious.

”It really does concern me because I was also involved with those chests. I’m friends with City Lord Luo, and this task was actually completed by my Huangquan Team and the Shui City Team working together. If you don’t believe it, you can open chests numbered one, three, five, seven, and nine, and below them is written ’Huangquan’.”

At Ye Lingyue’s words, the secretary hurriedly opened the chests containing the Heavenly Scouring Grass.

Sure enough, the word ”Huangquan” was written under several of the chests.

Independent tasks don’t allow for second-hand contracting, but joint missions are allowed, since some tasks require many participants, allowing smaller teams to unite and share Merit Points according to their contribution.

Luo Qianche was momentarily stunned, looking at Ye Lingyue strangely, with a silent query in her eyes, as if to ask, when did you pull this off?

Ye Lingyue shrugged, meaning, isn’t this just taking precautions?

Earlier, she had preemptively marked the chests to prevent Luo Qianche from reneging, not expecting to have actually put it to use.

”Captain Yi, how will you explain this?”

The secretaries were all suddenly enlightened.

They didn’t say more and removed the Merit Points originally planned for Zhan Yue.

This left a few of Zhan Yue’s members seething with anger.

From the start of the Heavenly Scouring Grass task, they were interested, but Yi Qianyu had inside information that the task wasn’t simple, so never took it.

Once the Merit Points rose to three thousand, and Zhan Yue was on the verge of upgrading, Yi Qianyu accepted the task without thorough investigation.

The members of Zhan Yue didn’t want to take risks, just when Luo Qianche and her group, newly arrived at Qiyu City, urgently needed tasks.

Yi Qianyu had heard of Luo Qianche’s name; it was said that Shui City was under the Water God’s protection, with high success in recent missions. Yi Qianyu plotted to underhandedly subcontract, gain Merit Points, and keep Zhan Yue safe.

Besides, Shui City’s team had no foundation in Qiyu City. Even if discovered, they couldn’t stir up much trouble.

Who would’ve expected Ye Lingyue to appear at such a time?

And she left undeniable evidence.

Thus, the Heavenly Scouring Grass task was split in two, with fifteen hundred Merit Points awarded to both the Shui City and Huangquan Teams.

”We’ll see about that.”

With darkened eyes, Yi Qianyu and others furiously left the City Lord’s Mansion.

The secretaries of the City Lord’s Mansion, seeing this, also shook their heads quietly. Having dared to offend one of the three major representative teams of Qiyu City, the Huangquan Team’s future days won’t be easy.
